ronnup Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 We need a special forum for people to bicker and flirt on whilst everyone else can discuss football. It would however, be far smaller it seems
jimmeh Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Would we have an Argentinan fan base with Ulloa and Cambiasso!
ronnup Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Would we have an Argentinan fan base with Ulloa and Cambiasso! Could be the connect we need...they'll be talking to Di Maria daily I imagine!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Considering you seem to think you've got off your fence, why is your arse still sore? If Lee Cattermole is what happens when he gets off the fence I'd prefer he stays where he is to be honest!
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 If you'd just posted your opinion without trying to run down others the thread would be half as long. Your opinion on him has sod all to do with most of the replies you keep getting, it's to do with the way you go about posting it. Without trying to run others down! I'll take that from Mother Theresa but not from you Babs mi ol son!
AKCJ Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 at anyone suggesting they wouldn't take the most decorated Argentine footballer. He'd walk into our team blindfolded with his shoelaces tied.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Erm, how about he was at one time was one of the best holding midfielders in the world? Ermm.. at one time Rio Ferdinand was one of the best centre backs in Europe. Would you have signed him? SUCH hypocrisy..
jimmeh Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Could be the connect we need...they'll be talking to Di Maria daily I imagine!!! I Want there striker with the scandalous haircut
Bert Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Would we have an Argentinan fan base with Ulloa and Cambiasso!Wonder how long it'll be for the LCFC - Boca Juniors Alliance
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Think someone needs to disable the emoticon.
AKCJ Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Ermm.. at one time Rio Ferdinand was one of the best centre backs in Europe. Would you have signed him? SUCH hypocrisy.. That time being over 10 years ago whereas Cambiasso was one of the best holding midfielders in the world about 4/5 years ago.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I've read some garbage on this board over the past seven years but Col's collective input in this thread tops the lot.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Ermm.. at one time Rio Ferdinand was one of the best centre backs in Europe. Would you have signed him? SUCH hypocrisy.. Jesus, it's one positive, not something on which to base an entire opinion out of context. Otherwise we'd be signing Pele.
The Doctor Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 And I maintain once more, if the player had been linked heavily with West Ham, Villa or City fan's favourite QPR (shudder!), the attitude on here would be completely different. people would exclaim.. a 34 yr old on 50k per week.. no way to run a club that!! Etc.. With no due respect, I think you're being willfully stupid. If it were any mediocre 30+ journeyman like jermaine jenas or some naff player who's pottered around this level without ever impressing like clattermole, then the response would be laughter. If they were closing on cambiasso for 50k a week, most would call it a bargain - he's not some old mediocre journeyman, he's a player that,at his peak, was one of the best in the world at his role and has shown no sign of winding down.
Corky Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Ermm.. at one time Rio Ferdinand was one of the best centre backs in Europe. Would you have signed him? SUCH hypocrisy.. You can't just lump every over-32 player into one category. Some will still have some ability, some will struggle to carry on. As it happens, for a year Ferdinand is a good move by QPR, for his experience. Cambiasso would be a massive upgrade on Hammond, so yes, I'd take him. It's personal preference Col, not hypocrisy.
jimmeh Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Cambiasso is younger than steven Gerrard. So you wouldn't sign him on a 2 year deal if he was released by Liverpool in fear it was for the money.
Finnaldo Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Ermm.. at one time Rio Ferdinand was one of the best centre backs in Europe. Would you have signed him? SUCH hypocrisy.. Whereas Ferdinand played in 14 league games, Cambiasso played in 32. That itself would suggest he is still a competent footballer.
lgfualol Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 So everyone can make jokes but when I do it is deleted

Adster Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Col's rubbish spouted in this thread is possibly the funniest I've seen on FT so far.
BigMicky Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Ermm.. at one time Rio Ferdinand was one of the best centre backs in Europe. Would you have signed him? SUCH hypocrisy.. Why do you like QPR so much?
Robin JD Popley Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Bearing in mind I post in here very rarely, I am going to have my 10 pence worth of "source" information. I have a friend who works as a sports reporter at the Mercury and he informs me that we are definitely in for him, just got to iron out the details. Thanks for this mate. A post which seems to generally go along with the main thread of the original story. So, for me, it looks quite likely and for him to even entertain the idea in the first place suggests he is keen. I hope the shirt printers are ready to do some overtime in the Megastore...
Haydos Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Im not at all surprised at how I percieve this thread has progressed. It essentially kicked off with surprise and delight at our being linked with Cambiasso. Images were created of posters 'spaffing' at the prospect Then, in usual Babylon fashion, glibness pervaded and of course, the playground mentality prevailed, everyone jumped on the bandwagon and any discussion gets lost amongst all the piss-taking. Col, once more, becomes a QPR fan... In summary.. absolutely my feelings towards us signing Cambiasso are very mixed. Im never sure of signing older, overseas players who are edging towards the end of their careers. A player like Ronaldhino, NOW, I would not touch with a barge-pole. To do so would be to remind me of the Sven days and the complete fookin cock-up that was made then. Given the choice of Isla, for example, or Cambiasso.. I'd take the former in a heart beat. He's younger, fitter and with a point to prove. Cambiasso has done it all and has nothing to prove. I imagine him joining us would be a pay day, nothing more. Its my own fault. I saw it before re. the news that we were getting Sven and then Beckford. For some reason, the majority on here will quickly dismiss ANY suggestion of questioning. It seems almost 'disloyal' perhaps to not jump on the bandwagon of positivity. But, I'll do two things: I'll stand by my not immediately claiming that signing Cambiasso would be fantastic AND I'll be the first to claim that I was wrong if we sign him and he turns out to be our key signing of the summer. Personally, given all things considered, Id be happier to be linked with a player like Lee Cattermole. Hows that for fence sitting? Col, I cannot be arsed to read back and find it but I am 90% sure you started banging on about 'Imagine if QPR had done this'. You keep bringing them up these day, you have a persecution complex about it. Don't bring it up then take the piss because people are talking about it, it makes you look like a tit. I'm sure you'll find some way to skirt my point again but hey ho. If you actually wanted to discuss this transfer rather than QPR again I'm sure there's plenty who would have had a chat with you about your doubts. You've turned it into something else and acted the victim again though unfortunately.
fleckneymike Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I think I now understand what Col's point was/is. He's nothing against Cambiasso, in fact he quite likes him BUT in future would everyone mind just asking Col first whether we can be excited about transfer speculation as Col might be privy to things we've not considered such as a persons age or whether they are as good as Lee Catermole In simple terms it goes like this Is there are new signing mooted? YES/NO NO = no need to ask Col YES = Is the player a DM? YES/NO NO = don't sign him we need a DM (unless it is Martyn Waghorn then go striaght to MarkW) YES = Easy, lets not get ahead of ourselves, Is this person over 30? YES/NO YES = This player is clearly one step away from a dignitas clinic, DO NOT SIGN NO = Is it JET? YES/NO YES = congratulations you MUST be excited even though you secretly think JET is shit NO = This is terrible news.... unless it is Lee Catermole
