BrummieFOX Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 His goal tonight was too much. He's unplayable at the moment.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 What was the assist like for his goal? From Monsieur Mahrez I believe?
Dickov22 Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 The funniest thing of all re Vardy are those who were claiming he's the same player this season that he was last season. Is he bollox! He's much better. City have taken a raw talent and honed him into a far superior one. It will be interesting to see if he can become even better. It's not a suggestion he was like this season, of course he wasn't. He's improved dramatically. What annoys me is how far people go in their criticisms- it's either fickleness or a clear lack of knowledge/intelligence. Only this season there's been comments on this forum suggesting De Laet 'isn't very good' Konchesky 'Cannot pass the ball and is crap' 'we are winning despite of Nugent, not because of him' Just because a player has one poor game, or in Vardy's case last season, a few, does not make them a bad player. It's impossible to play to your best every game. Fans are too harsh, too impatient and a lot of the time make sweeping statements that aren't true It's annoying What was the assist like for his goal? From Monsieur Mahrez I believe? He did really well for the goal. Held onto the ball, waited for the perfect moment then played the ball in. Same with Nugent, who did superbly for Dyer's goal
LCCFox96 Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 On match day his never say die attitude, work rate and pace makes him unplayable. It is also the answer to the numerous penalties we have won this year. Been fantastic for us this year.an amazing turnaround and you can see how much he has developed. 3 goals in the last 4 games now as well. Hopefully he can pull that up to around 15 by the end of the season. But he has also missed a huge number of chances. But as that hasn't cost us yet it's becomes a good thing - he has room to improve and can perform consistently at a higher level and score more than he has been even on this vastly improved season.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 8 wins in a row is absolutely fantastic and all that, but please don't let it overshadow the fact, that Jamie Vardy tonight has just reached double figures. What an absolute turnaround from last season, when he only managed five goals, and we didn't think he was cut out for Championship football. All his goals this season, have come in the league also. The lad deserves endless praise tonight, what a player he has turned into Well said buddy I second that
Bert Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Hard work and determination goes a long way in football. Well done Jamie Vardy. What a transformation!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Couple of lost causes he chased into either corner (especially the one where he kept it in against the odds right in the corner, then took the defender on heading towards our goal and ended up nearly halfway inside their half! Hard to describe but just laughably good) must have scared the hell out of them. I actually thought that Packwood guy did ok considering the mismatch in pace. I'd have Packedupandgonehome.

Babylon Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 The last 8 the guy has gone up another level for me, some of his touches and control have been fantastic.
Buce Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 We could have 2 strikers hitting the 20 goal mark this season Dyer has 9 now; could have three..
Bayfox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I never slated him, but just wondered about his touch and his finishing at this level last season. But whatever he did during the summer worked his touch looks so much better and he looks like he believes he will score now instead of worrying about it. I will be the 1st to say this year he has been right up there with the best performers. But what has impressed me is the partnership and link up play between him and nugent. PS I've heard he is having a party.......... Bournemouth seafront saturday night.
Bert Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 The last 8 the guy has gone up another level for me, some of his touches and control have been fantastic. That was my only bug bear of his from this season but even that's come on massively.
Ric Flair Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 It's when you see a player improve so much when they've stepped up several levels that you get genuinely excited for how good they can become. We've seen rags to riches stories with various footballers over the years and Rickie Lambert has been a recent example. There is no reason why Vardy can't excel in the Premier League and dare I say international stage should this rapid improvement continue at the same explosive pace. You usually can't teach a first touch, but the difference between the cement feet he seemed to have last season and now the deft touch of an artist is astronomical. If he can learn a natural quality like that in a season then I can see him being prolific over the next few seasons. MONSTER
Corky Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 He started last season really well but couldn't sustain it for longer. He has sustained it and is continuing to improve. All credit to him.
dmayne7 Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Congratulations on a) missing what was actually said b) misquoting c) just being you. I actually think Col is spot on. There was a thread a few months ago and loads of people were trying to say that he's not got that much better but just been given a chance yet there is an interview with Vardy himself and he says how he changed his approach, that he wasn't good enough last season and that he has improved massively. Straight from the Horse's Mouth (Not our own one though )
ozleicester Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 meh!........... League goals dont count do they? Love the boy
broughtonblue Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Anyone know what the celebration was about, lying down and grabbing the corner flag?
AKCJ Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Anyone know what the celebration was about, lying down and grabbing the corner flag? Inside joke between him and Nugent. Apparently they practice that in the hotel the night before away games.
tonyb Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 So pleased Jamie has finally made his mark at Leicester, he was a joy to watch at Fleetwood, one of those players you never forget. Hope you make it to the prem and Jamie continues his form.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Thanks tonyb, and genuinely hope you surpass Blackpool as you're on the way up... you've got a better shopping centre than them too (Freeport). No seriously, good luck for rest of the season
Walker Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 He reminds of a dog in a park the way he chases the ball sometimes. I love him

The exciting thing is that he probably will get better. He seems to improve every time I watch him.
Captain... Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 One thing that people didn't seem to consider is the level of coaching is a massive step up, so of course he is going to improve as he is being coached by much better an experienced people than he had at Fleetwood, but last season you could see the raw ability, his workrate and pace haven't changed, but his awareness and technique have. Hopefully he can improve even further as the training and facilities availble at City should help him reach his full potential. We don't know how quickly he would have reached this level had he played all of last season, but injury and illness and pressure conspired to set him back in his development.
