Leicester City For Sale (Ongoing Thread)

The brochure is like something from Microsoft publisher circa 2012 - although there are Citibank contact details on it

The case of Leicester City for me is an example of how effective Sports Washing can be. When they first took over, many fans were very hesitant and worried about who the new owners would be. Fast forward 15 or so years and you have people that defend them like they were one of their own family members. Notice how in the stadium "King Power" is emblazoned everywhere, but there is little about the history of the club like you would find in other stadiums around the country. None of the stands are named after former players or coaches, and though we have a statue, it's for the former owner. Now he actually deserved it, but still my point stands. 

 

If you force a brand down someone's throat for long enough, it will stick. 

 

I will always be thankful for the great memories King Power gave me as a fan, but to be honest throughout their entire tenure they never really sat well with me. It's always been too much of a forced narrative and keeping the fans at arms length. In the successful years like many you had to think "how can I complain, this is incredible", but in retrospect the niggles were always there, like the way Top hogged the trophy on the day we lifted the title.

To be fair, they did take to the streets during the heady UCL away days. Bruges springs to mind but that was when Vichai was still with us.

As opposed to last season, squad assets plus parachute money year one and year two that was rumoured to be part utilised would have the club on a much healthier footing than now.

Which is why I mooted that the club must have been actively being touted for sale last season at a price 200m. 
But I would think that a fifty million difference isn’t sufficient to reflect where we are now 

surely should be 100/120 max. ??

The problem with having ‘an excellent track record of winning promotions to higher divisions’ is that, by definition, you have to have a dreadful track record of getting relegated to lower divisions.

In regards to sports-washing - There is a very good chance our prospective new owners will be even worse than KP. Especially if they involve Arab government big oil or American venture capital, who appear to be the only conglomerates able or willing to invest in English football clubs in this day & age. Especially post covid.

 

As far as we are aware, KP have never taken any capital out of the club via dividends. Our next owners - if they are American - will. So if they wanted to use the club as a promotion vehicle for their duty free business then they should be entitled to do so. But I did draw the line with the political slogans at the friendly matches last season. That absolutely qualifies as sports-washing.

 

To be honest. I don't think KP have been so much as ill-intentioned. They've just got club ownership so very badly wrong in recent years. So badly I'm willing to risk the possibility of potentially more nefarious company getting involved. As bad on me as that sounds.

I’d love a group of boxers to take over. Like a boxing version of Wrexham! Tyson Fury as the main owner and minority partners of Amir Khan and Kell Brook. Deontay Wilder to buy a 10% stake also.

I cheekily asked my Mum if she was interested/knew anyone who'd be interested in owning LCFC, but nah...  (Most of her money is still wrapped up in the company I'm working for, so...)  No help there, sorry guys.
