Rincewind Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Isn't mayonnaise a posh word for what we plebs call salad cream?
Carl the Llama Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 mayonnaise is revolting Damn straight. Watch out Ketchup Imperialists, the Mayonnaise revolution is at hand.

MC Prussian Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Technically, I ate it yesterday - kumquats and a mangosteen. Cue the kumquat jokes.
Buce Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Damn the munchies! I had a wedge of the mother-in-law's Xmas cake last night- now I'm desperately trying to disguise the hole before the missus gets home from work, else it's the doghouse for Buce...
Merging Cultures Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Mmm I had two mince pies today... Might have a third Technically, I ate it yesterday - kumquats and a mangosteen. Cue the kumquat jokes. So you are eating your turds?
MC Prussian Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Mmm I had two mince pies today... Might have a third So you are eating your turds? Nah, Kumquats are small Malaiian citrus fruits that you can eat on the whole and mangosteens are odd in terms of shape and size. They have a thickish skin and the eatable part is rather small. The experience left me rather underwhelmed.

If you technically ate them yesterday and are eating them again today...
sphericalfox Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 Yeah, it's hard to enjoy a good toast when it's already gone cold. You can tell I was in a hurry get it all done so I could eat it straightaway. 5 out of 10 is probably a fair result. Am I the only person who actually likes the toast cold? (in order for the butter not to melt)
Jon the Hat Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 I have eaten too much Stilton and now I feel a little sick. Should have cracked some red with it instead of the G&T. Mind you I can highly recommend No3 Gin from Berry Bros. Lovely stuff.

Lovely stuff.Might give that Gin a try ive not tried that one,I think I saw it in Sainsbury.Sipsmiths is quite nice.Have you tried the fever tree tonic , my wife insists I buy it at 4 times the price? As for cheeses a good Stilton, mature Brie or a Doncelatte that have been able to sweat. There is nothing much better than that in my opinion.
cambridgefox Posted 15 December 2014 Posted 15 December 2014 The wife made homemade chicken and leek pie tonight.Really nice,I do like the days she doesn't commute to Holbourn.
Strokes Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Am I the only person who actually likes the toast cold? (in order for the butter not to melt)No, that's what a toast rack is for. I hate it if the butter melts (must be butter too).

Meaning to try the fever tree, will pick some up on the weekend.
Merging Cultures Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Toast has to be hot with melted butter. It isn't toast otherwise.
sphericalfox Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 No, that's what a toast rack is for. I hate it if the butter melts (must be butter too). Glad I'm not the only one. I don't mind the occasion thick doorstop that's brought back to life through toasting with a slab of butter on it and it melts through, but I always do my toast and let it cool before I apply proper butter, and not that half n half shite.
Carl the Llama Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Cold bread is for peasants, toasted or not.
Buce Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Spag Bol. Mmmm.. Do you toss the spaghetti in melted butter and black pepper?
