Gareth Barry

Keeping us in the premiership is worth obscene amounts  so  lots of the contracts talks including NP's would involve this, More importantly if a player buys into NP's vision that is more the issue. Cardiff claimed to have wasted close to £10 million on Cornelius so a 2 year deal on 100k a week based on maintaining premier league staus for a proven quality player doesn't seem unrealistic, whether he chooses to come here remains to be seen.

In fairness it's not a given that he'll rejoin Everton. They've probably realised they need even more quality to make it into the top 4, and perhaps don't fancy keeping Gareth Barry on. We can hope that he's spoken to Pearson and is genuinely excited by our project. He has been sensational for Everton this season. Would be an amazing coup.

If we can't take him I'd take Sidwell, probably cost less in wages but a brilliant bit of transfer work if we could get Barry.

That Cornelius figure is quite misleading.

Paying £100k a week for a player like Barry would be utterly obscene for a club of our size. There is no way he'd be worth that.

Bring him don't care about the wages, we can afford it if we want to, imo his quality and experience would hugely benefit the likes of Drinkwater and James he is a top class professional on and off the pitch.

If there is the slightest chance we could nab him lets do so, come on NP.

But what is worth?

If we paid him £100k a week for a year, that's £5.2 million, would you be happy if we signed someone for £4m and paid him £30k a week?

If NP wants him we can afford him, whether we should or not, I'll leave to NP, breaking the wage structure can be got around by paying him a massive signing on fee, but putting him on the same wage as everyone else.

How is it misleading that is what Cardiff are claiming? the money for playing for the premiership is obscene proper telephone numbers is it not something like a minimum £60 million, 25 man squad each on 40k a week is 52 million, and plenty of our squad wont be on anywhere near that, i am not saying we will get Barry or we will pay 100k a week to a player but the reality is there is huge amounts of money involved.

No way we are getting him if the reported wage ceiling is correct, and even then half the teams in the league that are more established than us will be after him and are used to paying those types of wages. Only thing in our favour is location.

I think people need to stop relating to that.

Not even sure where it came about from.

Leicester offer Gareth Barry bumper contract to gazump Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal

LEICESTER have shocked Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal by offering former Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry an opportunity to move to the King Power stadium.

The newly promoted side have high aspirations in the transfer market, and are reported to have made the first move to secure Gareth Barry's signature.

The Foxes will know that a head-to-head battle with the Premier League's European-bound teams is likely to see them miss out on their target.

Ambitious Nigel Pearson may fancy his chances having already landed Marc Albrighton, Matthew Upson and Jack Barmby.

Barry's five-year contract with City has now expired and the 33-year-old is a free agent.

It appeared that Everton would retain the services of their midfield warrior, however Roberto Martinez has yet to make a move.

Having earned £80,000-a-week with Manchester City, reports have claim that Barry will look to match those wages elsewhere.

Everton are said to have prepared a £50,000-a-week deal for the former England international, a figure that would easily smash Leicester's current wage structure.

Former Toffees loanee Barry was instrumental in helping the Toffees achieve their highest ever Premier League points tally.

He was also key in achieving the Merseysiders first bow into European footballsince 2009/2010, having been knocked-out in the last 32 by Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

The wage claims is a strange one, just paper talk ask yourselves, would we pay a striker a 250k a goal bonus or a keeper 250k for a clean sheet

I've never honestly rated him, didn't really amaze me at Villa (Saying that I probably looked at his time there through tinted glasses as I don't like Villa), why Man City were ever interested in him I don't know, I didn't agree with him being in the England fold, at Everton he's done ok I guess.

All that said to come to a club like Leicester he would be a good player for a club like us but I stand by my original statement basically saying he has been overrated in his career.
