Same with Cullen. I’d much rather us go for players that have already shown they’re competent at the level below, but they’re young and can grow upwards with us and might hit a ceiling much higher than “competent at Championship level”. It’s all just another symptom of short-termism at the club, however. Martin doesn’t care if a player could be a top Championship player in four years’ time. He cares if a player can “do a job” for the next six months. But if you go up with a squad of players that were bought just to get you out of league one, you’ll have to spend a load of extra money to kick on again later down the line. 4

So that’s 36 matches where he didn’t find the net. He also contributed 2 assists. In the games where he came on as sub; he failed to score or provide an assist (only one game where he was brought on later than the 70th minute). My point? Don’t fall in love with a player from the highlight package! 1 1

But this is where some fans have to strip things back, and look at who is realistically available. Emil Riis scored 9 goals in the Championship last season, you look at the scoring charts from last season, the names above him won’t be coming to Leicester. You look at the younger players who took off in League 1 last season, Ballard and Tolaj were always going to get Championship moves. Wareham, there’s clearly problems there, otherwise someone would surely have snapped him up sooner. Then who do you have left? Pepple at Plymouth, if they aren’t going to sell him to another League 1 team, then who? Leonard’s stock at Peterborough is probably now too high, so you’re then left looking at more experienced players like Wootton and Marriott. So realistically we’re then left looking at strikers that Championship and SPFL clubs don’t want. But when you look at options possibly available, you’ll soon realise that Emil Riis is one of the better ones. As I said in another post earlier, if it’s not Emil Riis or Davis Keillor-Dunn, then you’re probably gambling on a younger striker who has a goalscoring record nowhere near as strong as theirs. 7

Exactly this, we already have our risky striker, we need someone who can be a stable options if Bristric isn’t up to standard 1
