Webbo Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 He's an ex professional footballer with UEFA coaching badges. It amazes me how people who work in an office or a shop think they know better than him. You might not agree with him but it doesn't mean he's wrong.

It amazes me how people who work in an office or a shop think they know better than him. You might not agree with him but it doesn't mean he's wrong. Not sure if aimed at me or not? Anyway, a recent example sticks in my head. A caller was asking about Championship players that we might look at to make the step up to the Premiership. Young's response? 'Jonas Olsson from West Brom.'
HighPeakFox Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Scapegoating isn't big and it isn't clever. I don't listen to RL so it's something new to me, but given that LCFC lost one match after the prediction was made (and it was obvious now why they lost) Youngy almost got it spot on, fluke or otherwise. To continue slagging him off is just pathetic - it seems some people need a target the entire time
Dickov22 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I'm not sure about 'knowing his football', he can't even get the names of our players right half the time. On the odd occasion I'm unfortunate to have to listen to games on RL, I find his thoughts on football to be very outdated. The game has moved on a hell of a lot since his day. I have nothing against him personally, but I think RL could get a much better 'expert' summariser. I think his knowledge of the game and other teams in the division in particular is very limited. Nothing against him personally, he's been handed a dream job by RL and is obviously making the most of it. Everytime I've listened to him, his opinions of Leicester players and our performances I've completely agreed with. He may pronounce names wrong but his knowledge of Leicester at present is spot on.
Unabomber Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 What odds did he get on us to go unbeaten? Someone said evens but that was a poor troll.

Pretty surprised at that, because he's very critical of Knockaert a lot of the time (and overly critical, in my opinion) who I know you like.

Someone said evens but that was a poor troll. 100/1 Pretty surprised at that, because he's very critical of Knockaert a lot of the time (and overly critical, in my opinion) who I know you like. Yeah I had that argument with him. I agree Knockaert holds onto the ball too long, but Youngy is harsh on him. He really rates him though.
Bert Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 The thing with Young is that's he's very much set in his ways. I don't think he's fully realised how much the game has evolved since his playing days. Have only listened to post match comments and found myself disagreeing with most of it. But that's football. Heard he's not very well liked at the club. Strolled into the selebrity match at the KP last year like he was royalty apparently along with his son (who he tries getting in everywhere for free) and when questioned he said "you know who I am" not realising that it was a charity event. Did the same at the town hall on Monday too, lauding it up like he'd lead us to the title.

When I was on the phone in he left a piece of paper which he had been making his notes on, signed it and said "you can have it" I was like

Unabomber Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 When I was on he told me that I was too young to remember Filbert Street. He's nuts.
Matt Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 What a twat. I thought he was a twat anyway from his comments but thought i'd give him a chance but the way people have described him personality just back up my initial thoughts.
DB11 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I hate his "insights" when listening to RL. His mentality is akin to something an old bloke watching Sunday league pub team would say.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 He skint for sure. I've met him a few times at games, radio Leicester studios, and also bumped into him in West Bridgford. Always in a track suit because he has no clothes. Don't get the nasty attitudes towards him. He's a nice chap who knows his football. It'd have been great for him to win. Everyone ridiculed him with his prediction, but he came pretty close! I never have got the vitriol toward Young. Babs was right though IMO. It was a throwaway comment, made when he was excited, that somehow nearly came off. And £200 is a lot to put on such a long shot.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Blimey there are some bitter people on here and no mistake. He is just an ex player who obviously loves this club as much as we do and that comes through on R.L coverage. He has played at the highest level albeit a long time ago and has passion for the game and club which comes over very well on the radio in my opinion. Yes he makes mistakes but better that than a smart ars* who knows everything but has no feeling for the job or the club. I for one hope he is still with radio Leicester next season and long may that continue.
Buce Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 I like Youngie. And his bet would have come in but for the Brighton debacle.

I just dont understand the snidey remarks and for so called men, the bitchey statements that some fans lower and degrade themselves to. Makes you think what weirdos walk our streets. Too much Coronation street and Eastender dialogue.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Not been able to take him seriously since his patronising, insulting tone towards the caller following the Millwall 3-0 which saw Sven sacked and how insistent he was that 'Mr Eriksson would not be sacked' He's not really a fan, I could be an MK Dons fan if the local radio picked me up off the street and paid me to watch a bit of football

David Lowe Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 There was always one problem with his bet. If we remained unbeaten for such a long period we were always going to be promoted well before the end of the season. Just like Sunderland lost to Swansea yesterday there is always likely to be a 'let up' after the aim has been achieved.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Still no excuse for going on the p*ss and being thoroughly unprofessional against Brighton. Just think if we had been professional Brighton may not have even got into the playoffs and Reading would have made a better fist of it against Derby. Youngy could not have predicted players letting everyone down on that night , he was basing his not being beaten prediction on the team being physically up for every game not turning up with a hang over.
john ridley Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 I'll never knock youngy for what he did under Jock Wallace , they were a great couple of years , among my best ever following city .
hackneyfox Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 He's not really a fan When he was at Notts County he applied for the job of Leicester Manager, said he'd walk over broken glass for the role.
Wycombe Fox Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 I'll never knock youngy for what he did under Jock Wallace , they were a great couple of years , among my best ever following city . Same. Him and Melrose.
