They are a former Premier league club just like us. With the direction we are going we could easily emulate them with the leadership we've got.

CARTWRIGHT COMPLETES CITY SWITCH

Bradford City AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Henry Cartwright on a three-year deal, from Leicester City, for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old midfielder heads to Valley Parade after 13 years at the King Power Stadium, which included an impressive loan spell at Falkirk last season.

One of Cartwright’s goals was a long-range strike against Rangers in the Scottish Premiership at Falkirk Stadium, where he made 42 appearances.

After signing at Valley Parade, Cartwright said: “I am absolutely buzzing; this has been in the works for a while now, it is finally here, and I am delighted.

“The supporters are so loud here. It is not the first time I have been at Valley Parade; I played here in the EFL Trophy. I cannot wait to get started now.”

Bantams boss Graham Alexander added: “We are delighted to bring Henry in and he will add a real competitive edge to our midfield.

“He has got great energy, has a very good passing range and an ambition to establish himself as a genuine first-team performer.”

Cartwright will be sponsored by YouFibre during his stay in BD8. His move is subject to the relevant EFL clearances.

Dumb. Could have been a squad player here at a minimum, evidently. Let’s go and throw double the wage package at an over the hill league one player instead.

I think with Alves, Braybook and Page competing for places in the starting 11, Cartwright made the right decision to leave. It’s unlikely he was going to get much play time, especially if we are going to mix it up with some experience midfielders. At least we got a fee for him. Overall I think it’s a good deal for both parties.

How much does anyone think

Really cant imaging much. Would have thought about 250k.

Im a little surprised by this, but i think it highlights that some will be staying for sure.

Think it could just be as simple as whoever is playing in those defensive midfielder roles will be a ball carrier type and he isn't that really is he?

Even if we sell Winks, there's still Braybrooke here and I they'll be plans to use the money for Fatawu/Monga.

Wonder how many people actually watch him on loan.

I watched a number of his oft rare minutes.  He was tidy but didn't stand out as anybody we should be interested in if he weren't our player.  Braybrooke stood out at Newport and Chesterfield.  Cartwright didn't for Falkirk.  Sammy had a shite loan up in Irn Bru Country though I suppose.  But we've got a lot of centre mids at present so maybe just got to free up some space and funds.  He doesn't seem to excel in any particular part of the game, and it's likely a prerequisite that our DM's are comfortable on the ball where at present we have Winks :( and Sammy over him for starters.

Do I have confidence in the transfer decision makers at our club?  No

Do I have confidence that Henry Cartwright would go on to be a first team regular at our club? No

With this in mind, this transfer doesn't particularly bother me either way

That was similar to my take from watching him, seems to be a lot of people disappointed with this, but I'm not sure many watched him play.

I still expect us to try to move Winks and Skipp on and try a total CM rebuild.

I was looking forward to seeing him challenge the first team this season as I liked what I saw of him on loan as an all action midfielder (?).

this is it, I was interested in the idea of him, Braybrooke and page as a 3 man midfield. Braybrooke as the deep lying playmaker, page as the 10 and Cartwright as a combative 8.

Martin getting rid of the guy that scored the goal that got him sacked

Proper Brendan vibes lol

Frees up a lovely spot for a lightweight cm that can pass 10 yards back and sideways though

Some very delusional opinions in this thread. Sad for the lad after being here for so long, but the club who know him inside out, don’t believe he is currently good enough.
He didn’t exactly pull up many trees during his loan spell north of the border.
