a) not that in league 1

b) hopefully we’ve wiped the slate on his wages by allowing him to go for nothing.  But it’s possible that we’ve had to pay a loyalty bonus (yeah I know) which would cover the shortfall between what he’d earn here and what they’re prepared to pay him

Id say it's unfortunately almost certain we are still paying some of the wages. Even the deducted league one wages would be too much for a club like them to take on for a player with such little demand.

they have to pay something for the last year of his contract.   But we also have a loyalty payment to make if we’re transferring his registration.
as you say, it’s very unlikely that we haven’t had to make a contribution to his remuneration 26/27.

The final rap sheet:

2 relegations.

3 managers fallen out with.

"Enzo I miss you".

Refusal to stay at the training ground a night a week.

Aperols when we got relegated.

Apparent refusal to play under Marti(?).

Telling the fans to **** off (once safely on the bus).

All round stinking attitude.

Anything I've missed?

Don’t think I’ve ever gone off of a player so quickly, 6 months ago I loved Fatawu and I just can’t wait for him to go now

Scored from the halfway line and then decided he'd completed football. Absolute sausage.

Excellent. Thought it was only a loan.

Any idea on the fee?

£5 million originally, but we knocked them down to 4....😐

Didn't contribute as much as Matty James did and he isn't even the top 5 midfielders of the last 13 years or so.

Always a Fox? **** off.

Bit rude to Matty James to even be compared to Winks.

He schooled him last season at 34 years old even after all the injuries he has had.

Winks has contributed similarly to this club with the likes of Soumare. That is the conversation he belongs in.

Matty James was by all accounts a good lad too.

To be clear, I wasn't criticising Matty James. As you both have said, a good player and a good lad.

I was thinking more about where sits in the pecking order for those (not on this site, thankfuklly) who seem to believe it was an honour having him here.

Seven games done for Cagliari – 0 goals and 0 assists in both league and Coppa Italia.

Continuing where he left off.

Don't get this dig? Even when he was playing well for us, his role wasn't to get goals or assists, if was about doing the work before that.

But really davieG should be fired out of a cannon for reminding me that this **** exists

A central midfielder unable to set up teammates is a dud.

But his job was to get things moving for more creative players to do the final bit.

By that logic, I guess Kante was a dud? Same with somebody like Rodri (who's a better comparison since he's playing the same role and also a complete knob)

Rodri got 20 goals and assists the season he won the balon d'or.

Not comparable to Winks who plays football like a windshield wiper.
