StanSP Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Cant Berner play centre back? Maybe, but it isn't his natural position. Maybe we should look at the possibility of getting Michael Nelson or one of the CB's from Southend - they looked pretty good last night.
davieG Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 that's not my point, we need a central defender as we currently have only 2 that Pearson has shown any faith in available, what you said is like saying we'll never get a striker as good a Lineker, of course not but it doesn't stop you signing someone who is up to the standard of the division we're playing in to add much needed depth to a vitally important area of the team And you're missing my point. I said we may need cover but everyone seems to think that Hobbs and Morrison are not up to the job and that we should, could and must have someone better, you are talking about getting someone at our current level, I agree with that but most seem to think we're going to pick up a player of Tunchev's quality, we're not and that is my point.
Uncle Monty Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Where's Kisnorbo at, and if tunch is out for a prolonged period whack the legend that is powell at centre back
Wycombe Fox Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 ...whack the legend that is powell at centre back Good shout!
Collymore Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Cant Berner play centre back? I think we need someone with a bit of pace. When Hobbs got dicked on by that Scannel last night for their second, it really brought me back down to earth. Last night made me realise the difference between L1 and the CS. Hobbs looked like he was in slow motion. I hope it's not too serious for Tunch, and if it is, ....... well I don't want to even think about it
RowlattsFox Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Gilbert played at centre back at Hartlepool didn't he? I don't know how he did that night though. Whats the loan limit? because we already have Gilbert, Martin, Hobbs, Davies in the starting 11 and if we get another loan defender in that'll make 5, also people want us to get a striker on loan as well. Tunchev is an excellent player but injuries happen, and I don't think Tunchev is the difference between us going up or not. If Fryatt was injured then I'd worry because we might struggle to score goals but a squad of our size compared to other teams in this league should be able to cope with an injury.

Having thought about it if he didn't walk of the pitch and it's a knee ligament injury it's more likely to be a matter of months than weeks, if the ligaments just damaged the player can normally hobble, normally a strecher is only required if something has snapped. Hope I'm wrong like.
JoeyB Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Cant Berner play centre back? Berner can play CB. Steve Howard can be an emergency CB if needed. has played their before. Still have: Hobbs Morrison Berner. Gilbert/ Powell can play their too. Tunchev is good but not irreplaceable.

Alexikokopops Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Kisnorbo did his and played on for a bit against Sheff Wed.... he was out for what 5/6 months? He did the cruciate in. Lets hope Tunchev hasn't done that one. My mum did it and her knee was fucked for AGES. A literal age.
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Kisnorbo did his and played on for a bit against Sheff Wed.... he was out for what 5/6 months? Well exactly. I remember when Gabby Heinze did his Cruicate in the Champions League, he was able to take his own weight on it, Tunchevs season could be over. Like I say hope I'm wrong.
Ultra Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Great. If it as serious as the radio were making out, then we are well and truly fucked. Morrison & Hobbs at the back don't fill me great faith & we will have to bring in cover if he is out for a while. Would like to have seen Tunch rested last night, but oh well, he wasn't & now he's injured. <_< Look on the bright side. At least we no longer have to worry about the Peterborough game being moved..

Darkzzz_ Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 I hear big Nige is coming down to the game on Saturday. Get your best boots out boys.
JoeyB Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 I hear big Nige is coming down to the game on Saturday.Get your best boots out boys. Well When Tunchev is fit Big Nige has touted me as the centre back he wants to put with Tunchev. He see's me as the Lazy fook who lets everyone get past, so Tunchev cleans up and add's millions onto his value
Ric Flair Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 I've seen plenty of players be stretchered off and then only be injured for a short while, likewise i've seen players try and carry on playing after they are injured and be ruled out for ages. Let's hope Tunch just wanted to get back in the changing rooms for an eartha kit.
Steven Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 This from TB. Doesn't look good apparantlyhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A46007985 I have just left the training ground and have been reliably, very reliably, informed that we will not be seeing Tunchev in a city shirt again this season. Sorry to be the bearer of this bad news. As they say, one player doesn't make a team. Don't know how reliable it is though.

With suspected knee ligament damage? not many.

As they say, one player doesn't make a team. Don't know how reliable it is though. Nigel said they don't know how bad it is, and we will find out near the end of this week, so i wouldn't expect to her anything until tomorrow at the earliest, yes their can be prognoses (big word for me) but nothing concrete will be said within the first 24 hours, as if their is swelling it needs to settle before they can judge. Pearson added: "He's on crutches at the moment. It's too early to say what the full extent of the injury is at the moment but we should know more later in the week." I just fear the worst, but hope for the best Get well soon Tunch.
martyn Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Big blow for us although I don't buy in to the notion that the League campaign will collapse. We're still good enough to get the points required to achieve automatic promotion. If he's done his cruciate and gets surgery immediately, he should be there or there abouts for the start of next season.
Babylon Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 This from TB. Don't know how reliable it is though. Another random post taken off 606, from someone wanting to make out they know what's going on
AjcW Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 I wonder if that rumour of ivanov or whatever hes called joining us will pick up again now.
