Proper mugged stringer off lol

I think he isn't coming now

I'm not sure, I actually think Ian caught Nigel off guard on that one. He honestly didn't give much of an answer!

Which is really out of character. :pearson:

I'm with my Hull supporting mate now. He said he remembered Pearson saying near enough the same thing about Chester... The next day he signed.

I don't get all this 'we don't need him' stuff. At the end of the season Miquel will go back to the Arse and Wasyl will be out of contract. This might be the best (only?) chance to get Hobbs. We'll need one more centre-back in the summer as well.

Alan Young actually raised a fair point about Hobbs being in a premier league squad before but not getting games. Thinking ahead and speculating on us being in the prem, is it worth signing him if he's not up to that standard? Obviously a good player in the Championship though, would definitely be handy for the rest of this season!

Alan Young did not raise a fair point, because Hobbs not being given a chance by Liverpool as a kid and by Hull in the last six months or so is in no way proof that he isn't good enough to play in the Premier League. I'm fairly sure that Alan Young's view is clouded because he never got to see Hobbs playing under Pearson (I believe), he saw the worst of Jack Hobbs.

Agree on the Liverpool side of it but what makes you think he's not been given a chance this season? Same manager who used him to get into the premier league is now not picking him and sees no future for him with Hull trying to establish a premier league team?

Maybe it has something to do with giving his clearly inferior son games in the Premier League.

I like Nigel's integrity regarding transfers, he doesn't like his players being speculated upon so doesn't do it to others.

Regarding Hobbs, I think that when the others come back from injury he'd find himself frustrated being on the bench. 800k is the price being speculated, and if Iggy is back for Saturday I honestly think we should leave the squad alone now.

That being said, I trust Pearson. He may send Miquel back if it gets problematic.

I actually think Hobbs is much better than Alex Bruce but I know Steve Bruce (just about!) and I remember him telling me that he thought Alex was good enough at Birmingham but that there was no way he could keep him at the club because people said exactly what you've said. That's why I'm surprised he's still playing for Hull in the PL. I suspect he'll be on the way out in the summer.
