21st Century Fox Posted 2 November 2013 Posted 2 November 2013 You's assume it's probably not the ones who were 'up for it' that are coming forward to the Police though. Otherwise we'd have The Stones and Led Zeppelin performing a festival in Wormwood Scrubs.

I think you'd have to be a bit naive not to think that a fair number of those coming forward were 'up for it' but are sensing an oppo for a bit of compo

It's not like fishing or eating meat has ever been illegal but "socially acceptable". I agree that it's a weird grey area. Especially when you have so many accounts of underage sex in Rock Folklore that gets given the blind eye.

Especially when you have so many accounts of underage sex in Rock Folklore that gets given the blind eye. And then it's back to the question of what should be the legal age when clearly age is not the correct measure and maturity and understanding are better measures. It could be argued by the religious and the scientific that the age of sex is when God allows / evolution allows girls to produce eggs
Jon the Hat Posted 3 November 2013 Posted 3 November 2013 Saville was clearly in a league of his own, but you can imagine that some women look back and consider they were taken advantage of by men in positions of power.
Charl91 Posted 3 November 2013 Posted 3 November 2013 I wonder if they regret it or not. At least they won't have to pay for a care home. They probably regret getting caught.
ozleicester Posted 4 November 2013 Posted 4 November 2013 There is an interesting point there about retrospectively criminalising acts commited before they were made illegal. I think it's blatantly obvious that a lot of these girls were 'up for it'. In the modern day we have decided that it is an immoral and punishable offence to take advantage, but back then it was ok, so should these people be punished now? What happens in 30 years when things like fishing and eating meat are illegal? Are we all going to be retrospectively charged for eating meat today? Im not
Mike Oxlong Posted 4 November 2013 Posted 4 November 2013 They probably regret getting caught. Im not Wow!
21st Century Fox Posted 15 November 2013 Posted 15 November 2013 Another one...... Folk singer Roy Harper charged with sexually abusing a girl from the age of 12.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 November 2013 Posted 15 November 2013 It was a good time for a DJ in the 60's. They had teenage girls throwing knickers then themselves at them. Why would any of them think 'this could be illegal in 50 years time maybe I should just masturbate instead of sleeping with a beutiful and sexy girl.' It's the way it was though, and it was totally acceptable then. Never questioned, and just the norm on the music scene. Loved it myself.I never knew anyone who didn't. It was all part of the sixties scene. Now, nearly fifty years on, they are judged by today's standards. All these people crawling out of the woodwork all these years late, and all together. It's just the latest trend to have a witch hunt, and grab any cash that might be going. Long live the "sixties scene", it was well and truly "way out", and free and easy. A different world the that of today. Very happy memories of a great era.

Fox92 Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Did anybody watch the documentary with Theroux? Might watch it now, looks pretty interesting. Saw this article other day, still disturbing now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/01/jimmy-savile-caught-on-camera-groping-a-girl-in-front-of-her-mot/
Wymsey Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Yes, felt painful listening to some of the victims revealing what he did to them. Be wary that there's some short clips showing him being 'touchy' to some girls. Thought Theroux has done this documentary well, but is gutted the first time he met Savile for a first documentary (around 4 years before he died) that no one came forward against him at the time.

Normally I like his documentaries but I turned this one off towards the end. Get back to the Weird Weekends Louis!!

DB11 Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 Going back through the first few pages with the benefit of hindsight is amusing. The amount of people defending him
Fox92 Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 Just watched the documentary... Some of the stuff is in plain sight but hindsight is a wonderful thing I guess. His PA still doesn't believe he did anything wrong though, that was interesting, it just shows how influential (I guess) he was.

Wymsey Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 Isn't Rolf Harris due to be released soon (meant to serve at least half of total sentence)?
