I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Top see’s league 1 as an opportunity to rebuild for the championship with the lesser financial restrictions. Rightly or wrongly I wouldn’t be shocked to see them throw money at it.

From what I've read, investment via the ownership, in terms of gifting the club money (not loans though) is basically fine, and if Top wants to, he could more or less invest as much money as he wants, and this would count as turnover for the purposes of the salary cost management protocol. There is also a transitional period for newly relegated clubs as well, so we should be able to spend 75% of our revenue on player wages in our first season as a League One club rather than the standard 60%.

Financial losses and restrictions on investment don't apply in the same way as they did in the Premier League and the Championship - although there is apparently a staggering calculation which means that only 60% of investments over one million can be included in turnover.

In simple maths, if Top invested £10m, then £6m of that would be added to turnover. And then, because of the 75% first season transition allowance, it would give us an extra £4.5m in terms of additional wage headroom. Birmingham used stadium naming rights (£9.5m p/y) to boost their commercial turnover in League One. Shirt sponsorship would be a lever that King Power could use again. These sponsorship deals seem to be a lot less regulated in lower leagues.

The question is more whether he actually has the ability to do that, given the state of King Power's finances and the fact that so much of his personal wealth is tied up with the King Power Group. Actually, who knows if he even has the desire to do that?

Ah my bad, missed that about Page! I am hopeful he will stay to be fair. Like you, I assume Monga goes.

Jakub like others has had a bad season but someone might see him as cheap back up. He won’t cost much being out of contract next year, £500k maybe? But who knows, he might stay but then it’ll be another out the door for free next year.

Nelson similar, professional clubs and scouts will base their views on more factors than had a bad run in a toxic team where everyone was awful so like Monga, I don’t factor Nelson into my thoughts on the squad for next season as he is gone in my view.

Vestergaard and Skipp, it’s easy to assume we’ll be stuck with them and I tend to have a quite negative outlook on this (could call it realism). But agents will be working. Vestergaard might get a 2 year deal in Europe on lower wages but think it is preferable to L1. Skipp more difficult as there is amortisation to consider whereas we could give away Vestergaard for free fee wise. Maybe someone takes Skipp on loan and covers the year amortisation and wages best case? Probably not, at the least we probably subsidise wages.

We definitely need a senior striker. We can’t put that burden on the likes of Hutchinson. Not sure it needs to be 442 if you have wide forwards such as Evans and Alves but I do enjoy the Fryatt/Howard partnership in L1 last time!

It would be nice to have the option of 442 though. Im sick of playing one way. 4231 is preferable but sometimes you need to be able to switch it up.

Id be glad to get rid of Skipps wages but if we are stuck with him its not the end of the world if we can carry his salary for a season.. he wouldnt actually be too bad in L1. I hope youre right about Jannik. I think the best bet is he goes somewhere in Europe and we subsidise half the wages.

Youre right about Nelson.. and for a small fee for an English U21 international its worth the risk for someone isnt it I guess. When he came in during the last promotion season under Enzo he did look quality.. im being too critical on him because you cant really expect any young player to thrive in that shite really this year can you.

Id like two strikers if we can muster it. Obviously the next Vardy is too big a wish.. but someone similar to Dickov and then a Ulloa/Howard type too would be useful.  Sick of these lazy weak 'forwards' of this season

I think that is a wildly optimistic take....

We shouldn't be keeping Lascelles, I would imagine he would be able to demand higher wages from a Championship club. We are stuck with Vestergaard, no one is coming to buy him and he won't force a move, he knows that he will be getting paid more by us than what any one else will offer. Same could be said for Mavididi and BCDR, we have shot ourselves in the foot so much by offering wages to players that are so much higher than their actual value.

Based on Fatawu's recent form I'd also be surprised if we get anything north of £15million for him.

This will come down to the severity of their relegation wage deduction clauses. Some of them might find they can earn more in the Championship with another club.

The one position we definitely don’t need anyone is RB. Joseph has had a good loan in League 2 and Aluko has shown some promise. Both can do a job on the other side too.

I agree so watch this be our first signing.

Oh I have no doubt the club will do everything in their power to avoid playing them.

They'll appoint a manger who doesn’t believe in playing youngsters

IF we even put relegation clauses in for the Championship... I can't imagine that the board or DoF thought we would get relegated again ("We promote next season").

Don't forget he will (or someone will) have to chuck money in to keep us afloat given our revenue is about to drop off a cliff. We have a huge fixed cost base to service, so any money poured in won't be put towards a football manager style rebuild.

I suspect that there are relegation clauses in place that will reduce players' wages next season. The important question is by how much, and whether they will be enough to encourage the likes of Vestergaard to look for another club.

i can't imagine a scenario where nearly all of that 17 i listed aren't moved on. Including Vestergaard. He isn't going to play League One he's played World Cups, Euros etc so will want out for sure...

He's old and wont feature anymore for the national team. He's also really, really, really sh1t. Anyone willing to buy him and remotely match our salary for him is utterly insane.

Don’t think it’s that crazy, think pessimism has driven some of our lot a bit over the edge, as shit as it is majority of them will be able to find teams who will take a low cost risk on guys who have previously performed, Luton got a fair few million on a 30 year old Carlton Morris.

I would only really swap Joseph and one of the new defenders as he is a RB, and have two new AM’s instead.

Think if by some miracle get Tolaj, Collins and a new manager in place soon we will be in a good place to be a bit more reactive to our sales after that

Top will just want to get back up so he parade a trophy to his pals again, he won't be seeing anything long term because he doesn't have that foresight.
