So do you reckon if he had the right passes and support, e.g. Drinkwater/Vardy, he could get a few goals in the Prem?

Absolutely , I'm hoping that is an aspect Sami is looking at sorting out - but IF,IF we were to lose him he'd slot right in

Tonight it seems he picked up a minor injury in training hence he didn't play rather then the early reports that Hyypia was looking at what the rest of the team can do - believe what you like mind :D

Player's head turned- picks up mystery injury shocker.

Already the idea of him being compared to Beckford has my forehead breaking out in beads of sweat.

As good as my word:

The finance side isn't as worrying as people are making out - we're choosing to be careful to get in line with the FFP side but have money to rebuild it seems , no necessary need to sell

All down to the value of trying to replace him I guess - given beyond the fee how much time and money we spent trying to get him and build him up if that's what the club reckons then fair enough.

Exactly , and it did take a while for him to come back to being the player he is capable of ( for a few games he looked worried about going into challenges)

This has been debated as to whether he IS actually unhappy here , a lot has been made that he looked uninterested at Lewes last Saturday but after the game was chatting and joking , obviously every player wants to play at the top level - it goes without saying , but whether it's more then that is pure speculation at the moment.

That makes him sound really bad , there are points where you question if he wants it enough but that could be said of a huge number of strikers - he's not helped at times by some shocking passing mind!

I was actually referring to the fact that you haven't improved your squad this summer, in fact you have weakened it losing your POTS from last year, so selling may be the only way you can actually add 3-4 decent players to the squad.

there are varied opinions from brighton fans. you would have struggled to find a lcfc fan prepared to back beckfords attitude full stop. there are no comparisons imo. i cannot understand why people arent comfortable to trust the management of the club on this. show me how many bad buys pearson has made over the past two seasons ? when did he last waste money on a player? we would get our money back on wood if we sold him. NP is paid a lot of money to make decisions. he has a thorough support staff on vetting/selecting potential signings which includes their character. this isnt a 'late in the window knee jerk decision' (like beckford was). why not back our manager to continue to make the right calls?

totally agree with this. Near enough every player Pearson has signed is worth more than what we paid for them! Pearson always talks about bringing in players with sell on value which is vital. Pearson knew the mess the club was in after Sven, having a load of players that were costing a fortune in wages and cost a fortune in transfer fees and were not worth a penny. I have full faith in Nige to bring in the right players, I'm just concerned that we are getting priced out of key targets by over inflated wages and transfer fees!

The problem with this deal is that we really arent in a position to play poker. PL clubs have the money. Simples. Whats the point in pretending that you cant pay x when you clearly can. So then it comes down to valuations. We have made an error on this deal by going in too low to begin with and then coming back three times with offers that are incrementally too low. It makes us look like we dont know what we are doing and although the last offer was referred to in the press as our final offer, i rather hope we didnt state that. it may be a good thing that campbell has fallen through as it shows brighton we are prepared to let a deal go over money. If i was ulloa, i would wonder how much we really want him and how much ambition we really have. Wenger spent years missing out on targets by trying to pay what he felt were reasonable fees. On the flip side he paid comparatively big fees for young unproven players. He is only now getting his man by paying inflated amounts.

im sure many of us who spend our lives negotiating have looked at what seems to have gone on with this deal and wondered wtf is going on. if i was his agent, i would be ringing around all the PL clubs and if he doesnt get nicked by someone else then perhaps our 'selection procedures' are indeed amiss on this one. the only caveat on that being behind the scenes, he has committed to joining us because he wants to and is happy to wait for the two parties to come to a deal, however long that takes.

My problem, if you can call it that, is the fee, but he cost Brighton nearly £3m and they know it's first choice target of a club with money to burn is knocking.

And they don't need the money any more than we did

He's not really going to cost less than ridiculous, so if we want him we have to pay it

The cost of going into the season without players NP has identified as being required is far higher

I think people forget Nigel tried to sign this lad before he went to Brighton. He's been a long admirer and sometimes managers are willing to pay what appears to be big money for not an obvious player. I can see why Leicester fans are nervous, I certainly am. We've not had a player we've paid more than £1-2 million for that's actually been a success for us in over a decade.

Mills, Beckford and Waghorn were all appalling. We seem to not be a happy hunting ground when we splash out on someone, it dates back even further. Under Taylor his big money buys failed, O'Neill it was his bargains that succeeded and the likes of Gunnlaugsson and Eadie who we paid decent money had minimal impact.

Let's hope we can finally break that hoodoo, because we probably have to spend some wedge to survive at this level.

good analysis although the money spent by MON on Frank Sinclair and Matt Elliott was significant at the time, buying Ben Thatcher would also have been shrewd and a big money deal although he pulled the plug on that .

I suppose it's different now, the premier league has changed so much since we last graced it, you're looking at £7 million being peanuts for most clubs. If we were to land Ulloa for £7 mill and he scored between 15-20 goals the pundits would consider it one of the signings of the season. This pragmatic approach is the way forward, provided Nigel and his staff can do so diligently.

There will come a time when we will start having to spend serious money, but it comes with patience, and knowing what you need to improve...and I know for a fact we have the management team in place who will do just that.

I think his performances in the play-offs had clouded my opinion of him somewhat.

Having just watched the YouTube video of his goals from this season I think he's exactly what we need. Hopefully this isn't dead in the water yet.

I aint bothered wot we spend on him if we bid again then Pearson thinks hes the right man and is worth it cause I'm sure Pearson is no idiot and wouldn't spend a lot if he didn't think he was worth it thats good enough for me (I also think is style will suit the prem)

Player's head turned- picks up mystery injury shocker.

I heard he pulled it while aggressively pleasuring himself at the thought of having Danny Drinkwater proving 20 assists for him in the prem. This is unconfirmed though.

Correct. It's Leicester's track record alone that puts me off marquee signings. It's like penalties for England. It's not necessarily a bad thing but I'm always uneasy with it.

Pearson's never really made a marquee signing though. Knockaert arguably. Other than that no-one springs to mind. I trust that he knows Ulloa will be good enough.

You say that Pearson wanted him before - did he? For us or Hull? I don't remember that.
