Anthony Knockaerts "Future"

For me Knockaert needs to improve his decision making. There is no doubting his ability and potential, but he needs to work on when he does a trick, or plays a simple ball. Bit of work needs to be done on his defensive game by closing down and tracking back. If he masters those, he could single handedly win us any game at any time.

That said, that's why he's playing for Leicester City and not Barcelona - because he hasn't mastered those traits, yet.

I think this is fair. I think that NP recognises this. Our approach, so far this season, seems to be to get the team working hard up and down the pitch. Get the simple things right and get the team playing for each other. Simple balls, closing down early and everyone tracking back. It may not be pretty but it works. You can work on the other stuff later. Why would you, therefore, include a player who is not demonstrating this? I think he will get it and will be much improved because of it. There is room in the game for both and a player with a good footballing brain and flair is a real asset. Nobody minds if you try something 'special' and it doesn't come off if you are also doing the simple footballing things right.

I think what Knocky needs to do is copy Andy King,he bearly ever gives the ball away.He has mastered this in the last two season by rarely being in possession of the ball.

I hate being associated with you lot. You make our fanbase utterly laughable.

Says the idiot with "Nugent is rubbish" for a signature.

Obvious child is obvious.

Two very good posts.

Even a player as special as Messi participates in quick passing moves with the rest of the team for most of the time (and his off-the-ball movement is so good that his contribution in this is exceptional), only occasionally doing something out of the ordinary such as a sudden turn of speed or direction that takes him past an opponent or gives him shooting space, a shot from an unlikely situation, a deadly pass.  The unpredictability of this special piece of wizardry makes it even more effective.

Knocky could play a similar role for us (except for the turn of speed!).  He has the ability to initiate and encourage quick-passing moves in the team because he is particularly good at snappy, accurate passes and makes himself available to continue in the move.

It's understandable that NP is concentrating on making it difficult for the opposition to score, given how leaky we were in the second half of last season.  And given that we are experimenting with various systems, it's hardly surprising that we aren't as fluid as we would like to be.

I'm hoping that after a few more "stabilising" games we will look to play more attractively, and that it will coincide with our flair players being given more opportunity/responsibility and responding to it with an improvement in form.  This will come at about the time when we start to play the more fancied teams so we will certainly need to be able to raise our game by then.

He told me in no uncertain times that either he or NP would not be here to start this season so I guess he either assumed NP was going or tried and failed to engineer a move away.

Either way, from a spectating point of view, it's far more exciting with him in the side. We must be about the worst side in the whole football league to watch.

You come on here with all your inside knowledge and misery, clearly intent on ruining my day and grinding dog turd into any final remaining hope I had in the Manager or our most creative player.

I like the way you roll.

It is interesting that he, Knockaert and several other players are rumoured not to be enjoying playing under NFP but none of them have asked to move in any kind of official way.

So either they are not that unhappy or the loyalty bonus must be something special.

On the side'

Does anyone else think that this loyalty bonus is counter productive, instead of a nice clean break where the player asks to leave and is moved on, we have grumpy, uncommitted players trying to engineer a move without losing their money and disrupting everything and everyone around them.

In my opinion his head has got way ahead of his current status in our squad and the game in general.

To start with I criticized Nigel for not picking him, and I do strongly believe without more creative players in our first 11 we wont go where we want to, however it's also now clear to me that this lad needs bringing back to reality or else we'll just have a self proclaimed genius of a show pony liability on our hands.

I don't think this is the case at all, Pearson has gone on record as saying Knockaert doesn't enjoy not playing and struggles to accept it. He just loves playing football. I actually think Nigel will handle this ok, it's just he doesn't know how to use him when he does play him. The talent is there to build a side around him but he must be played in a free role off the strikers.

Think me and you need to have a sit down and sort him out pal - just like we did with Steve Brookstein all those years ago!

Having seen him for the stiffs the other night I'm quite sure he is a right little johnny big spuds.

Needs to wind his neck in and knuckle down, good things will come to him both here and beyond in time if he does, if not...........

The irony is, that it was probably him that saved nigel his job. I would love to understand whats happening behind the scenes at the kp but im sure its not all rosey.

Fook that, I actually like the fact he thinks he's the bollocks. He's an arrogant little bastard and that's a quality some footballers need. He produced some of his best football last season after being dropped and supposedly read the riot act by Pearson. Those final few league games and the play-offs he was superb at times. He's the sort of player that will protest at not being picked, will infuriate the manager and staff but will win you matches on his own. They knew this when they signed him and Nigel has said as much. We've already got enough conformers and battlers, we need a match winner and he is it. He'll make mistakes and will get slated but he'll also provide us with memories.

Anyway, even the folk on Bentley's Roof who are notorious for being miserable and abusing our players think Knockaert's attitude in the ressies on Tuesday was spot on? I was shocked given what you've written.

I can only assume watching a player trying to go the whole of the opposition on his own without passing then losing the ball (at times in very dangerous places) including trying to walk it around their whole side out of defence in front of our own box and losing it nearly costing us a goal means he did well?

His attitude was 'I'm better than this, should not be here, and I'm going to show you that by making this lot look shit'. He didn't, and was a liability at times, and did not stand out at all, although granted he did play some nice passes here and there.

His potential is obvious even to the most elementary Footballing novice, as should be his attitude, which seems to have got way ahead of himself.

Surely that's the response you are looking for if he is playing in the reserves? Results in that level mean fook all. Id rather him try and take the piss to make a point than just resign himself to mediocrity.
