Jack Hobbs - Gone to Forest

In a season that is looking so promising, the signing of Hobbs could well be the icing on the cake. Sold for nowhere near enough money, to be replaced by fookin Mills, the utter debacle of previous regimes is finally being consigned to the bowels of City folklore.

Come home Jack. I'd welcome you with open arms.

Personally i don't think we will sign him

Who covered cb last night? They obviously did a decent job...

It's not about who covered last night (it was Wasa) the fact was the only semi defensive player we had on the bench was Schluup. Had one of the centre halves hit a post early on, as happened to Moore on Saturday, we'd have potentially had problems covering it. We need to add in this position, and I'd welcome Hobbs back with open arms.

Well the merc seem to think otherwise

Transfer News: Leicester City join chase to sign Hull defender Jack Hobbs

Jack Hobbs in action for Nottingham Forest during his loan spell from Hull

Jack Hobbs may be set for a return to Leicester City, it is understood.

The transfer development came as City recorded their eighth consecutive league win against Birmingham City last night to maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the Championship, courtesy of goals from Lloyd Dyer and Jamie Vardy.

It was also a record fourth consecutive away win.

It is understood that Leicester have approached Hull City.

Hobbs has been told he can leave Hull and the Tigers have agreed a fee with Wigan, Reading and Nottingham Forest, believed to be just under £1 million, allowing all three clubs to speak to Hobbs.

Forest appear to have dropped out of the race after failing to match the personal terms offered by Wigan and Reading.

Manager Nigel Pearson played down the reports after the game, although he may be looking to bolster his defence after Liam Moore joined the list of injured defenders at the club.

Moore broke a rib in the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough last weekend and City were also without Ignasi Miquel for the trip to Birmingham, while Sean St Ledger is flying to Germany to see a specialist about his groin injury.

Hobbs, who still lives near Loughborough, joined City on loan from Liverpool in 2008 and helped Nigel Pearson’s men to the League One title. City signed him permanently in April, 2009, for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old was allowed to join Hull in 2011 by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Exactly, IN THE CHASE

Doesn't mean we have him or will get him yet

Ppl on here think its a done deal and after the abuse we've been giving forest fans about it we'll look  a right bunch of cretins if we don't sign him

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has played down speculation linking him with a move for Hull City's Jack Hobbs.

Reports today suggested that City had launched a bid for the 25-year-old defender who had already been given permission to speak with Reading and Wigan after failing to agree personal terms with Nottingham Forest.

But Pearson, who managed Hobbs in his first spell at City as well as at Hull, said it is the first he has heard of the rumours.

However, he did admit that he might be looking to strengthen in central defence during the transfer window, especially with Liam Moore and Ignasi Miquel sidelined with injury.

“I’ve been informed that he is (on our radar) tonight, which is quite interesting. I’m not sure where that came from," said Pearson following his side's 2-1 victory at Birmingham.

“He certainly hasn’t been (on our radar) but I think before the window shuts we will have to have a look to see whether Miquel will be fit enough to come back into the squad for the weekend.

“Liam will be out for at least three weeks so it might be a position that we look at.

“But we haven’t openly spoken about any player and I’m not even sure of his (Hobbs') availability.”

Thats just sums it up nicely

I hope this happens. Still think Hobbs is a good player and can possibly get better. I'm sure Nige can get the best out of him again. If we did get him our defence would be immense.

Just seen on SSN that Leicester have put in a bid for Jack Ho.....oh.

I'd rather have Lugia

Defo have Hobbs back did a great job when he was here and I was sad to see him leave, going on what other fans are saying when he played for hull and forest he's been doing really well! Bargin at under a million.

If Terry Robinson is dealing with transfers it might genuinely be the case that Nigel doesn't know about the bid.  I know when the Konchesky to QPR saga was going on at the start of the season, Nigel didn't really know a lot about that!!

I just love the bit when they finally give up:

"Haven't you had enough for today lad.

We don't give a shit.

Sod off to your own forum."  lol

Also reading the start of their 100 page thread and comparing their opinions at the end is such a treat.  :P

Great stuff. Tempted to sign up and rustle a few jimmies.

Terry Robinson won't sign or sell players without Nigel Pearson's involvement. On Hobbs, skysports aren't the best source of information anymore, they deal with a lot of agents who could be blagging to them about their clients, also both Pearson and Bruce seem baffled by this so I don't believe there's anything in it, though time will tell.

Leicester/Michael Keane 1 to watch now Derby loan over. #lcfc tried to re-sign him start of Jan. #dcfc want to extend loan. Other clubs keen

No thanks. Not after the capitulation of last season. Would much prefer Hobbs, No doubt that Keane could become a top player but he needs to toughen up big time.

I agree, Hobbs or Dawson for me.

Neither Hobbs or Keane are as good as Moore and Morgan, and Wasyl is a ready made, experienced, nasty replacement. Barring any further injuries I can't see either of them wanting to leave a first team place in a club doing well in the Championship for a seat on the bench for a different club doing well in the Championship.
