Youngy - "We won't lose between now and the end of the season"

We've got an horrendous run between the Yeovil and Bolton games:

Burnley (A)

Wigan (A)

Sheff Wed (H)

Brighton (H)

Reading (A)

QPR (H)

No way we're getting through those undefeated.

Avoid defeat for another 11 games and we beat that remarkable record we set in League One of 23 games unbeaten.

Not saying I think it will happen, just that we are over halfway there.

Posted

The odds are against us remaining unbeaten but there's no one in this division we should be afraid of.

Youngy made a comment and it's created a bit of a discussion, why anyone should be offended by it is beyond me.

Thought it was ridiculous when get said it....now it doesn't look so stupid...i think we will only like if the players get too cocky or over confident...probably lose to Charlton now!!!!!

Tempting fate, of course, but we are only three wins away from breaking our all-time record for number of wins in a season (27 in the League 2 season). And we have 11 games in which to get them...

Now 100 days since we last lost a League match - Alan Young football genius?

The run we are on is unbelievable and I think Youngy said this after the Birmingham win.

But to be fair the teams we have played since he made the statement are teams we expect to pick up points from. The only one that could've been a banana skin was Forest away.

The first real test comes at Burnley away, then Wigan away. If we are still unbeaten after those two fixtures then maybe Youngy isn't as daft as I first thought.

With the key point being that we've actually picked up those points. Previous years the expectation was there but we didn't deliver. This time around, the job is getting done. Look at teams around us and who they dropped points against. The difference between us and those teams is that we beat teams that they couldn't. Sounds obvious but crux of the matter is that we are getting the job done. We've known for years that this division can be seriously unpredictable.

Well if he wins his bet, I'll hold my hand up and say fair play but it doesn't mean he's a football genius. More of a gambling genius, at which point I'll be repeat that I'm gutted I didn't put the bet on!!

We have a horrid run after the Yeovil game, and I still think Saturday at Blackburn will be tough. Even Nige said post Blackpool that he doubts we'll go all the season unbeaten, though he did say we could do, we could not either. Agree with him. Wigan and Burnley especially, will be tough tests.

That is hard to argue with to be fair.

Its all going to work, everybody will be praising him, he will be sitting there smoking a cigar, smuggly looking around........

............then last minute in injury time against Doncaster.

I have no worries about the next three away games, we will only lose if we make individual mistakes a la Donny away. Blackburn, Burnley and Wigan are not as good as us, the table doesn't lie. I much prefer to play the top teams anyway, it normally brings out the best in us.

Personally think Burnley will be the easiest game as they will have to outgrind us. Burnley don't have as much flair and style as us and have been lucky to get points out of Bournemouth, Blackburn and Leeds; all these teams had one on one chances to win, or get winning leads, all messed up. Having said this would be happy with three draws as every point crucial to get to the magic figure of 90.

Pearson clearly knows this league inside out and will set the team up as required - I have complete faith in the man, particularly with the firepower he can bring on if needed in the last 20 minutes.

No need for the negative thought waves Moriarty, this is our year. Youngy has seen all the teams and knows we have the edge on them all - lets hope his forecast turns out 100% accurate, although not too worried if we do have one or two slip-ups.

These type of seasons don't come round often, just enjoy it!

Children of konfuzies would use this as a good example, showing pessimism and optimism.

Me I like egg on my face, I will stay an optimist, until a big 'L' is shown against in our results column.

Why not?

It's entirely possible based on our performances this season. In fact we're getting better each game and no matter what position we're in in a match I feel we can win it. Was never worried on Saturday. Granted, that was against a side with 1 win in 19 league games. However, there's nothing to fear in those teams. We are where we are on merit and I am confident we can avoid loss in every game. We may not play well every single one of those games but we have the character, spirit and never say die attitude that means even if we are down in these games we can claw back a draw or win. This team doesn't know when it's beaten!

Edit: In fact let's show you something

Burnley (H)

QPR (A)

Reading (H)

Bolton (H)

Millwall (A)

Derby (H)

Leeds (A)

Middlesbrough (H)

Birmingham (A)

Bournemouth (A)

Watford (H)

Forest (A)

Ipswich (H)

Charlton (H)

Barnsley (A)

Blackpool (H)

Surely we had to lose one of those games??

The fact that we won 13 and only drew 3 of those games is, quite frankly, staggering!!

Looking at them games i would of said

QPR (A)

Leeds (A)

Forest (A)

that anyone of them games we could easily get turned over

Lets not forget that we can afford the odd slip up in the remaining fixtures but Leicester shouldnt fear anyone in this league and no reason why we cant go unbeaten. I reckon we will beat Burnley to kill off any title ambitions they will have especially with Ings injured to supposedly the end of the month. So either he misses the game or plays a part where he wont be 100% match fit.

Lets not sit here thinking which game we might lose lets just go into every game knowing that any sort of points return will be great and a step closer to the promised land

Ill love it if Alan Young called this right, so many always quick to say he talks so much shite

But he is guilty of doing this. I don't mind Young at all but he's definitely been guilty of talking out of his arse of a number of occasions.

His comments about 'full back is the easiest position in football' screamed 1970's to me.

Nobody is going to beat us fair and square until next season. If we lose again this season it will be because they parked the bus and got lucky, or the ref was a shit twat, or they cheated.

Could see Burnley parking the bus and getting lucky, the ref being a shit twat at Wigan, and QPR cheating.

Wigan beat Man city and Burnley have only  lost 3 so hardly easy

I've just giggled to myself at that. We've taken 42 points from those 16 games. That is simply incredible.
