clearly a reason why Swansea sold him, HES DONE.. and naïve old Leicester and martin who clearly lives in the past with the signings he's made so far, we will take him and we will pay a fee too. honestly when does this end!!

That was me I believe.

Still wouldn't be surprised if he got between 10-15 goals for you over the course of the season, but he's never going to be influential in your play. Even less so with Russy in charge and his insistence on defenders racking up 10-15 passes before the ball sneaks forward.

Just a correction here. 

 

He isn't "done", he's 27. 

 

He's just always been like this. He's just one of those players whose entire skill set is working hard and being professional in training. 

 

He compensates for a lack of technical ability, footballing intelligence or athleticism with just simple effort. 

 

He's Hamza Choudhury without the aggression, he's Dennis Praet, he's Bobby Reid, he'd Iain Hume, I'll take some pelters for this but he's Marc Albrighton or Andy King. 

 

Only he's just not as good as most of those were. Kingy at least was a good goal scorer in this league, Albrighton's crossing was at least very good even if it was a bit redundant for most of his time here. 

 

Cullen doesn't even really have that. He never has really. He'll be popular with Martin purely because he's the sort of personality that's compliant and listens to the coach, an "apple for teacher" type. And Martin being a massive narcissist will love that.

It was all predictable, crap record, not rated by his previous club’s fan, no output at all besides the occasional goal.

 

Still - the brains trust on here: “Give him a chance, we can’t just play young lads, Martin likes him, he’s versatile, he’ll be good at this level”.

 

So many dunces willing to be burnt again and again, I was genuinely very wound up in the transfer thread because so many were so clueless but were all “get behinf him”.

Albrighton was technically excellent. He just lacked pace and a few flashy tricks. Expert long passer and crosser and was always in a game. He started 34 games in a Premier League winning season for a reason, not just because he worked hard.

To be fair being a Welsh International kinda goes both ways with me for people like Cullen and Ward. 

 

He's crap for Wales too and I have to watch him for two teams lol

I'm obviously not suggesting they're the same quality of player. 

 

But it's completely fair to say that Marc Albrighton's fitness, work ethic and professionalism are what defined him as a player above his technical ability, pace, strength or his footballing IQ. 

 

He was very well suited to his role in the title winning team but so was Danny Simpson, that doesn't mean Danny Simpson would have thrived in the Puel and Rodgers teams as we started to change style. 

 

Same was true of Albrighton, hence the qualifier I added in my post that his skill set was a bit redundant for "most of the time he was here." 

 

He became a burden long before his legs ran out because he had no guile, no creativity, didn't score, didn't assist, didn't really give us much at all other than hard work. Just not what you need when you're playing this kind of football, trying to control a game, break teams down and find pockets of space to create chances. 

 

For what it's worth, whilst I've no massive love for Cullen, the irony of Russell Martin loving him is that I do think Cullen would look better if he was playing Pearson football and his graft and work rate could actually be better assets.

It's a bit unpopular on here but Albrighton was really shit in his final few seasons, just relentlessly gave the ball away and despite working hard was a bit of a defensive liability because he was beaten easily, gave away a few penalties too.

 

Doesn't detract that he was absolutely brilliant prior to that.
