stu Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Allam-exclusive-called-Hull-City-Tigers/story-19634384-detail/story.html 'In an exclusive interview with the Mail, Assem Allam also admitted he would personally prefer the club to be known simply as 'Hull Tigers'. "Hull City is irrelevant," he said. "My dislike for the work 'City' is because it is common. "City is also associated with Leicester, Bristol, Manchester and many other clubs. "In the commercial world, the shorter the name, the better. The more it can spread quickly. "It is about identity. City is a lousy identity. Hull City Association Football Club is so long." The confirmation comes after weeks of speculation following increased club use of an amended badge without 'AFC' on the logo.' He must really hate us...
AKCJ Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 "Hull City Football Club" is one of the shortest names in English football.
Guest Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 At least we can all agree that 'Hull City is irrelevant'
Fox92 Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 It is different to be fair. Although it does sound like more of a Rugby team name.
Guest Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Someone post the vid I'm surprised we've made it this far without it happening already to be honest
jonthefox Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Sounds too American. Anyone remember that tv ad with the 'middlesbro red sox'?.
FrankieADZ Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 will give them more chance to sing that mauled by the tigers chant then
Finnegan Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Manchester City one of the fastest growing brands in football. Who the **** are Hull? What a clown.
Bert Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Hope with them Elephants outside the ground we won't be called Leicester Elephants.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 will give them more chance to sing that mauled by the tigers chant then My favourite bit is the guy in the grey shirt after 6 seconds, who is standing there, enjoying the fact that his team are winning at the Emirates, but hopelessly conflicted by the fact that he is surrounded by a few hundred morons. His face is a perfect mixture of pride and embarrassment.
fleckneymike Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 This was reported about a month ago. Fans were worried they were being rebranded by 'stealth', the club completely denied it, said people were being paranoid etc etc http://twohundredpercent.net/?p=23752 Cardiff have sacrificed their kit, Hull their name, all for 50 pieces of silver and a brief moment dining at football's 'top table'.
Voll Blau Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Let's hope Hull fans put up more of a fight than Cardiff did...
breadandcheese Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 "City is also associated with Leicester, Bristol, Manchester and many other clubs." Hull Tigers unique.....erm.... Leicester Tigers?
Swarles Barkley Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Hull city tigers- isnt this the new ipl franchise...
Cincinnati Fox Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Thank god our owners don't have any ideas like this. make them sound like a u10 team!!
Dan Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 How do you know they don't? Another step in the wrong direction on the whole. Another club who's name was fine, had been there for over a hundred years, scrapped for some cringey NFL style name and I can probably guess why too, the same reason any club does anything in football. Stupid.
Tincy Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Hull City Tigers sounds like a name on PES when they can't get the official team name.
Ozwin Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Tbf if they sort the badge out and rebrand a little they could do quite well. They are so bland that I can see why they'd want to change it up a bit.
Kitchandro Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Some of these rich businessmen are so unbelievably thick. I'm not sure how they've managed to be so successful when they talk so much nonsense.
Guest MattP Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Think he would have dared say that "Hull City is irrelevant" had they not got promoted last season? Football fans will tolerate anything these days a for a bit of success. If we go up Top should come out and take a dump on the shirt, bet he would get a stading ovation coming off.
Babylon Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Hope with them Elephants outside the ground we won't be called Leicester Elephants. We never forget.
