ScouseFox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I don't know what I'm looking forward to more, Wellens being dropped or Ambitious/SuperScout/Dan Petrescu getting himself banned again.
phildw Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Beckford gash. The rest except Kasper Pelts and Bamba should be ****ing ashamed. How much more of Svens bollocks do we have to put up with
Corky Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 we never look quick enough going forward,King and Wellens to be dropped next game please Yes. Danns and Johnson in, Danns on the left, Fernandes' at the base and Johnson at the tip of the diamond. Fernandes would look more comfortable there too.
Petchy Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 An open game where both sides could have won it. So unlucky with Vassell at the end though! I'll take the point for sure.
ozleicester Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 A fit Johnson is the final piece of the jigsaw, he looked special in the 15 mins he got
shiv Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Yes. Danns and Johnson in, Danns on the left, Fernandes' at the base and Johnson at the tip of the diamond. Fernandes would look more comfortable there too. Agreed... Not sure why Danns has lost his place in the team tbh as I thought he's been one of our best performers this season.
AyewJoking Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 We were the better side on the day but a draw was a fair result because we didnt look like scoring until vassell hit the bar. Frustrating more than anything else but theres still a long long way to go.
Number 6 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Pleased overall. Cardiff away never been great for us, another point and clean sheet is nice. Need Beckford to get scoring ASAP, looked poor today - moaning more than trying to get on with the game.
LukeyZade Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Back 4 fantastic performance. Beckford seemed shit. And midfield fed nothing upfront.
Matt Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Look we need to realise that today was a good performance, as long as we win at home any points picked up on the road are a bonus, just like our captain said today. win 19 home games = 57 points pick up 20 points away = 20 points current points = 12 Total = 89 points, more than enough I'm sorry to sound pessimistic but that's easier said than done, and that is a realistic view.
Grewks Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 FFS!!!! we are away from home were not meant to be as creative as home games, we played 3 defensive mids Abe, Wellens and Fernandes, it was a great point, we would have lost that game last year
ajthefox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 No-one should be complaining about today, there are negatives of course but the main thing is a solid defensive display, a clean sheet, a point away from home and the retention of our unbeaten away record. Mills was fantastic, best performance in a city shirt. Johnson looked classy from the little time that he was on and Vassell caused problems. Beckford was useless, Wellens was wasteful and frustrating and we were generally pretty weak in midfield. As I said though, you can't win them all and away point at Cardiff from a game where we didn't create that many good chances is nothing to put down. Onwards and upwards to 'Boro
easilee Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Effing moaning effers on already. If any of you younger fans had to go to footy matches in the 70's and 80's you'd have joined your local ballet classes by now. Despite what you might think, football is not played solely for your pleasure. I mean there are other things at stake like careers and Owners and shareholders etc. Back in the good old days, when we didn't think we were owed, a living, Money on tap, a computer, no beatings from parents, human rights, OR PERFECT FOOTBALL RESULTING IN 4 OR 5 NIL WINS EVERY F***KIN WEEK, we used to enjoy our football. You don't like what you see, don't pay your money. Or go and support Man U or summink.
Karljohn Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Mills was good today, much improved. If Wellens is going to piss about with the ball as he does then once again we need some lung bursting guys alongside him, King is not the answer when Wellens isnt performing. Johnson didnt put a foot wrong, watch out Richie. Happy with a clean sheet and of course 3 points at home and 1 away is a recipe for success but with no one to put the ball in the net its dissapointing not to have taken advantage today of their injuries and second half passenger leaving them with 10 men.
21st Century Fox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 With all those injuries Southampton should make light work of Cardiff.
Bert Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 On the positive side, we've kept up our unbeaten run along with a clean sheet. We should've won, no doubt about that. Failure to capitalise on our first half dominance has cost us the points in my eyes. I can't remember them overly threatening our goal at all. Kasper looked comfortable all afternoon. Wasn't impressed with the way we let McNaughton make us look silly though Fernandes was utter guff, and Wellens wasn't far off. I think he must have forgot that we were playing in White because he gave the ball away a hell of a lot, or just wasted it. Johnson looked very good when he came on I thought.
