Surely you only 20% on the profit you have made, if so BC would make 1.4 minus whatever loyalty goes to Maynard.

Whatever the figure you can understand why they turned down 3.5 & 4.

I don't have the contract so I couldn't tell you - but in the early days it used to be a straight 20% sell on clause, the club got 20% of whatever the next fee was there was no talk about earning the perecentage on the profit.

It was certainly put in the paper as a 20% sell on clause (nothing said about profit) and as a selling club, Crewe are normally pretty savy with their sellon deals.

is he worth that though????? :dunno:

Probably not... but if it helps us earn £90m in a years time with many 10's of millions in each successive year then its small change, really.

Can't see anyone else in the frame if Yakubu's a no go which it seems to be

I firmly believe (effectively) replacing Yakubu with Nugent whilst just maintaining Vassell & co (last year's line-up at the end of the season, compared to who we now have available) will actually see us weaker than last season where we would have finished 7th if the season started when Sven joined.

Someone like Maynard along with Nugent takes us to the next level, of course with Vassell, Gally etc ably supporting

I think sven should forget maynard and move on to someone else. The one thing that has been reported in all our signings so far is that sven has expressed a delight in the fact they all want to play for

us. Its seems pretty obvious maynard doesn't seemed to be bothered or he would have put a transfer request in. Que sera sera..

Crewe get 20% of any profit over £2.25 million.

I think it's worth bidding £5m for him. Not only is he already decent, his beat years are ahead of him. I think Bristol City want at least £5.5m for him. One good thing about that, if it happens? Akinbiyi would no longer be our record signing.

No, the big question is who the hell will we get instead, and if we don't will we be regretting it in 6 months.

Well we keep hearing about overseas players being on Sven's radar. Maybe something from that direction. Billy Sharpe being mentioned, who knows?

My point was, what happens when December comes and Bristol City are lower mid table and no contract extension has been agreed.

I don't care, I'm only bothered about us.

It seems we were trying to buy both Maynard and CMS so we must have at least 6m put aside for strikers, if Sven thinks he's worth it we'll have to stump up.

That's if he wants to sign of course.

I think we're gonna have to spend more than we want to here, but that might not be the worst thing. If Sven genuinely thinks Maynard will aid us in achieving promotion and is the best option, then we should go for it. If he's worth £4m now, and we tie him to a 3 year contract you could argue that his value automatically rises.

If maynard was really ambitious i would have thought he would at least like to have a chat with sven but bristol city might stand in his way of doing that.

Until the player is given permission to talk to a club, he can't

the only way we'll get permission is by paying what they want, the days of brown paper bags in service stations are long gone... I think

Yachts moored up in Croatian ports work quite well I hear.

The whole point is the yak didn't want to drop to the championship. Sharp would be class.

With the Yak looking very unlikely and Sharp the only other option I think we HAVE to get Maynard. For me Sharp is a good player but I doubt he could make the step up to the Prem IF we got there and Maynard might.

There are other players out there - we shouldn't go stupid with our offers - it isn't season over if we don't get him.

Funny you should say that, I just saw a sack of potatoes in Morrisons.
