Corky Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Great comeback by Arsenal, thought Barcelona would stroll it after the first half.
AjcW Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Credit to the brilliant Wilshere and Koscielny, but barca robbed of two penalties . Was the only one supporting them in varsity, but one thing i can come to a conclusion of is that Arsenal fans are the most deluded bunch I have ever come across!!
Alexikokopops Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 I opened my window to listen to the sound of the Emirates after that second went in. It was pretty loud. I'm looking forward to the second leg
lcfc_jme Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Decent enough game between two footballing sides. Koscielny was easily MoTM for me, was by far and away Arsenal's best defensive player and always seemed to find himself in the right place at the right time. Wilshere had a very good game and didn't look out of place against some of world football's elite, which can only be a good thing for the kid. Barca should've put the game to bed in the first half and just proved that if you don't take your chances, you get punished. Still fancy a Barca 3-1 win in Spain, but it'll be a real struggle for them if Arsenal score first. Arsenal's resilience is actually suprisingly good.
Guest ttfn Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Wilshere and Koscielny were fupping brilliant, carried the defence/midfield on their back respectively. I've been pretty critical of Wilshere up to now, saying I'd not seen him play well enough to earn the plaudits he was getting. Whilst I'd dispute that he "ran" the midfield as someone else said, he was excellent tonight - arguably the best player on the pitch. As for Koscileny, I thought he was VERY lucky not to give a pen away at the end. Had Maxwell (?) gone down I'm sure the ref would have given it; it was a definite push in the back.
Suffolk_fox Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Sorry, but HOW THE **** was Gattusso still on the pitch??? Surely just under the nose of the linesman, he should have walked! And seriously, he should be so glad that someone pulled hum away from Joe Jordan after he nutted him (and note he didn't go down like he'd been shot). JJ is a genuine hard man and would have killed him for sure. And probably eaten his spleen too....
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/robin-van-persie-barcelona-8516517/ Facilitated by dreadful positioning from Valdes, but was definitely a shot.

This. Valdes cocked up immensely but anyone who believes that was a cross is a bit of a muppet.
breadandcheese Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 This. Valdes cocked up immensely but anyone who believes that was a cross is a bit of a muppet. A cross-shot?
shen Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 A cross-shot? Judging by his directness throughout the whole game, I'd bank on an actual shot.
ScouseFox Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 He said in his interview he put his head down and hit it as hard as he could, and looked up to see it hit the net.
Edmund Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 Definitely was intentional. It's not the first goal Van Persie's scored from an acute angle. He looks up just before he takes the shot and knows exactly where the target is. Great goal!
samjohnson Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 Anybody seen the prices for the final at Wembley?? £176 for the cheapest ticket £338 for a family ticket of one adult, one child. Extortionate

Super_horns Posted 18 February 2011 Posted 18 February 2011 Couple of cracking games this week that lived up to the hype for once.
purpleronnie Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Tough game for utd tonight, I fancy Marseille 1-0.
Wymsey Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Marseille on top at moment. Can imagine them to nick this one.
Brown Fox Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Heinze is having a mare and I reckon in typical Man I fashion that Nani will do something and help Man U to a win
The Doctor Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Marseille on top at moment. Can imagine them to nick this one. hope so, can't stand manure. Also i can't stop laughing at the name "Rod Fanni".
Wymsey Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Don't understand why Carrick is playing. He's been poor and some of his passing have been woeful.
ScouseFox Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Michael Carrick's been learning the Matt Oakley school of football by the looks of things.
StanSP Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Bayern nick an away goal and take the lead at San Siro. Inter 0-1 Bayern. Finishes 0-0 at Marseille. Pretty boring match.
StanSP Posted 8 March 2011 Posted 8 March 2011 MESSI :D Get in there. 2-2 on aggregate. Barca go through at the moment!
Guest ttfn Posted 8 March 2011 Posted 8 March 2011 Barcelona's pressing is even more impressive than their passing.
