Thracian Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Ulloa wouldn't be a marquee signing however the situation pans out. Someone like Drogba might be considered a marquee signing - not that i expect any such thing to happen nor do I necessarily think it would be a good move anyway.
Jace Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 I don't understand. Please translate into in English! No one knows if he will be worth the price tag but I don't know why people are so bothered? If we over pay are owners have the money and now we are in the Premier League we have a lot more money, it's like spending a couple of million in the Championship anyone we buy no one will know if they are really worth till they have played for at least 6 months for us.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Well the striker situation needs to hurry up and get resolved. He needs time to settle in the City, Gel with the squad, adapt to our style etc. Would hate it to come down to deadline day for one of our main strikers... Most of the time it ends bad! Would love this one to come off though, I'll be honest... Last season I didn't pay much attention to him but after seeing him on youtube he looks pretty decent! (Bearing in mind, they only put the good bits on YouTube) But he looks a lot different to what we have and would add something that we will probably need in the Premiership. Ulloa the Argy with Vardy will they miss? Hardly! Leicester City going Barmy We've started the survival Party!
Banks Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Surely we need a central midfielder as well, what happens if James or Drinky get injured? Don't exactly want Hammond or King starting to be perfectly honest...
Callabinho Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Surely we need a central midfielder as well, what happens if James or Drinky get injured? Don't exactly want Hammond or King starting to be perfectly honest... I'm sure we will attempt to sign Cleverly.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 I'm sure we will attempt to sign Cleverly. I saw Arsenal linked with him somewhere today... Think it was on Twitter, Prob BS!
foxfanazer Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Apparently Ballotelli is available for £14m so Ulloa for £10m seems reasonable
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Apparently Ballotelli is available for £14m so Ulloa for £10m seems reasonable PLEASE say you're joking?
Number 6 Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Always unfair to compare price tags. Loads of factors other than ability come into it. Not just asset related. The situation of both clubs, the player's contract and happiness at club etc all come into play.
lc4lcfc Posted 15 July 2014 Posted 15 July 2014 Apparently Ballotelli is available for £14m so Ulloa for £10m seems reasonable Leicester will offer £4mil and a whole box of walkers.
RedSoxUK Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Might as well close this thread if Brighton are not going to budge.. We topped the Championship by signing players on the cheap and on the free, we can build on that by doing the same this time, as Pearson has been doing already! Albrighton is a 'big' signing to Pearson on a free, Upson is a 'big' signing to Pearson on a free.. We don't actually need to spend big as our squad has a proven gel which works with Pearson's model - sure, would have been nice to get anywhere near Pelle, or even Campbell, but we're not going to have a player like Campbell on our books as a maybe-starting player with a wage higher than the rest of the team - and we won't sign Ulloa for anymore than our final offer, because the price goes against all Pearson has been working towards for the last two years. Brighton will end up underperforming and shipping Ulloa to Cardiff for half the price in January, and we'll sign a player that fits Pearson's needs, for a price which is suitable, and a wage which puts the player amongst friends.. Or we won't -- don't be quick to forget about Nicky Maynard (or Jelavic even.) We won't overspend on players that can't offer us more than what we put in, final. tl;dr: Ulloa isn't for us.
mozartfox Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Totally agree RedSox UK. A lot of sense in your post. I do sincerely hope we do move on now and find a younger 'bargain'. Brighton can keep him.
davieG Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 ....... or Albion are coming under increasing pressure from Leicester City to sell Leo Ulloa. The Premier League newcomers are poised to step up their pursuit of the Seagulls’ Argentinian hitman, The Argus understands. Leicester have already made four bids for Ulloa. The latest of just over £6 million was turned down by Albion last week. The Foxes are not prepared to meet the reported £10 million asking price. But they are expected to further test Albion’s resolve with at least one more bid. Ulloa is currently in Spain on Albion’s pre-season tour. He sat out Saturday’s 4-0 win against Partick Thistle, the club attributing his absence to a minor ankle injury. It is unclear whether Ulloa will be involved in tomorrow night’s match against Real Betis. He is settled in Brighton with his family and enjoys playing for the club but he wants Premier League football and fears the scale of investment in the squad is reducing his chances of getting there with Albion. http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/11342420._/
MikeyT Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 What do we think, one more bid of around £7.5m to £8m?
teblin Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Obviously the man that nige and his team want. Hope that get him sooner rather than later.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 I'd rather slap an 8mill down on Connor Wickham, see what happens. Publish it, I bet Ulloa will hand in a transfer request straight the way!
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 I'd rather slap an 8mill down on Connor Wickham, see what happens. Publish it, I bet Ulloa will hand in a transfer request straight the way! I'd hope that it'd be too late then from Ulloa and we'd be parading Wickham on the OS
dannythefox Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 This deal is not off yet leicester are away and so are Brighton ulloa isn't going to upset the Apple kart while there away is he. If he wants to leave that much he'll put a transfer request in when they get back.
Robin JD Popley Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Said last week £7-7.5m would be my top bid. Think he is worth that but still adamant he isn't yet worth £10m. Hopefully this gets resolved in the next few days, if accepted, too - don't need this needlessly dragging on much longer.
Ric Flair Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 It's getting to the point where I don't really care what the bid is. He has been one of Nigel's top targets all summer so we just have to accept that Pearson rates him highly and hope he knows what he's doing. It doesn't really matter if he paid £15 million for him in the grand scheme of things as we have a hell of a lot of money from sky in the next few seasons so it won't cripple us. It's just the hysteria that will come from knowing what the price is. We've not had an Argentinian since we had Fernando Pasquinelli on our books under O'Neill, it's an omen. Let's just hope he actually makes an appearance for us if we sign him.
Brighton Posted 16 July 2014 Posted 16 July 2014 Apparently Ballotelli is available for £14m so Ulloa for £10m seems reasonable To right. Best post so far. Ballotelli maybe only valued at £14m but take his wages into concideration then the transfer would be including wages about £30m, He's on about £180,000k a week.
