Red Bull can't buy us due to their stake in Leeds

I wondered the same thing. I think it might depend on the type of ownership stake they have in Leeds. There are rumors its less than 10%, and if its a non-controlling minority stake that might make a difference. But I think yes, long term it would present problems.

Its less than 10%

I thought FA rules say you can't have any interest in more than 1 English club?

I think what’s being suggested here is that Red Bull have a relatively small shareholding in Leeds so easier for them to sell it if there is any truth in the rumour.

Wish there would have been but I doubt it; has to be pure 🐂💩 according to that plonker on Bentleys.

Only Administration will get rid of these as these cancers want too much.  Similar to the Sheff Wed scenario with Chansiri.

I am more that a bit worried that we don't go up or even keep falling tbe other way. I am also worried that our ongoing poor recruitment actually hinders any sale. If I was buying the club and looking at the contracts and seeing Cullen, Burns 4 years, Skipp & Thomas 3 years, it makes me less keen. We would surely be better off not making any more permanent signings and stop bigging a digger hole. Keep it to loans or 1 year free agents. Rudkin, Glover, McAroon, Martin are all useless and should never work in football again

Can’t really argue with any of that. It’s just incredulous that those running the club continue to do so in exactly the same manner as what has failed in the last few years.

The only slight change this summer has been maybe some actual scouting for the Bristic transfer. Probably Macaroon led. The rest, Cullen, Burns, Chaplin, and then the loans of Watson, Howell must all have been heavily influenced by RM. Crazy in 2026 for managers to have such a say in transfers that have a 3 year impact when managers last a year at best.

Agree.  Can't see Martin lasting beyond 15 games with us rooted in the bottom 3, let alone a year

Think he's most likely talking out of his backside. The fact he was adamant that Klopp was the driving force behind this, yet had no idea Klopp no longer works for RB pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Klopp left red bull a month ago

We have no idea how long any potential sale process may have been ongoing

We'll be talking about someone investing hundreds of millions of dollars for a long term plan to get the club back to rhe Premier League.

4 or 5 additional bad contracts they inherit will be nothing.

Not sure the point of so many posts from people trying to spread more negativity.

Do you think our recruitment and contract management has been good so far this summer then?

Not sure if the club could afford to pay him off and recruit another. I fear that we are stuck with Martin until new owners are in place.

Unless his assistant moves up. Sacked by Barnsley, wasn't he?

Agreed, but you'd think that anyone supposedly that close to highly confidential information would know that Klopp wasn't even part of the organisation anymore, let alone suggest he may be in attendance this weekend.

On balance, I'm happyish with the contract management. We've reduced squad size, cashed in where we can and got rid of most the high earners. After years of ignoring the financial situation, we have now understood it, and taken steps.

As far as recruitment, not overly impressed, but we've needed to then build a squad, attracting players willing to play in League One, with virtually no transfer money. Its not that easy to recruit and we may have had to offer longer terms to het people in. And we are 2 games in with some players not yet fit, learning a new manager, and barely having got on the pitch.

There are other threads to discuss recruitment in: thread is discussing potential ownership, and they will have so many considerations, a few player contracts will be a very minor consideration.

One again I have some inside info, this time on the Neil Lal consortium.

It goes without saying that I'm not ITK but am happy to share what I have been told from my source within the club.

The reports of the £2m worth is very wide of the mark, and he is keen to address this quickly, so it's expected that some press engagement will be undertaken in the next week to clarify.

The consortium will have a worth of £500m + and should be considered a very serious offer.  KP will look at this as a viable exit option.

Just what I've been told.. but who knows??

Seems paltry in the grand scheme of things tbh, if they want to take the club back to the premier league..

No were near enough.

We have lost 300m in the last 5 years.

Sceptical anyone would buy us this close to the window when it’s not unthinkable we could be cut adrift before January.
