Manwell Pablo Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 There's a fair few tough games to come yet against sides who need the points more than us..... If we do lose a game the fact that he's got this wrong will be a massive silver lining. He's one lucky fuker for it still to be on at this stage after tonight, Yeovil, and coming back when down to ten men at Forest. Unquestionably will be more luck than judgement.
Spiritwalker Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I'm too lazy to read through the whole topic to see, but am I right in thinking when Youngy said this he actually had a bet on it? If so does anyone know how much and what odds? I don't think he wants to divulge how much he put on but he claims to have got better than 100-1
Littletoe Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Quite a few apologies to be made, if this falls in place. The abuse aimed at Alan Young at the start of this thread is disgusting...
StanSP Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Quite a few apologies to be made, if this falls in place. The abuse aimed at Alan Young at the start of this thread is disgusting... Some of the posts on the first page . Think many will be eating humble pie!
ceredigion Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 He once scored a hat-trick against us for Oldham in the FA Cup, but that was forgiven a long time ago and Jock Wallace signed him to ensure it wouldn't happen again. A bit of a David Speedie figure for fans who remember the late 70s and early 80s era.
tomlester93 Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I think it's idiotic. You still think that pal? #inalanwetrust
Rincewind Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Why is everyone having a go at him? At least he comes across as a fan. Would you like one of the presenters off Five Live to cover our matches? Would they cheer a goal like Young or shout at the players to buck their ideas up? OK we have had a couple of close shaves regarding results, maybe Young took that into consideration thinking our luck will hold out an plus the fact the spirit and fighting determination of the players and their self belief. Perhaps being an ex-player he recognises the signs. don't forget he was part of jock Wallaces squad and saw through the MON era. He may even be in contact with the players so knows their mood. Back in January I would have thought it doubtful but maybe he thought the odds were worth a few quid. I am sure he can afford a fiver. I wonder if he will donate any of the winnings to his favourite charity? Will he be hated then?
veezeeblue Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 He's a moron and to be honest fans who accept his statement are just as bad as him. Yes confidence is high, that does not mean we are going to remain unbeaten this is football and this is the Championship where if you have a bad game, the "poor" teams will punish you especially away from home. These statements either puts pressure on the players to remain unbeaten or makes the complacent. We are doing very good this season, there is still a long way to go. Us, more than any team in the league should know this. Let's take one game at a time. Hey, if we do remain unbeaten I'll hold my hands up at the end of the season and apologise (like with Vardy); but these statements are just silly. I thought the commentary last Saturday was the worst I've ever heard, from Stringer and Young .. "WE'VE WON THE LEAGUE. UNBEATEN CHAMPIONS HERE WE COME" this is my favorite .... get those hands ready bud !
veezeeblue Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I can tolerate Stringer but this absolute clown is the reason I don't listen to the match commentary on the radio.. I refuse to! Im Alan Young and you will agree with my opinions because yours do not matter! Complete Tw@ may change my mind ?
veezeeblue Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Stringer and Young should be tied to a cart and pulled by a donkey through the centre of Leicester so they can be publicly flogged with eggs and flour. Their in-game commentary gets worse week by week and it's comments like "we won't lose for the rest of the season" which make us look like arrogant d*ck heads, not to mention the potential curse it puts on us (for the more superstitious-minded). BBC, get rid. or maybe it´s this one

MattGamble92 Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I still think at the time 200/1 was piss poor odds. Fairplay to him if he wins but i'd have wanted more like 1000/1 to put any sort of money on it
Guest kristianity77 Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I still think at the time 200/1 was piss poor odds. Fairplay to him if he wins but i'd have wanted more like 1000/1 to put any sort of money on it It was piss poor odds and still is piss poor odds. Back when he said it we have gone through now what 12 games unbeaten. If you had started out with a sum of money and backed City not to lose each time and rolled the winnings over on to the next game, you'd be sitting on a very tidy sum already. If we were to go unbeaten for another 7 games and you had done the bet this way for all 19 odd games, you'd be sitting on a small fortune. Lets say that each game averaged out at say a 2/5 shot that we wouldn't lose (which in itself, I believe is probably shorter odds than you'd of gotten on average), that still equates to well over 800/1 over a period of 19 games if we were to do it.
Raj Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Again, like last time, an absolute bizarre time to come out and act like this prediction has anymore weight than it did three weeks ago, I'd expect us to avoid defeat against Blackpool and Charlton at home. we're top, Their relegation threatened. And I know Barnsley did us at Oakwell last season but we're 1st and their 24th for a reason. Blackburn will be a stern test and Yeovil should be straight forward. After which we have the games where at some point Youngy will come unstuck, When he made the prediction the games against Forest Burnley Wigan and Reading away is where most of us expected us to lose and we still have 3 out of those four games to play. There's a fair few tough games to come yet against sides who need the points more than us..... If we do lose a game the fact that he's got this wrong will be a massive silver lining. He's one lucky fuker for it still to be on at this stage after tonight, Yeovil, and coming back when down to ten men at Forest. Unquestionably will be more luck than judgement. You can't keep fighting it Manny...Give up..... !!!
MC Prussian Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Quite a few apologies to be made, if this falls in place. The abuse aimed at Alan Young at the start of this thread is disgusting... I admit, I was in a rather belittling mood when Alan Young made that statement. It sounded so ridiculous - who could've known we'd be on a phenomenal 20-game unbeaten run later on this season? Hopefully, he's placed some good money on that bet and will cash in nicely in May. Still, seven games to go to prove him wrong.
Webbo Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 You just know on the last day of the season when Nige plays the youth team and we lose 0_1 to an unjust last minute penalty after dominating the game, this thread will be full of people coming on here saying " I told you Youngy was a cvnt".

David Lowe Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Stringer : 'We need to get a better reserve goalkeeper in for next season Youngy. Logan has just gifted Doncaster that last minute winner.' Young : Silence.
65RosesFox Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Dont know what Youngy had on it,but i had £5 at 100/1 If I give you 100 can we split it half and half? I don't think you have thought this through mate. £100 to get £250. Is odds of 6/4. That is shocking odds to go unbeaten for another 7 games!
The Doctor Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 If all our games finished at 80 minutes we would have lost 6 of the last 20 games. Wow. EDIT: Wait, it's only 5 games. Whoops ANOTHER EDIT: No, it's only 4. I can't count. 4 late goals have prevented defeats, 2 late goals have secured wins. Quite a turnaround from our last prem season where most games were lost in the last ten - seem to remember the stats being a European qualification if matches were 80 minutes long

Of course his prediction involved a slice of luck. All unbeaten runs involve a slice of luck unless you're absolutely dominating a league like, say, Bayern are this season.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 You can't keep fighting it Manny...Give up..... !!! To give the muppet his due's, even if it doesn't come off he's got a lot closer than I thought he would.

There's a slice of luck Alex than there's your keeper bulleting a header in the final minute (I know it was eventually given to Wood but no Kasper no goal)
