Freeman's Wharfer Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 We talk about thugs at football matches, and walking away from aggression but the police or should I say certain police are as much of thugs and try and antagonise fans as much as some fans. Like the lad arrested near us in the ground yesterday, it appeared he did nothing wrong but the police singled him out, no problem there, but the youngman offered no resistance but was restrained all the way down the stairs, no attempt to use cuffs to control , I work within the criminal justice system and know about the rules on use of force, and it was excessive with the person being compliant. Then after the game a ' police officer', saw my friend and his young child walking in the crowd and had a little room to move but flatly refused to move the one step to the side, just a bit of common courtesy, but no showed the higest level of arrogants, and attitude, and when I comment to my friend, his colleague spoke to me in an aggressive manner, hence I put him in his place. So from my experience of the day I saw no trouble at all, and the only aggressive behaviour was from the Derbyshire constabulary, if I dealt with the public in the manner they did I wouldn't have a job, but they hide behind their powers. Police are wankers at football. Always have been and always will be. They get just as much of a buzz out of confrontation as the lads involved do, only difference is 1 group are allowed to have metal sticks. Agreed. Police at football just seem to be a different breed. I think it comes down to three things: 1) the type of police that love giving people a bashing and a bit of a scrap know that football is an opportune shift to get this 2) the type of training they have to have is very much around crowd control/riot control so they go into such work treating it as if it were a riot/unruly crowd (when the vast majority are law-abiding, normal citizens) 3) who wants to work a shift on a Saturday? Those who don't play or go to watch football themselves! I think they therefore just don't understand football and the mentality that goes with it meaning that you have two groups who just do not understand the way the other behaves = tensions
The Year Of The Fox Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Was tempted to make a complaint to Derbyshire police about that incident in case he made a complaint against them, and for the aggression shown by their police to law abiding supporters. The reason they probably let your mate go with no charge would be they had no evidence, no charge, and as they man handled him when he was compliant and made out they did him a favour, no complaint about his treatment from him, as they must de-escalate any use of force at the earliest opportunity, and as your mate was compliant from the start, they broke their own rules by escalating the use of force without course or reason, basically abused their powers. I dont quite know how it works he's been fined 90quid so he has been charged to some exrrnt
fox_favourite Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 I never understand why some 'fans' feel the need for violence??!! What does it achieve? It just smells like 'my cock is bigger than yours'. GROW UP! We're are all human beings and for god sake its a game. I'm a massive and passionate leicester fan and always will be, but some need to stop and think about why the minority think violence is acceptable. In the future I inend to take my child to a game. But some tits make it not possible as due to their lack of thought and stupidity. I don't mind a bit of banter. Hell, one of my mates is a forest fan. But it doesn't mean I want to beat him up when we win/loose or draw. Please use your brains and enjoy it for what it is, a sport and support your club in a positive way. Ranter over. I know most city fans are decent people. It just annoys me when some think its acceptable to start a fight for the sake of it!!!
KFS Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 There's some fvcking melts in this thread. I wasn't there but I gaurentee it was nothing more than a few slaps and missed thrown punches. Some of the vocabulary used in this thread would make you believe that a full scale bloody riot kicked off. It's simple, raging youth hormones coupled with a sense of identity that football teams create will mean conflict. The police are there to contain it and do it to good effect because deep down everyone is scared for seeing the scenes of the 80's re-emerge. It's not worth arguing about it, because FV has been completely found out and the offences connected to it in the modern day are next to null. (Trust me, I wrote a dissertation on it, it's bloody hard to find cases) Jesus, you'd think there was a sudden re-emergence of rising foot soldiers!

If you weren't there, you haven't really got any right to comment on this incident. I didn't see the fight itself, but I can guarantee (because I actually saw it, I'm not basing my view on an assumption based on the probability of it being something serious), that the guy by the railway station hadn't just been the victim of a few slaps and missed thrown punches. I'm young, I'm passionate about my football club. I don't feel the need to go around attacking fans of other clubs and you know what? I don't want to be associated with anyone who does. Don't defend these morons, or pretend that it's no longer a problem, just because 'it's not as bad as it used to be'.
Ivers18 Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 I was involved i one of the incidents i was walking back to station with my mates and as about 10/15 derby lads jumped over the harvester gate my mates ran and left me, i carried on walking as one approached and asked who i was, leicester i told him, he turned round and said thats okay hen so are we, as i went to walk off the guy hit me from behind so i started scrapping with 2/3 of them until the rest of their boys ran over and pummelled me to the ground where i was proper filled in ahahhah! I dont see anything wrong with scraps at footlball but not when a 15 year old lad is outnumberd 12-1 by blokes

Tell me where in that post I defended them?Maybe it was my tone, but you seemed to have been misguided. The premis of the post was to highlight that we shouldn't get all hyped up by something that won't happen at the next game or probably the next ten games. Anyway, what's done is done.
Ric Flair Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Chants about Mick Philpott are a bit naughty, but sadly you'll always get things like that started at games. I have been guilty in the past when sweating to use the phrase " i'm hotter than Mick Philpott's kids " poor taste and perhaps not very funny, but i'm a sucker for a metaphor.
MrSpaM Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Pretty funny really. The Derby lot were waiting for us in a group of about 30 on the way back to the station. Didnt say a word to any of us lot, but chose to start on a 15 year old kid instead. Yeah your well hard! morons

I walked past them through the middle whistling a Leicester tune and nothing was said. it's funny how they pick out the younger lot That's provocation If ever I've seen it! Is this the 2013 equivalent of smashing an opponents boozer? I can only guess the DLF's 'Whistling the Leicester City Classics' CD didn't arrive from Amazon in time for the match.

The Year Of The Fox Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Good set of mates you've got there kidder. I was thinking the same. I don't like violence but I'd have no hesitation in getting stuck in should we have been targeted in the first place
Finnegan Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 In case anyone wasn't aware, DT used to be a PCSO.
kylestyle06 Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 In case anyone wasn't aware, DT used to be a PCSO. Does that mean he has as much power as me and you by doing a citizens arrest?
Finnegan Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Does that mean he has as much power as me and you by doing a citizens arrest? Uh, yes, probably. But he gor to wear a hat.
