England v Uruguay

Came away feeling okayish after the Italy game but I'm really fed up with this. They weren't better than us, we just threw it away by doing poorly in both boxes. Ref was awful as well of course, didn't like his decisions on fouls and Godin had to go too. Just as pissed off with us not taking chances though.

Think people are exaggerating about how bad we were. It was mistakes at crucial times that lost us the match rather than an overall performance that deserved defeat.

I can assure you there will be no-one saying that. Literally no-one.

lol

You can make literally NO assurances Harry.

Give it time..

If Italy don't surrender, Uruguay"s plane crashes in the Andes and they start eating each other and Costa Rica invade the USA- we're through

Steve Gerrard always seems to get away with murder because he's 'popular'.

I think he's been wank for the two games personally. Really poor.

Spot on. Easily the worst player against Italy and Uruguay. Time for him to retire from international football.

I don't think we're good - I think being competitive in this group is an achievement.

I had few expectations of this team before the tournament and think we've done fine.

I just think we've been unlucky. You make your own luck over a 38 game season or 72 holes of golf. You don't make it over 2 games at a World Cup; we've been spectacularly unlucky in several incidents over the last couple of games.

Of course you do. It's not like all the teams don't know it's a tournament!!

Go in, give it everything and you'll do well.

Go in and not give a f*** then other teams will run all over you.

No, we've not been unlucky, we've been shite.

Play teams at their own games. Give as good as you get. We are pussies.

I'd find plenty of people who'd think a body check isn't a yellow card. Have a bit of heart and be a man.

lol at that last bit! Condescending hyperbole.

Rare voice of reason as ever.

I don't think any other player in the world other than Suarez would anticipate a chance coming for that second. Always on the last line waiting. Whereas Sturridge is barely in the penalty area

Though it may not be popular, for me the reality is we somehow needed to rectify the issue with John Terry.

As far as I can see, defensively we've been really poor at this tournament. We needed a leader at the back and a player who naturally knew Cahill's game.

This should have been sorted. And before any smart-ass shouts 'with the benefit of hindsight', I've thought this for a long time.

I don't think we'd have conceded that last goal tonight with a more sorted and organised back four.

Terry racially abused folk though.

Where was the pace? Where was the attack from midfield? Passing it around at the back before a hopeful pass forward which on occasion did come off but then, until Barkley came on there was little running into the box and hardly any runs at the defence.

Johnson had a good start but then faded badly again.

Jagielks went missing at crucial moments.

Henderson... who the fook is he?

Cahill possibly the best England player tonight. At least he seeemed committed

Hart. Not exactly useless but I have no faith in him. Poor positioning for bot the corners Suarez nearly scored from.

Rooney... "Englands best player"? Really? If that's the case then it just shows how bad the rest of them are.

Gerrard "captain fantastic"? You're having a laugh.
