Which Hobbs are you comparing them to exactly? Because Mee has been a big improvement on the Hobbs of this season.

Agreed.

Ricardo, Mee and PVA have not been an improvement on Weale, Hobbs and Berner.

You clearly know **** all about football. Go and spend your Saturdays shopping or something more productive.

can someone please teach this man how to CATCH a ball instead of punching.............................

anyone with any sense will pump ball in and put him under pressure .......... not winning my vote im afraid

And while Stowell is doing that can he teach Weale how to come for a ball, how to stop shots from distance, how to command the box, how to communicate with his defence and how to didtribute a ball.

He's going to be busy.

Has there recently (or ever) been a more controversial player for us in the starting 11?

I wouldn't even say Ricardo is divisive, the overwhelming majority of people think he's rubbish/past it/unsuited to the Championship/whatever [delete as applicable] and a few people think Sven signed him so he must be teh best ting eva!!!!, or that because he played a 15yrd pass to PVA which several passes later led to a goal he must be a genius of a sweeper who could add untold flashes of brilliance to our team.

I'm under no illusion that Weale isn't a problem, because he is, at the level we strive to perform at, but Ricardo is so far away from the solution to that problem it's unfunny.

I'm winding myself up just thinking about it, so I'm done with the Ricardo (his cheerleaders will presumably be pleased to hear) and other than for the 90mins he's between the sticks & will receive my support I'm gonna force myself to avoid thinking about the disaster waiting to happen

I've nothing against Weale he did us proud but just because I don't like the anti-Ricardo / Weale chanting mob doesn't make me think Ricardo is the "best ting eva!!!!" and to suggest that those backing Sven in his choice of goal-keepers think that is disingenuous and weakens any point you're trying to make.

I believe Sven prefers Ricardo because he plays in such away that it supports fast counter attacks something we've lacked for a decade or more. It's a key part of his approach to how football should be played. Ricardo is always looking for the quick out ball something Weale rarely if ever does.

Both keepers have their strengths and weaknesses but if you and others can't see what Sven is trying to achieve by preferring Ricardo over Weale then you must have a very limited view of how successful football is played these days were speed is of the essence when attacking.

But as we saw against Bristol City, Ricardo's eagerness for the quick throw can sometimes cause problems with team-mates not on his wavelength.

And even if the communication problems are sorted, it still won't make up for the fact the guy's less comfortable with crosses than Count Dracula.

We're doing well and I don't wanna ble our loss on any one player and I am not doing so, but, Weale over Ricardo any day; the guy is a bird, he flaps a lot haha terrible joke.

but we also have example's of Weale costing us 3 points, like at Derby last season, the second goal at Bristol was his faulty too and there is another mistake but i can't remember which team it was against atm.

so far Ricardo hasn't cost us a thing, Weale has, as for the comment about 40 clean sheets under Pearson, look at how Pearson set up, with little attacking ambition, biggest example of the difference is Andy king's form...

Leave the little scapegoat alone. Even though he isnt solid, he still hasnt conceded a goal that is his own fault. Im sure he will improve and sven will probs want him to start catching more balls so im sure he will still improve. IF not then sven will just buy a new keeper in the summer - simples.

I like Ricardo more than Weale because of the fast counter attacking style (where has Weale hangs on to it then boots it long to nobody so it just comes back) and his communication (which Weale doens't do).

Posted

Prefer Weale anytime. More aware of whats around him, doesn't panic whilst catching from corners, and his distribution (throws) are good. Only think he's not suitable for our so called 'promotion push' because his distribution via goal kicks mainly ends in a throw in for the opposition and his very woeful with long range shots.

Weale has absolutely no presence in goal at all.

He can't stop shots from range

he doesn't command the box

He doesn't communicate with his defence.

Will people please stop this pathetic love in with a very average goalie.

In general you're the same ones that didn't want Berner, Fryatt, Hobbs, Morrison, Kisnorbo or Hume dropped.

Time changes and teamns evolve, about time you tried it.

Is evolution always necessarily for the better though?

I'm not Weale's biggest fan, by any means, but this guy looks to be a completely different level of incompetent so far.

Morrison, Hobbs, Berner etc, we're all dropped, yes, but all their replacements completely justified Sven's decision to bench them. I can't see the benefit in playing this guy at the minute. He may turn out to be a diamond, but now is not the time to be chopping and changing, it's such a crucial period for us, we can't afford to give away points to allow Ricardo to 'gel' with his defence. You criticise Weale, but there's no denying he looked to be hitting some form at just the right time for the run-in.

New 'keeper must be Sven's priority in the summer.

I haven't noticed that we've given away a goal, let alone a point, due to Ricardo gelling with the defence.

He's a complete liability when it comes to communication, and he's very, very lucky none of his mistakes have been capitalised on. I find myself watching through my fingers sometimes. If you're honestly saying that this guy has proved to be more re-assuring than Weale was pre-benching, then God help you.

Where are you getting this from??? Because he dropped a cross against Bristol City!

3 goals conceded, 0 his fault.

Him and Weale both have the own strengths and weaknesses, Ricardo just shades it for me. Weales has bottle issues.

If your gonna have a moan, moan about the state of the defence and midfield last night.

Why would I moan about the midfield in a thread about Ricardo? Funny logic.

It's his inability to catch, and when he does punch it's hardly with conviction, is long kicking is woefully inept, as is the commanding of his area.

I do admire how he tries to build from the back, but, for me, the negatives outweigh the positives quite convincingly.

Don't half fucking suck to be right sometimes.

Don't half ****ing suck to be right sometimes.

Well I wish you happiness in your own gloryfication (Your Nibless Delimous).

But it won't wash....It never has...Stop with the blindness, the knives are now out, (For both)...Just not sure yet who will get carved up FIRST!!

He is shit. /thread

Apart from conceding the goal which he should have done better at, he did very little wrong. The chavs in L1 are an embarrassment shouting for Weale, and as for cheering whenever he caught the ball in the second half.

It seems to me that whenever the ball is in the air, people are hoping he cocks it up just so that they can have a moan and say "I told you so."

I don't think he did a lot wrong today. The goal was hit hard from 6 yards he didn't have much chance with that.

The problem is we haven't seen him make a save yet, The goals he's conceded (I can't comment on away games) have been unsavable. He needs a couple of good saves to win the fans over.

There were plenty of under par performances on the pitch to consider before you even get to Ricardo's performance
