What frustrates me even more, which a few of you have alluded to, is why appoint a manager you know full well the fans won't be happy with? What businessman with half a brain cell actually does that?!  It just shows how inept Nepo baby really is at owning this club.

We basically need a whole new squad, so we are giving him full control to the rebuild aswell. 

 

We are locking in for the long term with him. We just have to hope that all these people in the game saying hes a highly rated coach we are the club it finally works at because hes been underwhelming at best everywhere hes gone.

I couldn't agree more. He really is ruining everything his father built. I personally don't think we've hit rock bottom yet.... We should protest at Russell Martin's appointment and then boycott the club.

There's an unholy level of unrest and disapproval just waiting to re-erupt, and many erstwhile KP apologists will be as bemused by this appointment as I am.

 

It's an utterly bonkers decision. A huge call. As childish as it sounds, it's as if Top is reminding us that this is his club and he'll do as he pleases with it. I believe he's capable of that degree of incompetence and egomania. There'll be fans who think that if this goes horribly wrong, and quickly, then that might work out better for us over time. Like Sousa in 2010. I'm not sure I agree, but you can see why people would feel that way.

 

When you raise eyebrows at the decision-making at Leicester City, then as a general rule your worst fears about their ineptitude fall well short of how entirely useless they really are. It'd be wonderful to be reflecting, five years or so from now, on how insanely wrong I was. But the feeling is starting to creep in that, when people warned four or five months ago that the club was on a path to extinction if it didn't correct course, that we're seeing the first motions of a 'this is exactly what you're not supposed to do' masterclass.

 

Or perhaps Josh Holland was right all along.

My biggest concern isn’t even the manager here but the direction from above. This is an opportunity to build a new squad in a style that is more applicable to what works in 2026. With Martin we are going to recruit and play heavy possession again, which isn’t working anymore, teams have wised up. Even in League One last season the champions had the lowest possession stats of anyone!

Agree with this. We don't learn. I can't see a appointment which does more to say " I'm not connected to what the fans what and I don't give a shit".

 

Absolutely baffling decisions and just shows how we've not moved forward as a club at all.

Well he struggled for wins with rangers in the Scottish league… with most of those teams pretty much league one quality… anyway hopefully he has learnt a few things and somehow improved.
