Bert Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 He'll be 30 at the Euros and 32 at the next world cup. He's done in an England shirt, you have players like Barkley/Oxlade-Chamberlain/Sterling/Sturridge/Welbeck and a whole host of promising youngsters not in this squad, it's time to move on.Fair enough. Don't agree but that's football. Think he's gonna be our next captain.
indierich06 Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 The worst thing about it all is having to insure all of the players and staff spouting bullshit like 'We won't change our attacking play' and 'we won't hold back'. Talk is cheap you shit bastards, what excuses will you come up with now? It's so frustrating to watch us churn out the same drab performances tournament after tournament. It's enough to turn people away from international football. Urg I'm so disappointed yet again. Why are we always disappointed? "We played well against Italy" yeah we still lost though - we are simply not good enough any more. Apart from 66 on home turf and 1990, when have we ever been good enough? We're not a footballing superpower, simple as that. And for the people slating Uruguay - they've won more ****ing World Cups than we have.
Samilktray Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I must have missed something tonight cus I thought Rooney was pretty crap again tonight.
Tom17LCFC Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Rooney's got an assist and a goal, more than the rest have managed...
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 It's time now to completely dismiss the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, even Rooney. They have had their chance and have shown over and over and over that they are nothing more than average footballers, at international level. Both the FA, the next England manager and the nation need to grow a pair and accept that we must build and develop the best young side we can. A side capable of playing together for years. And we must accept that we aren't going to win anything, therefore, until it has had the time to develop. We need a good young manager to flourish with his good young squad. New ideas, new ways of playing. Rules on Prem sides having to play home-grown players. Ladies and gents, the last time we crashed out the group stage was in 1958! We literally are at rock bottom as a footballing nation. Unless something really radical is done, I swear we'll be in the same situation in another ten years time, and another...
The Horse's Mouth Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Rooney was the one who was constantly a threat, I literally have no idea what else he has to do to win the approval of some people.
BlueSi13 Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Like the last 50 years ,England dont have any better.. True but England is a much larger country with a much larger economy than Uruguay, it has the worlds richest and most watched football league and invented the game of football....we are slaves to our high expectations I'm afraid, we know we should be better and are angry and confused why we aren't.
Donut Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I must have missed something tonight cus I thought Rooney was pretty crap again tonight. Nah, lets be fair he wasnt crap, he was a constant attacking threat, drew a fabulous save from Muslera, couldnt quite grow enough for the header, finished off a well worked move, and was streets ahead of his performance against Italy. He was one of our better players tonight for sure, albeit how much of that is with a pinch of salt considering the circumstances is up to you.
lee7 Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 For the next game Roy needs to make changes! Drop Gerrard & get wilshere in, Baine's for shaw and jagielka for jones. Sick of seeing inept performances from talented players! We are as good as out and personally I don't want to hear the manager or the players excuses. The players said before the tournament that they had prepared as well as they possibly could have for this World Cup & there would be no excuses if they didn't perform. We got what we deserved in the end! If we don't convert chances and defend like a pub team then we will never progress or improve. So annoyed with the results. Wait so long for a World Cup then we're virtually going home before its really started.
Happy Fox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 No surprises that England wouldn't qualify same old story hyping the over inflated shit need to play more youngsters that is the solution. Get rid of all the old guard.
Donut Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 No surprises that England wouldn't qualify same old story hyping the over inflated shit need to play more youngsters that is the solution. Get rid of all the old guard. We wildly overhype the youngsters too.
Happy Fox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Even Iran have f**king more points than England, that is how shit they have become.
Happy Fox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 We wildly overhype the youngsters too. True, but they need to be given the chance, the likes of Rooney and co have had numerous chances and failed to deliver.
Bert Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Even Iran have f**king more points than England, that is how shit they have become.Yeah but we have more goals than them
Jimothy Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Even Iran have f**king more points than England, that is how shit they have become. Iran have played Nigeria ffs, a team with Shola Ameobi on the bench! Give England a break!
Tielemans63 Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I know we're all excited City have made it there but the Premier League has killed the national team. Teams made up entirely of foreigners. Young English players being stockpiled then not used by clubs. Teams spending money on cheap imports rather than developing players. Clubs choosing big name foreign coaches over English coaches. Players whose ridiculous wages give them a vastly inflated sense of their own worth - it's no wonder we're ****ed. They all pay lip service to their passion for England but look at the singing of the anthems - only Joe Hart was belting it out with a tear in his eye. I don't care what they say, for most, club comes first. The FA are slowly acting, albeit over 20 years to late but they've let the Premier League piss all over them all that time and that doesn't look like changing.
foxfanazer Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Even Iran have f**king more points than England, that is how shit they have become. That's no comparison at all
fuchsntf Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 The English players prove again, we just cant play at this level, yes we have some potential WC players, but PL class players year in year out, cant translate it at International level. FFS, dont blame Hodgson, English players just cant think when they go over the whitewash, players are just not as good as what some supporters desperatly believe they are. Gerrard twice caused the goals, defencivly from not just the back 5 , but from middfield we were very poor. Lost the ball in all games while going forward. Plus we are slow in thought and movement, and next pass awareness. Sturridge bottles it, when in shooting positions or last pass scenarios. Rooney cant beat his man like before.Welbeck too tricky for his own good. Sterling still young to tell his mates a n d himself when its time to hug the byeline, or dip inside.
Happy Fox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Yeah but we have more goals than them Iran have played Nigeria ffs, a team with Shola Ameobi on the bench! Give England a break! As I am Half Iranian this is as good as it gets on the International scene, let me revel in this moment please.
Jimothy Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 As I am Half Iranian this is as good as it gets on the International scene, let me revel in this moment please. No! You can suffer with the rest of us!
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 somebody who isn't tactically inept. I LOVE your avatar
Uncle Monty Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 I was also thinking that. Why do we never seem to overperform? Even when we weren't expected to do well we have still managed to disappoint a nation. As for Roy, despite him being supposedly in it for the long-haul, if Costa Rica turn us over (which if they play like they did when they gave Uruguay a beating, they will) will he still be in the job come August? Will the damage and humiliation to brand England be strong enough to jerk the FA into action once more? I agree, it would be nice if for once we did over perform. But the way the press and commentators keep going on is driving me crazy. I can understand they need to be optimistic but it is driving me crazy it's like everyone is watching a different team to me. Before the Italy game people were telling me we would beat them, I asked them if they watched the friendlies before? The reply was that that is just a friendly, I call bullshit. All of the signs were there.Alas, like everyone else, deep down I still hoped, only to be crushed once again.
cambridgefox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Rooney was the one who was constantly a threat, I literally have no idea what else he has to do to win the approval of some people.Score from 1 foot and not hit the bar.
Happy Fox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 No! You can suffer with the rest of us! Nooooo , Seriously though England needs a revamp, For the Euros you would be hoping to see this side probably a load of bollocks but here you go.. Hart Trippier Moore Dier Shaw Barkley Wishere Henderson Sterling Sturridge Oxlade-Chamberlain.
