Simonb Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Proper mugged stringer off I think he isn't coming now
Spudulike Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Ian: Anything you can tell us on that? Nigel: Nope. That exchange with Stringer was priceless
Leicesterpool Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Proper mugged stringer off I think he isn't coming now I'm not sure, I actually think Ian caught Nigel off guard on that one. He honestly didn't give much of an answer!
TheUltimateWinner Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 That exchange with Stringer was priceless Almost sounded like he was coming onto nigel! Ian: 'Come on nige, spill the beans ;)' Nigel: 'nope.'
Mark_w Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I'm not sure, I actually think Ian caught Nigel off guard on that one. He honestly didn't give much of an answer! Which is really out of character.
Fox92 Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I'm with my Hull supporting mate now. He said he remembered Pearson saying near enough the same thing about Chester... The next day he signed.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Nige would have given a definite no if it wasn't a possibility. The fact that he toyed with Stringer says to me that he's keen
dpjfox Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 did NP mention Hobbs post match or indeed did Stringer ask him?
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 did NP mention Hobbs post match or indeed did Stringer ask him? Stringer asked.... and got shot down pretty bluntly.
Spudulike Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I don't get all this 'we don't need him' stuff. At the end of the season Miquel will go back to the Arse and Wasyl will be out of contract. This might be the best (only?) chance to get Hobbs. We'll need one more centre-back in the summer as well.
whitlock Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I don't see why NP would tell Stringer anything anyways, why should he. Keep it all in house until it's all sorted - if that's the case.

Alan Young actually raised a fair point about Hobbs being in a premier league squad before but not getting games. Thinking ahead and speculating on us being in the prem, is it worth signing him if he's not up to that standard? Obviously a good player in the Championship though, would definitely be handy for the rest of this season!

Thinking ahead and speculating on us being in the prem, is it worth signing him if he's not up to that standard? Alan Young did not raise a fair point, because Hobbs not being given a chance by Liverpool as a kid and by Hull in the last six months or so is in no way proof that he isn't good enough to play in the Premier League. I'm fairly sure that Alan Young's view is clouded because he never got to see Hobbs playing under Pearson (I believe), he saw the worst of Jack Hobbs.
GingerrrFox Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Nigel has never told Ian Stringer anything about transfers. Just look at Riyad Mahrez, at first he received a straight no.

Agree on the Liverpool side of it but what makes you think he's not been given a chance this season? Same manager who used him to get into the premier league is now not picking him and sees no future for him with Hull trying to establish a premier league team?
Mark_w Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Why has he not been given a chance this season? Same manager who used him to get into the premier league is now not picking him and sees no future for him with Hull trying to establish a premier league team? Maybe it has something to do with giving his clearly inferior son games in the Premier League.

Mark Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 David Burns â€@bbcburnsy 16m Steve Bruce says up to Jack Hobbs where he moves, bids accepted from Forest, Reading and Wigan. Nowt from Leicester so far. #hcafc #nffc
Vindaloo FOX Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 bet Hull are trying to get more money off us , if so they can do one . Yes we do need another CB at the moment but lets not let Bruce and Hull take the piss .

KFS Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I like Nigel's integrity regarding transfers, he doesn't like his players being speculated upon so doesn't do it to others. Regarding Hobbs, I think that when the others come back from injury he'd find himself frustrated being on the bench. 800k is the price being speculated, and if Iggy is back for Saturday I honestly think we should leave the squad alone now. That being said, I trust Pearson. He may send Miquel back if it gets problematic.

dmayne7 Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Maybe it has something to do with giving his clearly inferior son games in the Premier League. I actually think Hobbs is much better than Alex Bruce but I know Steve Bruce (just about!) and I remember him telling me that he thought Alex was good enough at Birmingham but that there was no way he could keep him at the club because people said exactly what you've said. That's why I'm surprised he's still playing for Hull in the PL. I suspect he'll be on the way out in the summer.
