Fosse boys to be ejected - time to make a stand

Sent a quick email. I think you should boys should still go to the Reading game. Me and my mate are thinking about moving over to you lot next season if it works out. Good luck.

Hi,

I have just read on foxestalk that you are threatening to ban the Fosse Boys because a small minority of 22 people complained. I cannot imagine why these people have complained and can only assume it's some sort of knee-jerk reaction, as they assume just because they're chanting at a football match they must be hooligans. If they are not chanting anything abusive then I am all for it and think they should be allowed to continue. They create more atmosphere which is sorely lacking at the Walkers Stadium. If the people who complained were annoyed at the noise then maybe they should be asked to consider sitting somewhere else quieter like the family stand.

If the real reason is because they are standing and you are worried that if the group gets bigger other people will stand then maybe they could be moved somewhere where the standing rule is a little more relaxed; as is the case in L1 and the away fans section.

It seems silly to ban a section of passionate fans because a few I can only assume fair-weather fans have complained. If we were to have a bad season who is more likely to be still buying tickets? I think the Fosse boys will still be there; the 22 complainers I'm not so sure about. Alienating passionate fans makes no sense on any level and at the very least compromises should be reached before being banned.

Yours sincerely

Chris

So if me and 21 other people complain that the yellow away shirt hurts our eyes then we can get it banned from the Walkers Stadium? Now there's an idea.

To whom it may concern,

I would like to take this chance to express my great disgust of the treatment towards the Fosse Boys by this football club. As a season ticket holder I would hope that my club would be doing everything they can to encourage an atmosphere at our home games. Instead, it appears that you are trying to limit the freedom of expression of fans in games to clapping and the occasional cheer when we score.

Is this really the direction the club are aiming to go in? If so you will be alienating the majority of loyal supporters including myself.

I have a lot of admiration for the Fosse Boys and what they are trying to achieve. I imagine it must take a lot of time and effort to try and make a difference, and some courage to be able to sing even when the majority of the "kop" and sitting in silence.

I hope these words of encouragement and support for the Fosse Boys go some way to changing your distorted opinion of what us fans believe our football club should be like, and that you will be able to see that the Fosse Boys are there as an asset and a positive to the club, not a negative.

Yours sincerely,

People seriously complained that you were "too noisy"?

Some of our "fans" are absolutely unbelievable :(

It's not our fans, it's just people in general. I am tired of being surrounded by miserable, judging people. I don't know if this is just England or the whole world, probably the latter.

I don't go to home games much as I live in Brighton but I hope you guys get this sorted soon. Fu*king miserable bloody English.

To Whom it may concern,

I am writing to you after finding out about your moronic stance on the Fosseboys. I understand that you have given them an ultimatum of moving or being ejected from the ground, if this is true then it is an absolute disgrace. I am nothing to do with the Fosseboys but all they are trying to do is generate some atmosphere which is what enjoying football is about. I used to watch from the kop at Filbert Street and on a lot of occasions the atmosphere was fantastic and added to the experience of watching my team play.

These guys are no threat to any one and they are sitting in the ‘Kop End’ for goodness sake. This is another reason why you will find so many fans disenchanted with the club right now as they do not seem to care about real fans any more. I find it incredible that they could banned for being too loud at a football match. Perhaps the club would be a lot better off if they ejected the idiot who has put this ultimatum to them.

Yours appalled

Rob.

I'm still a young lad but I've had my season ticket from around the age of 6 or 7 I used to stand at the end of SK2 of the old spion kop with my Dad. I can remember the club threatening to chuck people out if they didn't sit down in SK1 &2 it didn't happen. I doubt it will happen at the Reading game either, the club is just using scar mungering tactics, they will not succeed.

Fosse Boys are a credit to the club trying to get abit of atmosphere going, why the club feel the need to block any attempts of fans trying to get atmosphere going baffles me, they killed of the N Block idea which was a good idea and know they are trying to get rid off the FB's.

I shall email my thoughts to the club later

I still fail to believe why the club would do ban people for being noisey. There must be another motive.

Edit: Webbo lol

The truth is that nobody will have complained, this will be a simply ploy to get rid of the FB and blame it on someone else, e.g other fans.

The Health and Safety down there just don't know what it's like to be a football fan, they see it as a battle and if the fans don't do exactly as they are told they will come up with something to make sure they do.

They will come begging when the whole modern football thing eats itself, which it will.

I hope the Fosse Boys are inspired by the support of the past, the days when we had the loudest fans in the country, keep it going and stick 2 fingers up. I'm just glad I got the chance to experience what it was like a few years ago before the Walkers, The Kop was awesome at times. For many reasons the vocal support now is pathetic, I'd love to see this new generation turn it around and my only advice would be, don't liase with the Club because recent history tells us they will only use this contact to their advantage.

I'm pretty impressed and overwhelmed at the level of support the group has received in such a small space of time since this thread was created.

