It makes sense why they wanted Argentina to win the tournament now. They knew UEFA would kick off and threaten a boycott. That would have carried less weight if the previous two winners came from outside Europe.

I'm a bit cynical here, but to me, this feels more like a Ceferin/Infantino power struggle than a "show of unity". UEFA are not exactly saints either. Lisa Klaveness of the Norwegian FA is the only one I'm convinced of has any moral backbone, as the weak protestations of some of the other FAs (that I know of, including the Danish, Belgian and English FAs) during this and the last World Cup shows me they're not willing to stick their neck out for fear of getting ostracised/penalised financially.

He has obviously been listening to Trump and his family and can only see the $ sign.

I have absolutely no faith in FIFA, EUFA the PL and our own EFL.

 

It all stinks of corruption. There's no trust in football AFAIC. Yet millions will still follow like sheep, pay the devil the dollar,  and that's what Infanticide and his cronies know. It's the cash cow for international football where money is everything. 

 

Do you think FIFA are bothered if Cyprus or Uzbekistan et al, pull out?

 

The more major participants might protest now, but they and the lower profile national teams can't ignore the bribe of potential increased revenue if they go along with this.

 

It's horrible and for me, signals the death knell of truly competitive international football.
