Ric Flair Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 This would be a fantastic signing, I believe central defence to be more of a concern that at right back but Naughton is quality and would improve any side in this division so i'm sure Sven will look to strengthen other areas in due course.
Guest Bilo Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 Naughton will be a good signing and the RB position is one where we need some quality with Neilson vulnerable against pace and Lamey unconvincing. Pleased with this but not surprised by the quality. Sven's contacts in the game are second to none and this will stand us in good stead in the loan and transfer market.

HankMarvin Posted 13 October 2010 Posted 13 October 2010 Kyle Naughton loan deal scuppered by Spurs’ demands According to the Mirror, Tottenham full back Kyle Naughton is being denied a loan move away from the club, due to the Spurs’ insistence on his £12,000 per week wages to be paid in full, in addition to a six-figure loan fee. Naughton has been attracting interest from numerous Championship clubs, who would be able to sign the player on an ‘emergency loan’ deal for up to three months, despite the transfer window being closed. And with the former Sheffield United defender being given next to no first-team opportunities at White Hart Line, a loan deal to a club in the division below would benefit all parties. For one, Naughton needs regular first-team action in order to grow and (he is currently 21 years of age) find his feet in the game. Secondly, he is behind Younes Kaboul and Alan Hutton in the pecking order for the Spurs for the first choice right back position, so he is of very little use to them at present. It is believed that Portsmouth has been tracking Naughton for over a month now, especially as they look to add to their wafer-thin squad. But with the club still in such dire financial straits, coughing up the reported £12,000 per week cost, plus a fee, is not a viable option. Even though the move suits all three parties, the North London club is refusing to budge on their demands. To add to that, Pompey and Spurs are currently disputing a payment between the two clubs regarding the sale of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The south coast club owe Tottenham in excess of £1m for the player, despite the highly-rated keeper moving to Stoke. Whether that unpaid sum of money has anything to do with Naughton’s deal being blocked is unknown, but if it is, it’ll be hugely frustrating for the Fratton Park outfit, who are in desperate need of a full back of Naughton’s quality and calibre. 2 weeks ago
