Which Political Party Do You Side With?

I just don't vote, I knew I'd get all this "your vote is wasted". A lot of young people don't vote, I don't think people are that interested. I get the "but your vote could change what happens" but, for example, the area I'm from is your typical northern mining town and an automatic seat for labour.

It's proportional representation in the Euro elections so your vote will count.

Spoil your ballot paper then. I despise politics and the majority of politicians so it will take something pretty special for me to actually choose a particular individual however that doesn't mean I shouldn't get off my arse, down to a polling station and make my protest clear.

What he said. Otherwise, in my opinion, you don't really have any right to moan about the way the country's run. It takes 5 minutes out of your day to do it.

I do it by post now but looking at the Euro ballot paper there is not much choice apart from knowing who not to vote for.

Jon Ashworth is my MP so a safe Labour seat.

You know what, my brother said exactly the same thing to me earlier today lol

Conservative.

Have little interest in politics and I don't like people forcing ther opinion on me, which is pretty much why my interest in politics is small.

I will always vote because then I've got a right to moan about things but it's not something that's going to make a big deal in my life, at the minute anyway.

So there exists a party that aligns with your views fairly closely but instead you're going to refuse the opportunity to support them and allow others a better chance of getting in?

I'd also point out that part of the reason politicians don't seem to care about you is because young people don't vote. Governments are less inclined to act in our interests because we make ourselves an unimportant electoral group by not voting. I'm sure you have your reasons but I think you're letting yourself down personally.

Mate he'd vote UKIP, don't encourage him.

85% Lib Dem

I will vote definitely, but it'll just be a wasted vote anyway because my constituency is a safe seat for labour, so it's not like my vote will have any effect under the voting system we use.

Had a go at the US Version for the hell of it.

Green - 93%

Democrats - 86%

Socialists - 72%

If you're talking about the Euro elections, they're counted regionally under a list-based proportional representation system, so there's every chance that your vote will count.

If you're in Worksop, you'll be in the East Midlands Euro constituency. Last time (2009), the East Midlands elected 2 Tory MEPs, 1 Labour, 1 UKIP & 1 Lib Dem: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/elections/euro/09/html/ukregion_31.stm

Looking at the polls, I'd say UKIP will definitely get 2 MEPs this time,  and the Tories and Labour at least 1 each. The Lib Dems will probably lose their 1 MEP and the Greens probably won't gain one. So, the 5th MEP will depend on who finishes 2nd in the East Midlands, probably the Tories but possibly Labour.

East Midlands prediction: UKIP 2, Tories 2 (or 1), Labour 1 (or 2)

Ah! In that case, your first comment is almost certainly true, as it is for most people in the country. Shame we have an electoral system that means that every election is decided by "those crucial swing voters" (people who don't know what they believe) in those "marginal constituencies" (suburbs and medium-sized towns, in the main)....distorts the whole of politics by making the main parties focus their policies/message on those people and constituencies.

Would be much better if there was some point in Labour winning over some rural voters, the Tories winning over some inner city voters etc. I'll save my full pro-electoral reform rant for some other occasion....

It's interesting how little I have in common with the current government. I just wish there was a genuinely electable opposition.