As much as I'd like to say lets carry on what we're doing in SK1 and going for it against Reading in order to stick two fingers up to Kev, I do think it's important that we get the club on side. As a result of this, I completely support the decision made by the hierarchy within the Fosse Boys and I'll continue to sing my heart out in L1.

I've come to the conclusion that some of our 'fans' are massive *****.

Boring, stuck up, miserable, oxygen thieving ***** who should spend their weekends as they spend their weekdays. Pissing in their mail order slacks while sucking on Werther's Originals and trying to work out what their 50p bets work out to (in the hope of having some poor ****er to whinge at later in the bookies) or whatever the hell sad old tossers who make Victor Meldrew look like Zebedee do to wind down what remains of their pitiable existence.

If their pea-brained sensibilities are so offended by supporters creating an atmosphere in what is, after all, the Kop, what in the name of all that's holy do they get out of going to the football? I'll tell you what, the opportunity to moan at younger people for an extra 90 minutes and find something to bitch and cry about for seven days after the match because we aren't beating Barcelona 7-0 and are therefore shit. The kind of boring old **** that anyone with two or more functioning braincells avoids like the plague in any pub.

As for the club for listening to these wastes of blood and skin, who by my maths equate to around 0.1% of those who attended the match, I despair. I get the distinct feeling that Barclay is determined to use any excuse, however spurious, to kill the group. He's going to lose because the majority will defeat him and his ilk. Pricks.

I've had a shitty day.

Come on Fez, get the mercury on our side!!

Have brought this to their attention. They have to stay in the club's good books to get any sort of media access etc sadly so not sure what they'll say. I'll certainly try to mention it in my article on the Reading game.

Will email the club too and trying to raise the profile on Twitter.

Ludicrous from the club.

perhaps these 22 complainers would prefer to spend their Saturday afternoon perusing the city's museums, galleries, gardens and libraries, where they will be able to find all the peaceful solitude they seem to want.

Be sneaky  Was thinking to suggest getting the Mockery involved via you, but knocked the idea on the head after only 10 seconds of thought. Used to be a journalist and I'm fully aware of the way "news"papers work

Have sent this email to the Sportsdesk at the Merc and their chief football writer. Fingers crossed.

Evening,

Thought I would bring this situation to your attention, although I'm sure other supporters have been in touch. There is quite a lot to read through but, to sum up, the club received 22 complaints about the Fosse Boys being "too noisy" at the Middlesbrough game and have, as a result, threatened to eject them from the ground should they try to take up the same place again at the top of SK1.

The first post in this thread describes what has happened and most subsequent posts are from people who want to complain to the club about their treatment of the Fosse Boys.

I was sat near them for the Middlesbrough game and they got a lot of well-wishers coming across to say well done. They also sat down for periods of the game to appease the stewards.

As you can see, there is a real depth of feeling about this and it would be great if the Mercury could publish something to highlight how unpopular the club's stance is.

Thanks

Strikes me many clubs are deliberately seeking to destroy the generating of any atmosphere by fans - presumably in the name of some health and safety directive they feel obliged to follow.

In other words, identify any possible source of potential threat to health and safety and eliminate it. It's the shitty world we live in since becoming beholden to the EC, human rights legislation, the whims of serial complainers and the demands of their victims the insurance companies.

The Fosse Boys are no more than enthuasiastic voices in what used to be a proper crowd - not the seated excuse for an attendance we have now. But the trouble today is that the written complaints of one or two pathetic arseholes can be used as the excuse to counter the opinion of thousands of others.

And look at the little Hitler's who seemed hellbent on systematically provoking and irritating the City fans at Leeds. Oh yes our enjoyment of the match could be constantly interrupted by them racing up and down the steps and being generally objectionable.

Meanwhile in the concourse fans were being served the sort of shit for food that should be banned (or at least cooked properly, cos mine wasn't). Pity there were no officials interested in doing something about that - cos my body certainly had its opinion and gave me mild stomach pains for the next two days until what little of the slop I could face, was finally cleared.

And the moment there's any pre-match singing out goes the fan-drowning music on the tannoy system - another cynical and systematic action to stiffle the fans. It's utterly pathetic and a true legacy of the sort of government we've had in recent years.

People used to go to football matches to feel a bit of excitement and let a bit of steam off after a hard week's work. Now - like modern furniture - the authorities do all they can to ensure the football experience is as flat-packed, as constricted and as unmoving as possible.

Can't remember the last time I logged in here but I've just heard about this and it's made my blood boil. The club have really excelled themselves this time.

The Fosse lads stood right near me and Fez against 'boro and were bloody fantastic all match. Their constant singing encouraged a lot of people who don't normally sing to join in and there was a massive improvement in atmosphere. There was one woman who moved nearer us because she 'didn't like the noise'. Ludicrous, the kop aint for you love.

I will say though, as a few others have, I really think you should sit down and sing against Reading. The stewards can't do anything and neither can the moaning feckers. That way they still haven't won and people will start to take you seriously. Just a thought...
