ashfosse Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 fulham are taking the p*ss. meulensteen is clearly desperate. apparently theyve also put in a derisory bid for ravel morrison from west ham.
Greg2607 Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 "Fulham have been told he is not for sale"..................... Doesn't that make most of the above points moot?
Uncle Albert Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Just to send a few more of you into a hysteria his Mrs has just tweeted about London..
hackneyfox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Just to send a few more of you into a hysteria his Mrs has just tweeted about London.. Oooh, what has she said?
Kitchandro Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 £2m is a poor offer but I wish people wouldn't describe it as 'insulting'. It's annoying when managers try to make out they're offended by certain offers for players. It's just business. Poor business maybe, but business.

It certainly wouldn't be good business for your first offer to be the one you believe will be enough to get the player's signature on a contract. Shame most can't see this for what it is.
Haydos Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 How much would it take for us to sell him Babs? Usually (though not always) its attacking players who go for the big money. Those who, with a bit of skill and a good finish, can change the outcome of a game. How much would someone have to pay to get a defender who has not yet played Premiership football? Or would we not sell him at any price? Of course, I'd hate to see Moore go. I see him actually as the club's biggest future asset and one of relatively few in our squad who would make the step up very successfully. But 3?4? Million... at the moment quite a lot of money for an as yet, player who is unproven at the top level. You can't compare. What we paid for Mills was scandalous and would not happen now. I'd say it's more about what he's worth to us. He's recently signed a new contract, he's young, he's talented, has the potential to be a long term cb for us. Apart from security what would we do with £3-4m? Who could we get that would be an improvement on Moore?
sylofox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Put the shoe on the other foot would you want us to go in with an opening offer of say 10mill for a player. Or start at 2mill. They are testing the water and will be back as we would 2mill is not insulting it's an opening offer in a business deal. If we really don't want him to go we should put a value on him and state nothing less 20mill take it or leave it.

Putting the shoe on the other foot, how would our own fans like us to do business? Make your intended final bid you're opening one? See it for what it is... an opening demonstration of interest. If Fulham now dont improve their offer the 2 mill WILL be seen as derisory. The concern I have is that other clubs could easily follow suit and express their interest too. Its gonna be interesting. From grandad....
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Well... tbh until liam moore you could say the same about us... We've produced 1 good player in how long? they have bought in Kasami from Palermo at about 17, One of the best prospects they have... Obviously not his boyhood club.. but certainly started in the youth team/reserve team Fulham do not bring a lot through, but they have shite facilities, for the quality of our facilities we have a poor turnover of quality players.. Depends entirely on what you define as "good" We've produced an absolute boat load of Football League players and a few that have played in the Premier League.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 It's no wonder other fans think we come across as arrogant. "Tinpot" - I hate that word. It seems like a word people use when another club seem to be doing better than us... "Hope they go bust" - I never get this reaction to clubs. I don't like certain clubs but I'd never want them to go bust because I'm a football fan at the end of the day. A football club has no right to play in any division. And Fulham play in the PL because they've deserved it over the years. Thankfully Fulham gave this Country George Cohen. Why do you alway bang on about the 1960's? George Cohen ... The Beatles ... Give it a rest. You're about 20. So we should all bow down because they gave the world George Cohen ? Ohhh that Jonny Haynes was some player ... Yawn.
Dan Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Exactly... what is a player worth? To whom? and for what reason? I agree... to sell Hobbs for 1.5 and sign Mills for 4.5 was bonkers. Utterly bonkers... but.... I didn't see many people on the forum complaining about that at the time (I did... ). Hobbs was sold on the back of 'he's not a footballing defender'... and very few shed a tear. IMO we sold a defender who was, like Moore, going to be the future of our back four.. for peanuts, relatively speaking. But he WAS sold. Again, I think Babs is quite right.. the position we are in means that we can hold out for a very good fee for Moore, if we sell him at all. Hobbs was sold because Sousa/Sven had no idea how to use him. I think people saying he's a no-nonsense defender who lacks technique aren't wrong - but I definitely think we could've made more than £1.5mil from him (and I swear it was less than that too) simply because he's young, English and was a key player in an over-achieving, albeit unfashionable side. Moore will go further than Hobbs IMO and I'd say that the market you're comparing him to (when Hobbs was sold, 2010/11) has become even more ridiculous. I would be disappointed to see us take anything under £5mil for him - especially if Palace can get £15mil from a player I still believe is no better than Knockaert.
Jakemoore Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 "London choo choo *train emoji*"Probably just going shopping, typical bloody woman! It's bad timing though, I think Liam should head butt her when she gets home!
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I don't understand the animosity between people. There are one or two throwaway comments about Fulham having a poor season (in which we beat them) and some people are throwing their toys out of the pram. "I hope they crash and burn in the play-offs". Why? Because somebody said something derogatory but true about your club? Get a grip. I wouldn't swap our position with theirs for a moment but I can't help but feel that some are being over-confident about the excellent position we're in. All things considered I reckon Fulham have just as much chance as us of being in the top flight next season. As for the comments about the respective academies, we've not produced a single player currently playing Premier League football, so people should probably clamber down from their high horses on that one. But £2 million is an absolute joke. £5 million up front and a load of extras and it starts to become feasible. Don't shoot me but I don't think we'd miss him too much if he left, as well as he's done. We need to crawl out of our own Arsehole with that, tbh, they're currently in a safety position looking to strengthen 4 point away from the top half. They have to finish 4th bottom out of 11 to be in the Premier League next year We've got to keep winning games in a tough and unpredictable division, lets not pretend we play like we did on Friday every week. And lets not forget what happened last year when we had pretty much the same team. They've got a better chance of playing top flight football than us next season, for me. Agreed 2 million is nowhere near enough, but I can't help but think most other clubs are aware we aren't in a great place financially.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I always thought Hobbs went for 750k. 1.5 isn't much to sniff at, I do think if we sold him in the summer we would've got more.
Dan Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 If we'd sold Hobbs in June/July 2010 we could've taken £3mil IMO.
Babylon Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Can people stop going on about Hobbs, he went because we changed managers. The new one didn't rate him and sold him off cheaply, the end.
Winnershfox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Well there was no mention of Hobbs before i just posted. At least we all think alike!

VLC86 Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Interesting one this. 2m is a decent sum of money these days. Im delighted we've rejected it and this must show we really rate Moore and that we intend to get promoted! Well thats a bloody relief eh!
davieG Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 If we have ambitions to play in the PL and clubs are sniffing around Moore and others believing they have PL potential I can't really see why we would sell even for £5 because we'd have to find replacements if we got promoted and that would cost us much. Unless of course we're still struggling to meet FFP which we're informed we're not. If we don't get promoted them it's a different story for LCFC and Moore.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Derisory offer from a relegation threatened small London club. Would he even get in to their side with established CBs like Hangeland and Senderos anyway? One mistake and their fans would probably jump on him straighaway.
