Do you honestly think the players tried as hard as they could?

I think the current group are trying but are being hampered by Russell's tactics. That said, Russell cant be blamed for the glaring misses against Barnsley.

The previous few seasons though, id definitely argue that a fair few players weren't giving 100%.

Hmm, yes I do within the constraints of the shackled style of RM and such coaches. I think modern players are over coached, and scared. I’m struggling to think of many current pros who just spontaneously take a game by the scruff - maybe Messi, or another past example Beckham.
Who do you think wasn’t trying their best on Saturday?

I just posted similar thoughts!

I'm not sure you can question the effort of the current players.

You can question the managers style and the overall fitness as a result of that style but im not really sure most of this is on the players, bar the old time Donkey like Faes and Reid who are just shit.

Genuine Questions

Why spend money going to an away game if your entire experience is going to be relentlessly negative, while also making it miserable for people sitting around you?

Was in the stands yesterday for my first away game in a while, the people behind me blaring out “Leicester are going down with Russell Martin” every five minutes, or the “we lost last week, we lost today” chant, and Reid, Thomas, Watson and Burns getting abuse every time they touched the ball.

Ok look for something to moan about, fair enough. Have a bit of frustration, fair enough,  but deliberately creating a miserable atmosphere for the people around you is just pathetic.

If all you want to do is abuse our own players and ruin the experience for everyone else, don't go. Stay at home.

'How shit must you be w'e're winning away' is not supporting your team, in fact it's the complete opposite.

People areclapping and supporting the team because the fans can be 'the 12th man' , they see how important this season is and believe that by supporting rather than slating the team may mean a greater chance of winning games.

This!!!!!!!

I am somewhere inbetween.

I am all for booing the manager and players AFTER a performance like the Barnsley one (and most others this season)...

But I am fully against booing / jeering them before or during a game.

Even with the likes of BDR, I don't like when hes booed / jeered whilst being subbed on or cheering when he's subbed off.

I also didn't quite get the "winning away' ironic chant when we literally won away only the game before.

So yeah, I am somewhere inbetween.

On the contrary, I don't think backing the players helps. They've had plenty of backing and where has that got us?

Same with Martin, he deserves absolute dogs abuse. If he wants to insist in his negative / ineffective style of football, then he deserves the abuse.

It’s the same old from the last couple of seasons. The fans that go to games to support the team, are called the derogatory term of KPFC. The people who call them this, don’t seem to go to matches and deride anyone who does. They cannot understand that supporting the lads on the pitch, is what fans do and have done for many years. It makes you an LCFC supporter. They want an empty stadium to prompt the owner to go. They actually would sooner see the club die than have any sort of success whilst the current owner is here. We are up for sale so hopefully partway to getting a new owner. In the meantime, those of us who love the club more than we hate Top, Rudkin or Martin, will continue to support whoever wears a City shirt at any match. When we are eventually bought, we need to be in as good a position as possible and be ditching the toxicity at matches.

Get in the stands and sing your heart out so you can’t hear anyone else.

This derogatory phrase "KPFC" you mention - what makes that so derogatory might I ask? Is it because it implies you are more interested in sticking up for or supporting the owners, rather than supporting the club? Does the fact someone implies you aren't a true blue make you upset? Because

Seems to indicate that you do a fine line in implying other people aren't real fans, before we even get to the bit where you claim to be one of those who "Really" love the club

Have you tried not going around social media sites and forums acting like you are a holier than thou One True City fan bravely backing the lads and having a pop at anyone else? This may help you avoid being the victim of derogatory hate speech like "KPFC" in future. I have attended every home game this season, and have never once been called KPFC, nor do I find the term even remotely offensive.

