Not sure if anybody watches the popular itv quiz show Tipping Point hosted by Ben Shepherd but it always pisses me right off when the contestants don't take the risk with the three counters at the end and just take their lot rather than the jackpot gamble – and Ben says "let's see what would've happened if you were brave enough."

It's not a question of bravery Shepherd you spam head.

My cat.

She brings home at least one mouse/vole/shrew most nights and ofc she doesnt kill them or eat them, she just drops them at my feet to run off somewhere & hide. Either her or me will re-catch them the following day or 2 but the occasional one will hide somewhere and die and the smell is just... urrrrghhh.

Tonight she brought in a baby bird, unharmed but tiny and unable to fend for itself, i feel so bad about it. I have made a nest outside (in a cage so she cant re catch it) and tried to feed it with tweezers and some water soaked bread but the chances are it will die :(

I know its only natural but it really does make me upset sometimes.

If anyone has any tips, they will be more than welcomed.

Put a bell on its collar.

Cats are stealth hunters, the bell gives them away.

It was once suggested that cats should ware a bell around their collar so hopefully as they pounce, it would give their 'prey' a split second warning.

My other suggestion would fall foul of the forums new guidelines.

She used to have a bell but last year I bought a new cat flap (to stop other cats coming into the house) which operates on magnets and where my cat wares a magnet on her collar to open the flap. However the bell is metal so it would just stick to the magnet and not ring. I have looked for a plastic bell, which wouldnt be affected by the magnet but so far not be able to find one.  :(

Must look harder and thanks for the advice..

Can you not attach the bell an inch or two from the magnet? Stitch in place if necessary.

Hmm i hadnt thought of that. Thank you! Now to go out and buy a needle and some thread, probably easier than a bloody plastic bell.

I assume from your name you are female (not much gets by me) & you do not already own a needle and thread?

I really don't know what the world is coming to..... I really don't. ;)

Young cats become better at stealth with a bell.

Your cat knows she is fed but never sees you catch anything.

They are either dead presents showing cat affection; or alive!

If they are alive her instinct is to make you learn to kill.

If she eats wet food, try and leave some dry munchies around.

like the snickers adverts; your less likely to be stroppy if your peckish.

Or you could just fit some kind of sleeve over the collar between the two.

Wow thats something else i have learnt tonight. She isnt young but not old either, around 6 years. I think she does want to teach me to kill as 90% of the mice are alive and never look to be hurt (no blood on them and run like mad when dropped.) I have recently bought a couple of those humane mousetraps but i guess she doesnt see that as me catching them :(

She does have dry food along with her wet food and has a daily dose of dreamers which she loves. I will go to the pet shop tomorrow and buy a bell and stitch it into her collar away from the magnet, as @Bucesuggested and fingers crossed.

Thanks everyone

My cat would still catch and bring small animals into the house despite wearing a bell. The only way to really stop them doing it is to stop them going out. Fortunately, as she has got older my cat has become more of a house cat. She very seldom wants to go out at all now so it's not a problem anymore. I try to give her exercise and satisfy her hunting instincts with toys. She particularly enjoys chasing the dot from a laser pen.

Truckers. Judging by the state of the turds left out the back of our industrial units.

One day, thousands of years in the future, those fossilised turds will be discovered and scientists will conclude that early 21st century man's diet consisted solely of beans, tea and reformed meat.

People that pronounce clique like "click". I might be wrong, but isn't it supposed to be like "cleek"? Even if "click" is right, it's shit.

The "click" pronunciation is American-English, I think. And you are right, it is absolute sheeeet, señor! *

But what if you post crap internet links to lure in an exclusionary, self-appointed elite? Is that cliquebait?

* Sorry, just watched "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" again the other day:
