Yup, I think this about sums it up. The changing of the red card, Argentina getting away with a lot of fouls enroute to the final, the hydration breaks for adverts (turning football in quarters), the embarrassment of the 'half time show' for the final, the final kicked off late, eye watering ticket prices and no cap on resale, FIFA breaking their own rules etc.... It's been atrocious. 

 

Some of the actual football has been good, but it's been overshadowed by how they have tailored it to an American audience when, like you say, typical Americans are not bothered. 

 

Some fans have been great as a positive. Mexicans after English defeat, Netherlands doing their dance, Scots drinking cities dry etc....

 

But overall a corrupt corporate tournament that should get the head of FIFA sacked, ran by greed not for the love of the game.

Was an enjoyable tournament football wise generally and a deserved winner .

 

We all know how much football is a money making ego trip of a business now and so much off the field  is nonsense but the crowds turned up .

 

Officials on the pitch did well mainly but always  going to get controversy particularly with the subjective nature of VAR.

 

They will say the World Cup is a global game as an excuse to increased numbers and make more money for themselves.
