Guest MattP Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Neither of them are fit to lace Maradona's boots anyway, he'd be getting 60 a season in these conditions these days. Even as a huge Messi fan it's hard to make a case for him being better than Ronaldo over the last 18 months, he must rue the summer. All he had to do was pop up with a winner against Germany win the world cup for his country and he could have already rode off into the sunset with his tag of the greatest confirmed. Maradona es mas grande que Pele
ealingfox Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Where was Ronny at the WC? Neither of them will go all the way on that stage and Messi showed him up in this one where they were both in prime years. Fwiw its impossible to argue CR hasnt been more effective last 18 months but id still say although CR is a more complete player Messi is still more gifted. And if you used to use the presence of Xavi and Iniesta etc as a stick to beat Messi with you'd have to admit the opposite is the case now. Ronaldo's supporting cast is absolutely insane.
purpleronnie Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 messi would have even more goals if he wasn't so unselfish.
Tevez Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Who's next up after these pair? Freddy Adu or Kerlon for me.
Samilktray Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Freddy Adu or Kerlon for me.Franny Jeffers is in with a shout.
Soar Fox Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Who's next up after these pair? Riyad Mahrez and Jeffrey Schlupp
filbertway Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Jese Rodriguez! He's basically a Ronaldo clone.
Guest MattP Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Suarez, with Liverpool's peformances this season his stock has actually risen without even playing.

Terms like "one of the best ever" is well overused these days. I say it all the time but the big stage (World Cup) is where the greatest players show how good they are (with the exception of those who can't get there such as Georgie Best).
bovril Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Suarez, with Liverpool's peformances this season his stock has actually risen without even playing. He could do a good job as a plasterer after his football career finishes.
Tommeh Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Ronaldo was the best player when the PL was the strongest it's ever been 07-09 and now rules La Liga, scarily getting better as he gets older. For me he's the greatest we'll ever see.

C-man Posted 23 October 2014 Posted 23 October 2014 Quick report for anyone interested in what Galatasaray away is like... (just incase we get to play them one day) - In general, their fans are incredibly friendly - wherever I went, I was greeted with a 'good luck' or 'enjoy the game' (unsurprisingly a lot of similar comments from Fenerbahce fans... didn't meet any Besiktas). - Their lunatic element are a fvcking disgrace though. They were happy to attack normal Dortmund fans around Taksim Square with iron bars, knives and chairs but apparently didn't fancy it when the Dortmund hools sought revenge. Spent quite a portion of the first half throwing cups of hot water and coffee over the plexiglas and through the netting that surrounds the away end. - No metro system available yesterday so the 2,600 Dortmund fans were bussed in from Besiktas' new stadium. When we arrived we were pelted with bottles and cans. They don't mess about. - Their support was insane until Dortmund's second goal. Like, unbelievably hostile. When Dortmund's goalies came out for the warm up there can't have been more than 1,000 Turks in the stadium. The whistling was out of this world even then, ridiculous. Once Dortmund's 4th went in, they did their best fire drill impression which I was surprised at... mind you it was quarter to midnight by the time the game finished. - Istanbul is quite frankly an incredible city and I would advise anyone to go if they get chance. - Marco Reus' ping
Leicesterpool Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 So Real and Liverpool tonight, wonder how many Real will win by tonight?
Grandad. Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 Real Madrid 0-17 Liverpool. Sterling 15, Balotelli and Skrtel. Skrtel sent off 69th minute. Ronaldo missed penalty 1st minute.

Think you've got more chance of Sterling getting 15 than Balotelli scoring 1 (You watch Balotelli have the game of his life now and bag a hattrick, you can thank me afterwards)
