Tielemans63 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 In a round about way maybe it was a good thing that JV got his booking today so he's back for the Derby game rather than be booked against Millwall and miss a game of that stature. That's not to say I'm underestimating Millwall (we've got a shit record there) but we've prob got a better chance of beating them without JV than we have of beating Derby without JV.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Big loss This lad is tearing defences up for arse paper at present. The problem is we have no alternative who is anywhere near as effective. This may sound controversial but Id definately consider Lloyd up top (left) with Schlupp on the left wing (or the other way round). I like pace and its been the backbone of our success this season. Id stick with pace down the left
Fox42 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Tempted to drop Nugent for GTF and Waghorn. After GTF's performance for today I think he deserves a crack and Waghorn knows the opposition better than anyone else so I reckon he'll be a good bet. Good to sit Nugent out for a wake up call, get him on second half and see if he can make an impact.
MC Prussian Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 As much as I would have loved Knight see red, it's a testament to Vardy that he's getting better and becoming quite a nuisance for opposing defenders when they have to resort to thug-like moves like this.
Spiritwalker Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 4 5 1 same back 4 Knocky Drinkwater James King Dyer Nugent I would go with this. Under the circumstances a draw would not be a disaster.

I think the rule changes in the new year to be 10 cards for a suspension anyway, so this wouldn't have been the case.
Wink Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 How many people were saying GTF was shit. Scores one goal and everyone has a hard on for him to start the next game. The guys clearly working his way into full fitness and you can see he has a good touch and good hold up play. However saying that. The work rate of Vardy will be missed and I believe our closest alternative would be Waghorn with Nugent dropping off him. GTF will be a good option to bring on if things aren't going to plan, and his confidence will be higher after getting off the mark.
MGLCFC Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Glad Knight stayed on as we beat them 11 v 11. Vardy will be a loss, but a two week rest will do him the world of good - I wouldn't play him against Stoke either, give his shoulder a chance to recover.
iamafox Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Waggy and Nugent. I think Waggy will score against Millwall and then sign for them permanently the next day :xmaslaugh:
lgfualol Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Cant imagine starting GTF, he'll probably need subbing before half time.
Hitesh Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Hes going to be a big miss - he offers a lot more bite and hassle to defenders than Nugent does. It showed a lot today and I felt that Nugent just lacked that bit of confidence and get up a go. He's done well with his goals and what he offers the team but he got hassled today by their defenders and didnt get much joy. He might not get that much from the Millwall defenders but he needs to show a bit more in my opinion. It would be good to see Waghorn instead of Vardy for a few reasons - he offers a bit more pace that we'd miss through Vardy and I think because he's trained and played with those defenders he'd know where their weaknesses out - obviously this could work the other way round though. Think GTF is good to bring on when we're looking to hold the game, like today.
cc_star Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 So who would your front pairing be? Gonna be a big loss but I think I'd be tempted to start Waghorn with Nugent, he will know these lads fairly well after having been there for a few months. GTF has shown enough in his sub appearances to start, however his style has been most suitable for holding up the ball helping us to hold on to results. Waghorn would be a straight swap for Vardy (or Nugent's) work ethic allowing us to continue our normal game. Will be tough on GTF, but I say Waghorn too
Stadt Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Just sign whatever strikers Millwall have to pÃss them off again.
Harry - LCFC Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Fvcksake Wood. Cheers for being injured. Cvnt!
notnow john Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 So it wasn't a Charles & Nigella charade.
cc_star Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 It'd be interesting to see Nuge pushing on like Vardy's role rather than slotting in behind him in a No. 10 role that's almost 4411 as he has been doing. Moore Morgan Miquel Konchesky RDL James Drinkwater Dyer Knockaert Nugent
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Ill wager this. For all those people shouting for GTF to start (even some, with Waghorn).. you will notice the difference in how we play. And not for the better. I dont think people fully appreciate the impact that both Vardy AND Nugent have to this team..being a striker IS NOT all about scoring goals. Its also about running into channels, keeping the opposition defence on the back foot and bringing others in. A strike pair of Nugent and GTF or Nugent and Waghorn, Id entertain. A front two of GTF and Waghorn?..... not a chance. The pace has gone.
Devonfox1884 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 4-4-1-1 Schmeichel De laet Morgan Moore Koncheskey Knocky Drinky King (i think they'll park the bus) Dyer GTF Nugent
Jace Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Funny how we are top of the league with Nugent, Waghorn and Billy Bright from Football factory available up front, I thought we would walk the league with Nugent, Vassell and Beckford up front couple of years back.
Devonfox1884 Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Vards being out may turn out to be a blessing in disguise in the long run, it will give him a chance to rest and recover from all the little 'niggles' he has had recently, then he'll come back fitter and rested which really could work in our favour. We have enough to beat millwall anyway-and i think we will.
justfoxes Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Should have been a red for that assault on Vardy Ref bottled it and Lino what a twat he saw it all and didn't inform the ref lets hope the fa review this decision and deal with it appropriately !!
