AKCJ Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 After scoring another 2 goals tonight against Spartak Moscow he's just five goals short of equalling Gerd Muller's incredible tally of 85 goals in a calendar year. Will he break the record? Will he become the best player ever in doing so? Think of this as his count down thread, I for oen think he'll smash the record. Here are his remaing games. (a) Levante (h) Alaves (h) Athletico Bilbao (h) Benfica (a) Real Betis (h) Atheltico Madrid (a) Valladolid
Amin Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 I remember reading about the incredible scoring records of players such as Muller, Pele and Puskas, thinking that it was impossible for anyone to score that many goals in modern football, yet Ronaldo and Messi are doing just that.
Ashley Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Can anyone find that picture with the only times hasn't scored?
MPH Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 I Dont think my mind could cope with the concept of Messi playing in England.... but it would be amazing to see him play over here one day...
Jimothy Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 I Dont think my mind could cope with the concept of Messi playing in England.... but it would be amazing to see him play over here one day... How would he cope on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?
SystonFox Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 I Dont think my mind could cope with the concept of Messi playing in England.... but it would be amazing to see him play over here one day... It will never happen

My bad just saw Benfica on the list!
Danizen Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Huth would never get near him. Balls. Him and Shawcross would have Messi for dinner.
AKCJ Posted 20 November 2012 Author Posted 20 November 2012 There is another round of champs league as well think December 5th plus copa del ray? My bad just saw Benfica on the list! Alaves in the Copa Del Rey and Benfica in the Champions League
MPH Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 How would he cope on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke? he'll probably end up using one of those full body suites like they sometimes do in athletics! It will never happen I dont know if Barca would ever sell him... or if he would ever want to! Man City are probably the only team who could afford him...
Fox92 Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Incredible record, even if he doesn't equal Muller's.
ozleicester Posted 21 November 2012 Posted 21 November 2012 MEHssi.................What about Beckford ?
AKCJ Posted 21 November 2012 Author Posted 21 November 2012 MEHssi.................What about Beckford ? That's a good point. Do cup goals count for Messi's record?
Aus Fox Posted 21 November 2012 Posted 21 November 2012 Statisticians any idea how many games Muller played that year compared to Messi this year?
Amin Posted 21 November 2012 Posted 21 November 2012 Statisticians any idea how many games Muller played that year compared to Messi this year? Muller played 60 games, Messi is on 62.
Finnegan Posted 21 November 2012 Posted 21 November 2012 At the risk of instigating a boring and age old argument, given they've been scoring at a very similar rate, is Ronaldo not also fairly close to this?
Bayfox Posted 21 November 2012 Posted 21 November 2012 At the risk of instigating a boring and age old argument, given they've been scoring at a very similar rate, is Ronaldo not also fairly close to this? Not sure but who cares, he's only the 2nd best player on the planet....
ealingfox Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 At the risk of instigating a boring and age old argument, given they've been scoring at a very similar rate, is Ronaldo not also fairly close to this? After last night Ronny has 61 for 2012, so no, not really.