When you went to the ground to watch the games, what kind of Ladbacking(TM) did you engage in - any chants? Songs? Shouting cheers of approval? Had a go at the ref for bad decisions? Walked away with a sore throat from yelling so much? Or was it just a bit of polite applause every now and again. Because I have been at the games, and if you are trying to claim there is some part of the ground where a brave pocket of positive Petes are passionately cheering the lads on but being sadly drowned out by "Toxic Boo boys", then I'm sorry, but that is absolute garbage. At best the average KP matchday is a  bit of cheering "Yay" when team news is read out, a cheer if we score a goal, a small chorus of "Come on Leicester" and a mass exodus if we are losing towards the end of the game. Did you stop to the end of the Oxford game, or leave at 3-0 or 4-0 like the rest of us did? I left at 4-0, and the streets were packed. Lets be honest, there is barely anything resembling an atmosphere in that ground, there are only a few areas that make any noise at all, and it is often the same areas  that produce the positive and the negative chants. If you can hear the negative bits so clearly - then there's a clue that the area around you is completely silent and doing absolutely nothing to "back the lads." If we are talking about odd angry blokes effing and jeffing, well they have been there effing and jeffing for decades, I clearly remember people yelling "f-ing sort it out Pearson" over 10 years ago, we had people invading the pitch to throw season tickets when Ian Walker was in goal.

You could try removing every single fan who has boo'd, everyone who chanted Rudkin Out or Sack the Board, everyone who is "Toxic" in the words of this thread. What would be left would not be an encouraging, positive, vociferous, noisy atmosphere encouraging our players to victory. It would be a ground half full of passive spectators who clap once at the beginning, once at the end (if they stop that long), sing no songs or make any noise during play. In terms of encouraging, it would be several levels below that provided by one individual pissed up on Pimms woman yelling "COME ON TEEEM" during a Henman match at Wimbledon.

EDIT - and to be clear, I do include myself in the "no atmosphere" bit. I used to chant loads, have a proper go at shit refs etc. Now nobody near me makes any effort to make a noise, so there is nothing to join in with. So I don't really try much any more, unless something extraordinary like a quality performance is going on. There was a midly positive noise at the start of teh Burton game and the Oxford games, people were backing the lads a bit then and they still easily chucked it away and imploded all on their own. The reality is, we make no difference whatsoever, and the delta improvement in atmosphere required to genuinely make a positive impact on performance happen would be enormous, and is not happening anytime soon, unless something to genuinely rally everyone (e.g. Fuchs or Pearson appointed as manager) and even then that might only be a temporary boost unless there is a proper turn around in results.

Well put, and moreover, if I had to really describe something that ties together the fan base, is  that we all fit somewhere on  the 5 stages of grief chart lol

  • Denial
  • Anger
  • Bargaining (if someone offered you winning the league and cup, but we get relegated you'd take it etc etc))
  • Depression
  • Acceptance

Not sure what you are trying to say. Regarding the KPFC, just look back on the many comments from last year where the phrase was used to describe anyone who actually tried to support the team. Some people can’t accept that you can do that without being a supporter of King Power. I am not holier than thou. I support my team which is Leicester City, I don’t need permission to support them.

How can you claim that to be absolute fact?? I bet a lot of athletes would take booing as a fuel to prove people wrong, which in turn makes them want to play better :dunno:. Obviously we arent seeing this but to claim your sentence as 'absolute fact' is just silly

I always find this a fascinating debate as it’s just turned into a bit of a cliche where ex-footballer gets asked about being booed when they played and, surprise surprise, says it’s not what footballers want.

That then leads to people just trotting lines about how out it should never happen because it doesn’t help.

But there must be some players out there with a backbone, mustn’t there?! A few who go “I’ll show you”…

Or am I meant to believe a Robbie Savage, Neil Maupay or Jamie Vardy type thrives off a stadium of opposition supporters giving them stick but falls to pieces with the sound of booing from their own end?!

And what if we replaced the sound of a ‘boo’ with a collective shout of “not good enough”. If the half time whistle blows and 30,000 people in unison shout “not good enough”, does that turn players to quivering wrecks too?! If so, they’re just not open to having their performance be appraised, are they?!

A boo is a boo. An expression of dissatisfaction or frustration. If that turns players to jibbering wrecks then we need a conversation about how to build more resilience in people.

As we used to say ‘A good day out spoilt by 90 minutes of football’.

All went/go hoping a win and run was just around the corner.

unfortunately it was Chelsea waiting round the corner.
