Your First Leicester Game

A home game at Filbert Street, around Christmas or new year 1963, it may have been Crystal Palace but I will have to look that up. My Great Uncle took me and I loved the atmosphere. It was frosty and misty and there was a strong smell of onions.

We drew both games 0-0 with Bristol City that year and finished bottom . I'm blaming you for all our misfortune now !!

I get that a lot :(

Id been as a young kid but the first game i can remember was at home to Liverpool when Andy Peake smacked that 30 yd screamer into the top corner.

Goal of the season that year (I think?) and I was hooked...

About 1993/94 . Id just moved up to live with my dad and my uncle who id never met took me to filbert street to watch city in the carling stand. Really high up scary as hell. We lost 2-1 to oxford utd I think but I was hooked and went to most home games in my time there. Last game was a 3-1 win against spurs. Sat in tue kop that time amd had a good view on klinsman scoring the last goal.

1 September 1894 Leicester vs Grimsby, I remember it like it was yesterday. We lost but still very fond memories of that day.

I think my dad took me to a few when I was younger but I have no recollection of them. The first game that I remember being at was the last league game at Filbert Street the 2-1 win over Spurs I was sat in the Kop end

I can't remember the year exactly, maybe late 70's or very very early 80's?? I was born in '72 by the way.

It was Norwich at home. On the way to the ground we stopped at Needham St/Humberstone Rd traffic lights. Who should pull up next to us but the fvcking Krankies!!! Asked my dad where the ground was and followed us there. They gave me a big pile of "I'm in Jimmy's Gang" stickers. I was real popular at school when I was dishing them out!!!!

Anyway, I am almost certain we were in the East Stand. What I find confusing is that I distinctly remember there being no seats as I had to stand on my crash helmet for the entire game. The view was definitely side on, I wasn't in one of the Pens.

I also remember John O'Neil playing (obviously the Jock Wallace days). Somewhere around half time, a streaker ran on the pitch bollock naked. I wouldn't have minded except it was a bloke, not Errica Roe!!

We got stuffed 3-1 I think.

My 2nd game was with my primary school, St. Joseph's. Our P.E teacher, Mr, Cordess, was a Forest Fan. I sat in the Family stand to watch us lose 2-1 to the trees.

I've never had high standards or aspirations since my first 2 games!!!! Welcome to Leicester City son, welcome to Leicester.
