Will the big players turn up? Is Ronaldo fully fit? Gutted I'm going to be missing the first half. Damn annual appraisal! I'm gonna go for 3-2 to Germany.
Ric Flair Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 I should just be able to get back home in time for this, ordinarily i'd expect Germany to dispose of a team like Portugal has got except for one man who can win games on his own. He makes them one of the favourites in the World Cup as he's that good. I hope Muller and Gotze are on form as well, should be an enthralling attacking game.

Unless Germany don't show up I reckon about 3 1. Agreed. Germany, you'd think, would have the nous and cleverness to nullify a player like Ronaldo. He can win games on his own, but agaisnt certain opponents, yes. Germany I don't think are one of those opponents. I don't know what it is about Portugal's squad that makes me think they won't get that far in the tournament. Other than Ronaldo, they have a few big names but perhaps there's too much over-reliance on him. Or maybe I'm underestimating them?!

I think Portugal could come up with a slight upset here and win it 3-2. Germany are expected to field four (!) central defenders this evening - Mertesacker, Hummels, Boateng and Höwedes - which means they're fully aware of the threat that is Cristiano Ronaldo with his long shots and free-kicks.

Why not swap the shit arabs vs africans game to 5pm and have the proper game at 8pm? I don't think it's too much to ask for the schedule to be built around british working life. We did invent the game afterall.
