Corky Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 So Man City have to hope Bayern beat Roma twice, avoid defeat in Rome and also beat Bayern at home. Assuming they both beat Moscow, City would have 9 points, Roma 8 points. A massive ask.
RowlattsFox Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Some poor penalty decisions around tonight.
Ross-Kemp Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Roma 1-7 Bayern Munich Chelsea 5-0 Maribor BATE 0-7 Shakhtar Schalke 3-3 Sporting Goals galore.
MC Prussian Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Roma 1-7 Bayern Munich Chelsea 5-0 Maribor BATE 0-7 Shakhtar Schalke 3-3 Sporting Goals galore. 37 in total tonight - a new CL record. EDIT: Make that 40.
ScouseFox Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 people still think we should get rid of the group stage because they're boring
Dan Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 But they generally are shit. Goals galore tonight in fairness, but what exactly has been defined tonight?
ScouseFox Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 what do you mean "what has been defined"? i like them. we see the best teams in europe playing against each other and they usually need to win. beats watching the great british sewing bee on the other channel. as for that schalke game, anyone see the pen at the end?! hit him square in the face about a yard or so from the "extra" official, he didn't say anything when the ref gave handball . so arlass on sporting, 3-1 down and down to 10 men away from home, get it back to 3-3 and get completely robbed.

What got decided in the games? Nothing really. They were good games, obviously, but the majority of them are pointless. It doesn't really benefit anyone other than UEFA to have that many games. A straight knock-out would do the job. I think the less games you have, the higher the quality of them. Less reason for players to rest etc... Completely contradicting that however... it does seem like Leicester hardly play this season compared to last year.
Guest MattP Posted 22 October 2014 Posted 22 October 2014 people still think we should get rid of the group stage because they're boring They were boring though. Goals fair enough but there's nothing entertaining about games that are over as contests by half time.
MC Prussian Posted 22 October 2014 Posted 22 October 2014 Wonder if the Italian Football Association will ever initiate an inquiry into Roma's absence yesterday. Looking at the highlights, one could come to the conclusion that the Italian players were instructed not to put in too much effort. They were shying away from any contact whatsoever and standing way too deep in their own half. The defending was atrocious, hardly anyone tried to chase after the ball and De Sanctis in goal just couldn't be arsed to help his teammates in any way.
VLC86 Posted 22 October 2014 Posted 22 October 2014 Have Liverpool touched it other than maybe a couple at the kick off between goals?
Unabomber Posted 22 October 2014 Posted 22 October 2014 Have Liverpool touched it other than maybe a couple at the kick off between goals? They did ok for the first 20.
