RedSoxUK Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Are you kidding though? Honestly if Vardy is a bad as you say he is, I'd still take him over Ulloa. At least Vardy tries to win the ball, and does this thing called running. Priceless! Again... You're the Brighton version of Col City. If we want to argue this, then why on earth are we planning to pay 7+ mill on a player unproven in a league above him, when we can spend 1mill on Vardy as a gamble - and if we are saying Vardy is a better player (which is uncomparable anyway) then the price tag on Ulloa seems even more unreasonable to us as buyers. Let's be honets, Brighton need Ulloa to stay afloat right now.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 From my point of view I wasn't actually saying Vardy is better... simply laughing at how the Brighton clown had come to the other conclusion!
AKCJ Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Can't believe you find that funny concidering you want him. I've seen him play every game whereas you haven't.
Guest Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Wouldn't be surprised to see us push this through eventually. Not sure what other options we realistically have. Wickham doesn't sound realistic to me and I'd be concerned that he'd done nothing for years until the last half dozen games of last season and suddenly everyone wants him. Charlie Austin - not sure why QPR would let him go but perhaps they would. Hasn't he got a serious shoulder condition?
Babylon Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 If we want to argue this, then why on earth are we planning to pay 7+ mill on a player unproven in a league above him, when we can spend 1mill on Vardy as a gamble - and if we are saying Vardy is a better player (which is uncomparable anyway) then the price tag on Ulloa seems even more unreasonable to us as buyers. Let's be honets, Brighton need Ulloa to stay afloat right now. The point is not that he is or isn't better, it's that this chap is a ****ing hypocrite. He's allowed to say Ulloa is good and Vardy isn't, but we aren't allowed to say the opposite. Ulloa may very well prove to be better, but none of us (including Brighton ***) can say one way or the other as we don't see enough of the two of them. Oh and you seem to be comparing Vardy's old price tag to the one he'd fetch now. If you believe John Percy, Southampson showed an interest in him... he's not going to have cost them £1m is he?
gibbin82 Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 The longer this goes on the more it appears to me that Brighton actually really do want to sell Uloa, but understandably they want to get as much as possible for him and you can't fault them for that. As we all know LCFC and Nigerl Pearson prefer to do their transfer business descretely without it being leaked to the press, but this time it has been played in the full glare of the media for all to see. And as the reports always are first reported in the Sussex Agus before anywhere else it is seems quite clear that these are coming from someone at Brighton. Also as the club have not issued a hands of at any price, or Uloa come out and said he doesn't want to go anywhere, it more than likely that it is a done deal other than the transfer fee. As for what he's worth well as a squad player for a team who already have players with similar qualities it wouldn't be very much at all, but as he has been identified by Leicester as a player that will bring something to the club they are missing and possibly need to survive in the Premier league, it would make his worth to LCFC a lot more than just his comparative market transfer value.

morris1234 Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Comparing players by fans of opposing teams...we are going to be here a while people!
Guest LCFC_World Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Still over 40 days until the transfer window is over, don't worry.....YET.
dayday Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Still over 40 days until the transfer window is over, don't worry.....YET. Cheers Nigel!
sylofox Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Still dont thing he is worth anywhere near 6mil. But if NP goes in with 7m I'll go with it. Looks like he really wants him. Really hope it don't go wrong and No I will not say told you so.
Perseus Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Leonardo Ulloa wants a chance of Premiership football whilst his career is at his peak, aged 28. So it is just a question of when (now or next January) or next season? Albion won't stand in his way but may prevaricate a bit. And to which club? From a footballing point of view he should fit in at Leicester more than any club I can think of. I expect a rational transfer fee could be arranged in the £5m to £6m mark. Not more. No other club has shown a published interest. I think Brighton might want to line up a replacement and have been unable to do so.

Perseus - produce the Gorgon's head and freeze the evil machinations of the sea-dwelling Kraken that masquerades as a seaside town...rescue Princess Ulloa and win her for Greece/Leicester

Carlos88LCFC Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 And the longer it goes on, if we do get him, it is less time for them to find a suitable replacement as well. They are heavily linked with Jesse lingaard according to SSN I really think for 7.5 million we could get someone better but maybe Nigel sees something I don't. Unproven in the premiership, has what we need as a player but making us look like tits with all these rejected bids. I think we will get him and I hope he proves to be as good as the price tag indicates just really hope he's not Ade Akinbadbuy... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 "unproven in the premiership" is one of the most idiotic expressions repeated in this thread. Especially considering our squad!
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 "unproven in the premiership" is one of the most idiotic expressions repeated in this thread. Especially considering our squad! I'm guilty of saying it about him but my point is that with the lack of experience we have in our squad; a striker with Prem experience would be a better option.I think maybe it's just worrying about a repeat of the Akinbiyi thing. He scored goals for fun at championship level but the step up was obviously too much for him, particularly with the price tag pressure.
ARM1968 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Just as long as he doesn't end up being a Trojan horse.
jdmoore Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 The only worry I have apart from the fee is the fact that the Brighton fan said as they only have on average one or two shots a game, he spends most of the time standing around with his arms crossed.
muzzy1981 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 The longest deal since time began. So bored of this now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
artursteppe Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Unproven at Premiership level. Absolutely, if I were the manager of a Prem club, I would never pick anyone who hadn't already played in the Prem You can't do that, how can you even give one of your bright new young players who have come through the academy a senior debut match when they have never played at that level before. Look at Vardy, we should never have given him the opportunity to play for us when he had never even played above non league. What a waste of a million pounds, and we should never give our young academy players a chance either because they have never played at that level! Other players we shouldn't pick are Wes, Schlupp,Knocky, Drinky, Matty, Mahrez, Liam, King, or Was! Just think how good we'd be then.
mozartfox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I was bored with this two weeks ago. So much for getting our business done early, but this is the consequence of the Premier League pile of cash.
Hack Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Are you kidding though? Honestly if Vardy is a bad as you say he is, I'd still take him over Ulloa. At least Vardy tries to win the ball, and does this thing called running. He didn't say Vardy is a bad player. In his judgement Ulloa is a better player. We don't have to agree. They are quite different types of forward. Both have great strengths and probably would be a great pairing up front because of what both bring to the table and why I am sure Nige is going so hard for Ulloa to play with Vardy. So it is not a matter of either or but both.
