jimmer Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Staying on: Nigel Pearson Comments (0)Manager Nigel Pearson is finalising the details on his new Leicester City contract. Pearson and his assistants Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh look set to put pen to paper soon on their new contracts. They are believed to be three-year deals and the process is understood to be in its final stages. The fact that pre-season begins in less than two weeks and Pearson and his staff have not signed new deals since leading City back to the Premier League may have concerned some supporters, but the contracts have never been in doubt. Both chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and vice-chairman Aiyawatt stated at the end of the last campaign that Pearson would be offered a new contract. They said they intended to reward Pearson, Shakespeare and Walsh, while the City manager himself said he was not worried about the fact he was soon to be out of contract. The fact that City were able to bring in three new players – Ben Hamer, Marc Albrighton and Matthew Upson – so early in the close season was an indication Pearson was planning for the club's first season back in the Premier League for a decade, and he is not finished with those three. City have been in negotiations with representatives for Cardiff striker Fraizer Campbell for the past couple of weeks and reports suggest he is due to meet Pearson this week and complete his £800,000 transfer. City have also tried at least three times to prise Leonardo Ulloa from Brighton. However, City's interest in the Argentinian appears to have cooled after the Seagulls slapped a £10million price tag on their centre-forward. City are hoping to sign at least one striker, with the future of top scorer David Nugent still in doubt. Nugent is soon to become a free agent and, while talks between his representatives and City are described as 'ongoing', the fact they still have not come to an agreement is causing concern. There have been reports Nugent is considering offers from other clubs. There is more positive news over captain Wes Morgan, who is believed to be close to agreeing a contract extension. The defender is set to enter the last year of his contract after City activated a one-year option, but talks have proved positive over another year on top of that. sylofox Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Gonna be expensive when we need the change - December? Fvck off seenfvckall. Forgot you even existed as it's been so long since you could make a point. Shame last season had to ever end if only to keep you and your bile away from here. Here's to another glory season to keep you and your ilk out of here. And if Nige manages that he should get the key to the city and be given powers on here to ban fvck whits like you forever.
Thracian Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Delighted. Pearson has evolved into a capable manager and I'd doubt if anyone could have squeezed more points from our players than he did to secure promotion. What impresses me most is that he seems capable, not only of winning matches more consistently than any manager in our history but doing so by assembling players at the right price so they are financial as well as simply footballing assets - something vital to an emerging club but not easy in today's global climate where there is potential competition for everyone. Buying value for money might seem obvious but it isn't always the case and many supposedly successful managers have actually built short-term teams, who may be successful in terms of results for a while, but who have little or no residual value when the manager departs or when they collectively start running out of juice. With Pearson in partnership with our owners I can only see us looking and moving forward both on and off the field with an air of intelligently conceived ambition and there really seems to be no limit to our potential while that partnership continues to gel. Happy days indeed.
Alf Bentley Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 Staying on: Nigel Pearson Great bit of photoshop there on NP!! who on earth do these guys employ! Best news yet this is Looks like NP is sponsored by ReadyBrek there! (You'll be showing your age if you get that joke) In fact, here's a young NP, the inventor of hip-hop. He was into trainers (sorry, baseball boots, on closer examination) and had a glow about him even then: Glad that it's been sorted out - good news for the future, so long as he's given time and backing. My WBA-supporting mate had heard that NP's contract was expiring and was hoping he'd move back there - he was very depressed when he heard that they'd got Irvine instead!

jimmer Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 Nigel PearsonImage by: Plumb Images Leicester City Football Club is delighted to announce that its First Team Manager, Nigel Pearson, has signed a new three-year contract at King Power Stadium. Assistant Managers Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh have also agreed new deals to June 2017. Under Nigel's leadership, the Club has made enormous progress over the last two-and-a-half years and was last month promoted to the Barclays Premier League, as champions of the Football League, following one of the most successful seasons in its long, proud history. Leicester City Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: "From the first day I met Nigel, I knew he was the man to take us into the Premier League and I am delighted that he has been able to help us deliver that for our fans. "He is a man of fine principles, a great leader and he believes in our long term vision for Leicester City, while his qualities in coaching, motivation and player development have been evident in our success on the pitch. "Nigel is the perfect fit for our Football Club and his ambitions, both short and long-term, match ours." Leicester City First Team Manager Nigel Pearson said: "I have always seen my long-term future, and that of my staff, at Leicester City. On the back of the success we have worked so hard to achieve, I have always been confident that my future would remain here. "I feel very proud to be the manager of a Club with genuine ambition, a clear direction in which it wants to go and loyal owners that are prepared to support its development." Nigel Pearson will lead Leicester City into the Premier League on the back of a record-breaking season in 2013/14, which saw his side win the Foxes’ first ever Football League title with 31 victories and 102 points – both Club records. Now in his second spell as manager, Pearson, 50, boasts the best win percentage (51.41 per cent) of any manager in the Club’s 130-year history. Between 2008 and 2010, he led the Club to immediate promotion from its first ever season in the third tier of English football, before narrowly missing out on successive promotions to the top flight following defeat to Cardiff City in the Championship Play-Offs a year later. After an 18-month spell with Hull City, he returned to King Power Stadium in November 2011 under the Club’s new owners, King Power International, and began a journey that would ultimately lead Leicester City back to the Premier League after a 10-year absence. Aided by the expertise of Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh – his assistants overseeing coaching and recruitment respectively – Nigel steadily moulded a squad of hungry young players blended with valuable experience, which reached the play-offs in his first full season back at the helm, but were denied a place at Wembley in heart-breaking circumstances at Watford in the semi-finals. Galvanised by the experience and strengthened by some seasoned new recruits last summer, the Foxes responded remarkably and were promoted automatically as Championship champions 12 months later – nine points clear of their nearest rivals. Pearson’s squad will return for pre-season training in early-July, as they begin preparations for the Club’s first top-flight season in a decade, starting at home to Everton on Saturday 16 August. fuchsntf Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 At last Nigel, as become the in-name..everybody seems to want to know a Nigel.
Carl the Llama Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 Never in any doubt that he would, but that makes it no less important a signing. Without Nigel our season would be in peril before it even began...

jock2612 Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 I have to own up and say that when NP first came back i thought his man management was awful and therefore when the bad run came and he did not sort the problem out i was unsure if he was the man to get us back into the prem and at the start of last season i was worried BUT i was wrong the team spirit has been superb and contributed massively to a fantastic promotion.Good luck to him and his team am convinced we will have enough talent to remain in the prem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