Grewks Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 I'm sorry to sound pessimistic but that's easier said than done, and that is a realistic view. It is obviously easier said than done, there will be times where we get beat 4-0 and there will be times when we win 4-0, there will be times where we play well and dont win, and times where we are poor but score a lucky goal, there will be times when we lose at home but win away. This is football, we just need to stay unbeaten for as long as possible. A loss at Boro is not the end of the world at all as we have played a lot of the top teams already, saints, brighton, cardiff, eventually reading and cardiff, even played the surprise package of barnsley, it will be games against doncaster, watford etc that will see us promoted.
DeclanMC Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 (watched on Sky) Today was a good game for our defense, bamba and mills looked solid and more like a unit than I've seen in a long time, since the days of Brown and Hobbs. Konchesky did alright going forward, but was caught out far up the pitch by McNaughton far too often. Midfield didn't make much of anything, wellens had a decent first half, but as soon as cardiff brought Whittingham away from him, he looked like he had nothing to do. Nigel Atkins on Sky was saying he hoped they wouldn't cancel eachother out, it looked like all wellens could do was cancel Whittingham out, without making too much himself. King looked sharper than in previous games but again his shots were lacking in precision, would have liked to see him work the keeper more in the space he had when he was taking the shot on. I would have never took Beckford off though, I'm pretty sure he would have buried Vassell's two chances if only him and Schlupp had been up front. Disappointed not to see Danns feature too, his workrate would have been a welcome addition instead of Gelson Fernandes, who had an off day today.
Matt Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Taking nothing away from Mills, and bearing in mind I believe alot of Reading fans were bitter. However when the Reading fans came on here saying Mills wasn't all he was cracked up to be I read certainly 1 person maybe more saying whenever he played games on TV he always seemed to have a brilliant match so like I said taking nothing away from Mills he did play exceptionally well today but just giving people something to think about and warning people not get carried away with his performance today.
brockmyster Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Another clean sheet can only help the defence's confidence but the reading fans do seem right about Mills pulling his socks up when hes on TV, hopefully he will continue his form across the next few games and the season. Going forward though just not looking very dangerous for long periods of time. Tink we've been missing Nugent, and nobody seems to run at there man what so ever!
TrentFox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 We were the better side on the day but a draw was a fair result because we didnt look like scoring until vassell hit the bar. Frustrating more than anything else but theres still a long long way to go. Agree. Thought Wellens was guilty of extreme naivety on that corner 10 mins from end - referee has had a word with Gerrard for man-handling Mills before the corner was taken .... and Wellens floats one out to no-man's land ! Why not put it on Mills' head and give the ref a decision to make ? Thought Mills and Bamba looked solid, full-backs significantly improved. Haven't seen Beckford play for us before - he made Yakubu look mobile. Is that how he's been playing ????
RowlattsFox Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Missed opportunity. Had the chances, need nugent. Johnson was decent when he came on, and danns should have came on for Abe. Beckford was terrible, wellens poor but mills, peltier were excellent. Vassell did ok but can't be missing those.
phildw Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Why is Vassell persistently played, and why didn't he go off instead of Beckford?! Vassell shouldve buried that chance at the end, poor miss. Becuase that's the worst attacking performance from a player in a city shirt for many years. Beckford was a disgrace today end off
Bert Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Back 4 fantastic performance. Beckford seemed shit. And midfield fed nothing upfront. Maybe that's why he wasn't very good.... Nothing played into his feet, as well as having lumps kicked out of him again. Another thing, the ref loved his whistle today.
davelcfc100 Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Thought we played ok, happy overall as I thought Brighton was a 1 off and we would be back to what we had seen in previous games but we still looked like a team and not 11 clueless blokes, only worry for me is beckford, so far what I have seen of him he has looked to greedy when he has the ball (Brighton game) and seems to have no strength and looks not interested at all, you can see he is very good but could do with a bit more effort from him, hopefully coming off early will be a kick up the arse for him
