LanguedocFox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 OK, it is a bit premature, and I don't want any of us to sound arrogant/up ourselves. But... Assuming Norwich go down, who should we beat out of the 18 teams we know we will be playing next season? Not a poll, just a thought process: 40 points for survival will be the immediate target, so where will they come from? Arsenal Aston Villa Burnley Chelsea Crystal Palace Everton Hull Liverpool Man City Man Utd Newcastle Southampton Stoke Sunderland Swansea Tottenham West Ham West Brom
theessexfox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Arsenal Aston Villa Burnley Chelsea Crystal Palace Everton Hull Liverpool Man City Man Utd Newcastle Southampton Stoke Sunderland Swansea Tottenham West Ham West Brom Twice each
Mark_w Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 There's no reason we can't aim to finish above and potentially beat Aston Villa, Burnley, Hull, Newcastle, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, West Ham & West Brom. Palace should be strong under Pulis and I can't see us finishing above them, the rest should all be too strong for us. But there's no reason we can't aim to out perform those teams and achieve a top 10 finish.
StanSP Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Sneaky feeling we'll do the double over one of the bigger teams.
Fox42 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Looking at the teams now... Arsenal - 0pts Aston Villa - 3pts Burnley - 6pts Chelsea - 0pts Crystal Palace - 3pts Everton - 1pt Hull - 4pts Liverpool - 0pts Man City - 1pt Man Utd - 1pt Newcastle - 3pts Southampton - 2pts Stoke - 4pts Sunderland - 3pts Swansea - 2pts Tottenham - 1pt West Ham - 4pts West Brom - 6pts 43pts.
iancognito Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Lets have none of this, beat the teams around you, the rest are a bonus nonsense either. There's points to be won in every game, the Prem's becoming more and more like the championship with a lot of wannabes and neverwillbe's who can finish 10th or 17th in the space of two results. Any 9 wins, any 9 draws and just get ourselves safe as early as possible

Chelsea beat all the title contenders and messed up at home to bottom half teams.
foxile5 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 I'd settle for beating Andy Gray. The blokes a dinosaur and needs a good thrashing.
Corky Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Lets have none of this, beat the teams around you, the rest are a bonus nonsense either. Any 9 wins, any 9 draws and just get ourselves safe as early as possible Absolutely, we should have no fear and believe we can get points from any game. I think the attitude of taking some games as more important than others is a dangerous one if you don't make the most of those more important matches. We're playing these sides on merit, we aren't some lower league team on a nice day out in the cup.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 We will beat teams we really shouldn't (Liverpool, Man City, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, etc) and we will lose to teams we should beat (Villa, Sunderland, Hull, etc). That's the beauty of football!
Agent Fox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Said it before, we can do a Southampton! If I was offered survival now I'd take it but I really do think, with one or two additions we can finish 14th-10th
Finnaldo Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 No-one. We should take it game by game. There won't be a team we 'should' beat. If we play to the best of our ability, we could sneak it against Man City or Liverpool. If we're shite, we'll probably get beaten by Burnley. Expecting to beat teams can just end in disappointment. I'm going to take it game by game and enjoy our first season in the Premier League for 10 years
Guest kristianity77 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 I dont care who we lose to or who we beat. As long as at the end of the season we have won about 9/10 matches out of the 38 with a few draws thrown in then we should be ok. What I'd hope for though, is a reasonable run of early fixtures. You dont want Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City all in the first month so to speak as it might make a big dent to confidence!
Bryn Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Should be aiming for winning half of our home games and drawing half of our away games and that will keep us up.
lgfualol Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 "Easiest ten games coming up" No sir, I aint doing this again.
David Lowe Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 We will beat teams we really shouldn't (Liverpool, Man City, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, etc) and we will lose to teams we should beat (Villa, Sunderland, Hull, etc). That's the beauty of football! I can't see why we should be beating those teams...but they are teams we could beat on a good day.
benpicko Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Sneaky feeling we'll do the double over one of the bigger teams. I hear Man United are practically handing out points nowadays
ScouseFox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 tbh unless norwich do something against arsenal then 33 points and a gd that's not monumentally shit would've kept us up this season. easy.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Who should we beat? Hopefully for the first season enough teams to keep us up. So that means beating the teams around us, for example West brom, palace, hull, Swansea, west ham will all be vital games that we need to pick up points from. Also, I would like to pull one over Man United, but that's just because I dislike them.
