England v Uruguay

I guess a lot of the current wailing is coming from the moronic "Expectation is low this year... so there's less pressure and therefore we've got a great chance!" crew.

Expectation was low for a reason.

Can't remember if it was jaggy or cahill running back for suarez's 2nd goal, but why did he stop closing him down? Just needed to keep going and he would have got a block in.

Fair play to Glen he's fvcking shit but at least he gives it a right good go and always wants the ball unlike Baines who seems to go missing.

Bit gutted tbh, we were the better side but Suarez is just too good as much of a little cvnt he is he's fvcking amazing.

We're still gonna qualify and win the whole thing.

Where was the pace? Where was the attack from midfield? Passing it around at the back before a hopeful pass forward which on occasion did come off but then, until Barkley came on there was little running into the box and hardly any runs at the defence.

Johnson had a good start but then faded badly again.

Jagielks went missing at crucial moments.

Henderson... who the fook is he?

Cahill possibly the best England player tonight. At least he seeemed committed

Hart. Not exactly useless but I have no faith in him. Poor positioning for bot the corners Suarez nearly scored from.

Rooney... "Englands best player"? Really? If that's the case then it just shows how bad the rest of them are.

Gerrard "captain fantastic"? You're having a laugh.

The country consistently exaggerates how good some of our players are.

It's actually laughable as we've won NOTHING since 1966.

Rooney,,Gerrard etc are simply not bad footballers. That really is it, on a global stage.

And Rooney being paid 300k per week is just wrong. I think it's the biggest joke in world football.

That first Suarez goal was very similar to Forestieri's at Leicester - really well timed run in behind and a sharp header.

Is Steven Gerrard immune from criticism from our media? Welbeck was steady tonight but that'll get glossed over as well Gerrard's 'mare.

hope not, if I had to chose between Terry and Gerrard as Capt. Terry would win every time.

It's the media that bully them up, international level there pretty average.

Any english player who has a good debut for his country is straight away classed as a world class player.

Agree with that. Watching England in recent years has become very predictable... expect failure and you won't be disappointed..... At 1-1 for a few minutes, they were shot..looked leggy and nervous. England though simply gave them the opportunity to re-assert themselves. What pissed me off tonight is that Uruguay, generally are clearly a poor team.but we couldn't match them over 90mins...We are now rooted as 'second or third seeds' in any four team group......absolutely miles from being a World power!

Eh?

Gerrard is a spent force and i think he probabl knows that better than anyone. He'll write his own criticism in the form of his resignation from international football in five days time. He's been a decent servant for England so it would be a bit indignified to be too scathing when the reality is we should have long since produced a good replacement.

So...question now is....is a B Team League really going to improve that?

In a word, no.

Of course it won't, throwing kids in against League 2 players won't help their development.

Im just waiting for some brilliant insight from Uncle Albert/Grandad or whatever his name is who clearly had ideas above his station about this England team and wouldnt listen to any voices of reason.

If he comes on here and starts peddling his obvious liverpool bias again then I think he should be banned from the forum. To a man his boys were dogshit tonight.
