The Doctor Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Beckford = Dj Canpbell mk 2 ****ing hell, at least give him a slight chance before writing him off.
kingfox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Peltier, Mills and Vassell were flaming fantastic. So strong in defence today, but the midfield lacked something Wellens playing too many cross balls, Fernandes didn't get a look in, Abe quiet and King tried but to no prevail. Beckford was wack, very very poor and Vassell did all the work. Peltier though was my man of the match, last two performances against Brighton and today have been Premiership quality in my view.
Corky Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 1st half we played well, and then 2nd half one of those famous Sven team talks, WTF does he say to them at half-time because every game i've seen this season we've came out in the 2nd half a different team, a worse team. Have you not just noticed the last two games, where we've scored within a minute of the restart?
ScouseFox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 This game has been an epiphany, people are realising Wellens has pulled the wool over so many eyes in the past two years. Johnson in 15 minutes was ridiculously better than Wellens has been in his past 3 games. Straight, simple swap for Boro.
Stevosevic Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 We looked good today. Comfortable and could have won, good point..
Guest ttfn Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Really? I thought he'd gone and borrowed Harry Potter's invisibility cloak. Well, off the top of my head he had 3 shots on goal, and I saw him involved in a lot of our best midfield play, particularly in the first half. Second half he faded, as did the rest of the team.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Beckford - poor touch & too easily went down. Had one half chance in the first 45 which he did well with but aside from that he was poor. Mills was our MotM IMO. Pelts & Konch looked good too. Going forward we lacked possession, but I thought Johnson looked good when he came on Vassell should have scored at the death. Fair result tho Sven just said 'a clean sheet is always a clean sheet' welllerrrrrrrrrrrr.........
FoxyPV Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 A bit disappointed to get just a point but in the end, it was as much as we deserved. We defended really well at times and again seemed to control the midfield but our lack of width is a problem. Beckford's touch and application looked heavy and apathetic. Vassell was brilliant at everything except scoring. Finally looking like a strong defensive unit (at last) Ah well, one more point in the bag - onwards and upwards for Boro.
Austin Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Classic case of I would've taken the result before kickoff, then left feeling like we should've snatched 3 points at full time.
rico Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 we never look quick enough going forward,King and Wellens to be dropped next game please

That was a poor challenge from him at the end, having criticised Brighton for their cynical play I should do the same with our players.
Father Ted Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Happy with a point at cardiffs scumhole. McNaughton finished with a bloody head Solid defence. Bring on Derby.
teblin Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Can't believe how negative people are. Nil nil away at Cardiff is a decent result!
Yojoe36 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Who cares, we got a point at Cardiff. FU**ING CARDIFF!!!! A POINT!! HOLY S***!! Did anyone else think that the Cardiff fans sounded thick.
Libertine Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 First 0-0 for us since Boro at home last year?
Matt Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Have you not just noticed the last two games, where we've scored within a minute of the restart? Fair enough, but that was as you say within a minute of the restart, which yes I sound like i'm contradicting myself but performance wise it's been poor. As i've always said I don't care about performances aslong as we win, goals win you games so i've been happy the last 2 games, but it's always nice to see a performance go with it. If we don't score in the first half, I worry. Similar to last season we are usually better in the 1st half, yet don't take our chances and leads us to not winning games, we need to take our chances.
Grewks Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 People need to be realistic and acknowledge that today was a very good display away from home, we made a GOOD team look average in the first half and they didnt trouble kasper in either half. We are not going to look as good going forward away from home as we need to be more defensive, as we was today. Positives - good point at a ground we always struggle at, and against a team who had 20+ shots last week - Johnson finally getting back to fitness - Peltier looks like he can fill the naughton role and konchesky looked fully fit - I actually thought king got involved more in the last 2 games than he usually does - Mills looked quality and so did bamba Negatives - Wellens below average, so was fernandes (only because we have seen how good he has been) - All the moaners on here who are only satisfied with 3 points every week Look we need to realise that today was a good performance, as long as we win at home any points picked up on the road are a bonus, just like our captain said today. win 19 home games = 57 points pick up 20 points away = 20 points current points = 12 Total = 89 points, more than enough
wattolcfc Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 we never look quick enough going forward,King and Wellens to be dropped next game please Thats because as soon as Wellens picks the ball up he stands on it and is so slow its unreal and a lot of the time gets caught in possession.
Libertine Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 we never look quick enough going forward,King and Wellens to be dropped next game please This. King isn't quick or strong enough on the ball for me and Wellens is alwats slowing things down.
21st Century Fox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 A point and a clean sheet from a team we haven't won against away for 3 years, its better than a kick in the teeth. Hopefully King and Wellens make way for the next game.
FoxyPV Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Cardiff's defence were superbly organised and didnt' give us a minute let alone enough space for a shot. is due to them for this.
shiv Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 1st half we played well, and then 2nd half one of those famous Sven team talks, WTF does he say to them at half-time because every game i've seen this season we've came out in the 2nd half a different team, a worse team. Why did it take us till the 94th minute to make our best chance? I said the other day, and people may laugh but I felt we needed to win today, if we won today we'd have almost been back on track after a disappointing start to the season both result and performance wise, we go to Middlesborough on Wednesday which will be a tough game and one I fear we will sturggle to draw. And when can we stop using this 'they're still gelling' excuse? Time to stand up and be counted lads. Apart from the last two league games where we scored almost immediately in the second half...
Dan Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I'd have took that before the game but our attitude, I agree with Thracian - we're not winners. I'll give us the positives in that our defence looked brilliant, Konchesky wasn't bad but he was the worst of the four - and that's being "not bad", Mills/Bamba solid as fvck, Peltier's brilliant, he needs to be an absolute regular. Kasper did what little was required. I think this is where the positives really end. The midfield was pretty hopeless, totally uncreative. Wellens did next to nothing, Fernandes, King and Abe were all pretty quiet too, our most creative player of the day had to be Peltier for me. I thought Beckford looked poor. He needs to start picking up some form because I think at the money we paid, no goals after 3 games is pretty poor, he's not really had many chances though. Vassell wasn't bad but his finishing is appalling for someone who's played for England, his header for all he came close he probably should've scored, and that one just before that which he blazed over, absolutely unacceptable. No composure, no awareness he had no one within 5 yards, just absolute shit. On the whole I'm happy with a point and I'm happy we're the first to keep out their attack, but the manner of it was poor, the second half was just totally negative until 85 minutes, league winners/promotion material do not look better in the first half then take their foot off the gas (of which we didn't bombard them first half, but we certainly didn't go all guns blazing, Cardiff were awful). Sides going for the top two go to places like Cardiff and try to win, our attitude is all wrong. I'll take a point but we need to improve going forward, I think Nugent is needed, fast.
