All this hype, on a player we don't know, and haven't seen play...EVER!

You'd all be crying if he is shit or average.

Or if he plays exceptionally well in his first game, everyone will be like Mahrez is class, then he turns out to be a Danny N'Guessan.

I for one will not be bumming him off, as soon as he steps foot into our club.

Well I think hype is down to how good Knockaert is

Mahrez, Mahrez, stormin down the wing,

When he's got the ball he always scores a goal,

This is the problem with unknowns, Knockaert was an unknown people were like this guy has flair, this guy is going to be good, this signing is exciting. You don't know that until you see him play, and give him a bit of time. Luckily Knockaert has turned into a great signing, but now like with Mahrez people are on the hype purely because he's come from Ligue 2 like Knockaert, looks to have some flair about him, and instantly think he is gonna be as good as Knockaert, that might not be the case.

But with players from the Premier League, Championship, League 1, Scotland, you have a good incline on how good they are, and what they are like, because more than likely we've seen them play before. That's why I gave my opinions on De Laet when he signed, by saying he isn't that great defensively, then I had many calling me an idiot for basically writing him off, before he even put on a Leicester shirt. I only went on what I've seen of him, when he played for Norwich & Pompey, and he didn't look good defensively, and to be honest, when he first joined us, defensively he did look shaky.

But on a player like Mahrez there's no point giving opinions because probably none of us have ever seen the guy play before.

I may sound boring, but to say this is an exciting signing and he is going to be good, is a complete joke atm.

No, the joke here is your negativity. The reason it is exciting is because our manager and scouting network have a good reputation for this types of signings, because he is well thought of at his current club, because he fills a gap we have and because he is an unknown.

I don't think there's any more hype than with any other signing. Most people seems to be firmly on the ground about it, but what's wrong with being exited?

Kingfox does have a point about people judging players before they've seen them play.

Of course he expressed it in a pretty stupid way and he's as guilty of judging players before they've even joined the club as anyone else (that Ritchie De Laet is shit you know), but even if he is a massive hypocrite, in this instance, he's right.

You're missing the point KF !! Right now, we can dream .... he might be absolutely blooming brilliant. He's got a foreign name, we know nothing about him .... and he plays in an attacking role !! THE perfect signing !! Dreams ignited !!   Alright, he will probably be very ordinary, but for a few days until someone sees him in a stiffs game, he might just be Messi !!!! Love these signings sooooooo much.

Not being negative, I just like to remain cautious on unknown signings. We've never seen him play, and yes our scouting network is good, and Steve Walsh in particular has been excellent. But still we don't know what Mahrez will be like, and how he'll settle in.

I'll take some of that as a compliment, but to be honest Mark, on De Laet in some aspects I was actually right.

People have nothing to go on here though. And like you say, all you can do is dream, but for people to actually say it's exciting and he is going to be good is silly. It's not saying he might be good, some people think he will instantly be good. I'm on about some comments on here, but people on twitter as well, these 12-16 year olds on the hype piss me off.

Yes we need a winger, and on a scale this is just what we need, but for once, people have nothing to go on here, because nobody knows anything about him.

If we signed a winger, like Bakary Sako being an example, people can give straight forward honest opinions on him, because we've actually seen him play before, on Mahrez nobody can, unless you're stupid enough to think youtube videos are an ideal source.

From reading his twitter page, looks like Riyad Mahrez is on his way to Leicester from French League 2 side Le Havre. His friends and some colleagues appear to be congratulating him on his transfer, lots of activity in last few hours. Probably a done deal?

Cheers for the heads up! We had no idea!

He dribbles with his left foot

when he plays for leicester

he'll dazzle teams all night

Oohhhh......

I love it .. He actually dribbles with his right foot then cuts In on his left... Throwing them off the trail... Clever ;)
